Poly P15 Video Conference Bar (Webcam with Soundbar) $449 + $15 Shipping @ Simply Headsets

80

Poly is the new name for the combined Polycom / Plantronics. This is by far the cheapest price I've seen (next closest is $700), and while still more expensive than most 4K webcams, this also includes high quality soundbar - useful for laptops that sound like a Fisher Price toy - and features like auto-framing and the ability to automatically track/follow the speaker, so it's ideal for presenting.

There's plenty of marketing waffle on the website along with specs so I won't repeat it here, just click the link or google it if you want to know all the details.

  • Would the mic be able to pick up a person talking from 3-4 meters away in a conference room?

    • Ditto on this question.

      • They're either extremely conservative with their mic distances or they all suck, because the Sync 60 is the best speakerphone in their range and that's only 3m which honestly is still barely useful in a small room.

Note that this is primarily designed to be mounted on a monitor <1m away. It's not really in the same league as 'real' conference room setups, but you might get away with it on a TV in a small room. For 1/4 the price of the next best option, it's worth trying it I guess.

        • It uses noise suppression technology it has nothing to do with the ability of the mic.

          AUDIO

-Poly Acoustic Clarity technology - provides full-duplex conversations,
acoustic echo cancellation and background noise suppression
          -Poly NoiseBlockAI technology

Maybe you can just turn that stuff off.

      • From that distance you'll need a seperate mic closer to the speaker. If not the voice will sound soft and volume inconsistent

    • +1

I have no idea on this item, but having work with Polycom hardware for many years the mics on other devices are fantastic and designed for the scenario you pose.

      • I have poly headset got from my company so that covers audios, but camera has died on the laptop and i need a camera to be able to work on my old pc occasionally, so this got me curious. I guess i'll just use my phone with teams for these occasional meetings.

    • I have one for work. Yes, it can.
The acoustic fence technology and noise block AI works great, especially when my dog goes nuts when delivery comes.

  • reported issues with Feedback on this device and the speaker volume is not sufficient
its just a simple Video Bar Combined audio and camera together

Unlike the higher models that have Codecs like X30, X50 that needs addional screens to zoom/teams licensing to control and works without an EUC, at the end of the day is a just a USB Peripheral

  • logitech meetup would be better? but 3x the price (2x the price when on special)

    • I have one of these at work. Underwhelming performance at best. The price isn't reflective of the performance - it reflects what the corporate customers will tolerate paying

My combo of an Opal C1 and a pair of Q Acoustics M20s performs much better for half the cost

      • Thanks. Will stick to my c950 Logitech then.

    • Logitech meetup is good value, only if you can find a good second hand unit on eBay. They’re good, but over priced brand new. They’re targeted at the corporate market and priced accordingly.

I picked up mine for about 400AUD delivered from the US a couple of years ago. It means I can join meetings from the couch.

  • This is a personal device. It is designed to put on top of a monitor. The useful features are 4K camera with very smooth auto face tracking, also noise cancellation to remove surrounding noise and keyboard noise. I am using one and it is really great!
