An i9 is going to suffer in that chassis.

    • Not just suffer, its worse than hell for the i9 and if I were that poor piece of silicone I would end my life right there.

How’s this compare up to the kraken m15 deal?

    • They dont even compare, even if the panel is the same (as description & title dont match up), this machine have much worse build quality (plastic all around vs aluminium chasis), is bulkier and heavier and comes with worse wattage (95w vs 140w) and of course the cooling that comes with it. You also see no per key rgb, worse battery and this is an overall inferior machine. The old 1499$ deal I posted before is still better and still worth a buy over this POS.

Oh and forgot to mention battery drain on this thing due to the 180w charger, you will lose battery on charge playing on this POS.

Why do they make laptop screens quad HD and then slap a mobile 3060 in there who engineers these?

    • You wont have any issues hitting 165fps lol /s

    • its 1080p, title error.

  • This particular 3060 is great at 1080p but really starts struggling at QHD.

  • Im very certain this is FHD, they might have mistyped the title on the website

    • And yet listed it as 1080p in the specs right below the probably wrong title:
15.6" display with IPS (In-Plane Switching) technology, Full HD 1920 x 1080, high-brightness (300 nits) Acer ComfyView LED-backlit TFT LCD, supporting 144 Hz,3 ms Overdrive

    last month HN had i7 with 8gb/500gb rtx 3050 4gb 144hz fhd, $500 cheaper.

    • rtx 3050 4gb is trash compared to 3060 with the 144hz screen

You are referring to this deal:
      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/731399

From what I can find the 3050 has a 75w limit and the 3060 has a 95w limit in these two models. You can check out the difference in performance but from what I've found for 1% lows
      Hitman 2 - 35 vs 60 fps
      Cyberpunk - 27 vs 45 fps
      AC Vahalla - 30 vs 45 fps
      Mafia - 32 vs 51 fps
      Control - 27 vs 50 fps
All with 11800H systems BUT 16gb ram so probably less performance than the 8gb on the advertised systems.

Operative point - if you buy the system for gaming, with the 3050 you will be having a bad time.

      Benchmarked reference - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DMIiM0iBsuo

BUT I do agree with you, 11900H is overkill and probably adds too much price & heat to this. If we can get a deal with the CPU toned down and along with it the price, that would be great.

This (expired) deal is a great example, I can't comment on 11400H though but for $1200 - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/704961

This is definitely 1080p NOT 1440p.

Cracker of a deal. I have the commonly posted i5 version and use it when gaming with an external monitor and the laptop clamshell on top of a cooling pad with fan and would recommend the latter for any gaming laptop.

Note the website does not say whether this is single slot of 16GB RAM.
    .

  • 180W power adapter whereas i7 3060 laptops normally have a 230W and this has an i9, GPU and CPU will be very power limited even though this is a thick laptop. Not to mention the 57Wh battery which is far to small for this amount of power.

    • This thing loses battery power even while on charge. And I tested it with a 10300H model instead of the 11900H. Its not just power limited while its limited in wattage due to trash cooling the brick cant even support the whole machine under load.

  • What about this one:
    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/185595984419
MSI GF66, cpu is i7-12700H, but with 8Gram and RTX3050. With 10% code, down to $1188.
    Is the $300 worth?

    • This is bad. min nowadays is 16gb ram. 3050 is not a great GPU either. Wait for another Kraken deal

  • Can anyone please tell me how this compares?

    https://www.harveynorman.com.au/acer-nitro-5-15-6-inch-r9-59…

Seems like a good deal for the price but I don't know too much with laptop specs

    • The 3080 is much more powerful than the 3060 in this build, however both are essentially garbage due to the massive power limits placed on the GPU and CPU, not to mention the build quality. I personally wouldn't pay $800 extra, but I also personally would not touch any Acer nitro builds.

      • Where would you buy a gaming laptop from/what would you be looking at this month?

I need to have one before the end of the month as I'll be going on a bunch of trips and won't know where I'll be able to have it delivered to/pick it up from unless I do it soon.

        Thanks.
