Others have their own servicing schedules but this has worked for all my cars:
If this oil meets or exceeds your car handbook specs - which it probably will because API SP and ILSAC GF-6A are the latest spec - get this and save $10
Ive never understood the oil classifications. Ive read them, but didnt sink in. 10w 30 vs 5w 30 in non performance car, much difference?
Oil classifications are to lineup with your manual during the warranty period
Simply put, use oil that meets or exceeds all classifications and special manufacturer requirements (especially VW and other Euros) stated in the manual so you won't have any issues if you need to claim during the warranty period
For the cold weight of the oil (10w vs 5w), yes there is a difference at startup as thinner oil flows faster. Since you live in cooler Melbourne, would not recommend using a 10w unless your manual recommends it as an option
@Look Up: Thank you, I've used both 5w and 10w30 in the past but was never sure what the difference really was in a Honda CRV.
Anyone know if I can use this oil instead of OEM Honda GN4 10w-30 for my motorcycles?
unless its a junker i wouldn't chance it.
Different rev range and possibly gearbox and clutch sharing that oil.
Likely not, as the spec doesn't seem to mention compatibility for wet clutches nor JASO MA/MA2. Also the mention of "resource conserving" attributes in the spec is certainly something you don't want for your wet clutches.
This one or Castrol Edge ?
