Need free mental health services than books.

    • Isn't there already via Medicare?
"A mental health treatment plan lets you claim up to 20 sessions with a mental health professional each calendar year."
      https://www.servicesaustralia.gov.au/mental-health-care-and-…

The difference in price between the medicare psychologist payment and what psychologists actually charge is huge.

        • +2

There are some free State Govt funded mental health programs. But there are long waiting lists & generally restricted to those most in need of serious mental health care.

Available Psychologists are hard to find - there is so much demand after COVID. And finding one that best suits your needs may be very difficult & expensive.

          Sometimes a good chat helps…
Free face to face counselling services (generally with Social Worker) used to be available, but funding has been withdrawn in favour of Mental Health Plans.

          Ask your GP.

These only cover the schedule fee. Around $80 per session. The mental health professional can charge what they like leaving a large gap to pay. Psychologists commonly charge $240 leaving $160 per session to be paid by the patient.

      • It’s still an out-of-pocket expense of $100 per hour to see a clinical psychologist.

        • My extras insurance will pay some of that. $50 per session up to $250 a year.

          • @wfdTamar: i dont think you can claim MHCP and extras (at least I dont think you are supposed to be able to do that,…

Check out www.goodminds.com.au bulk billed sessions with a Mhcp with most of the psychs on there. There are others as well if you google

      • Telehealth may not suit everyone & may suit others better.

        Check with your GP first.
20 sessions / year on Mental Health Plan. Should be enough. Then around $132/hr.

My GP's son recently qualified as a Clinical Psychologist. He only provides Telehealth consulting. But he has had so little experience beyond his supervised training… He's available, but I wouldn't use his service.

Check their qualifications, field of expertise, & experience to see if they suit your needs.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is the usual approach used to manage most anxiety. All Clinical Psychologists will be trained in it.

Basis of the CBT approach can be understood & applied by many - from books (often posted here free, or borrow free from library).

Involves challenging faulty thinking that often leads to excessive anxiety. That may be enough help for some.

The first CBT book I read, was written by Anthony Kidman - Nicole's Father. Was very useful.

Sounds like a way to think you're failing by not having it solved in a week

    • +4

      Fk

    • +10

Deal doesn't say it's "solved in a week"!
That was just your incorrect thinking🤔

It's a Once a Week Method to change your thinking, which may reduce anxiety.

      • If they can cure dyslexia then I'll buy it. My reading is terrible thanks to this stupid thing

        • 😃
You're not the only one to misread this Deal🤔

It's very easy to jump to wrong conclusions… ("incorrect thinking")
I thought Deal was for "Flight Anxiety Once a Week"
Got my attention as planning a lot of overseas flights after a long break😉
It was just for anxiety. My mistake!

    • Based on the title, it looks like it's some kind of practice/exercise you can do once per week, to fight (but not cure) anxiety.

      • +2

Fortunately there's no 'cure' for anxiety.

It's a perfectly natural state, helping us be aware & prepare. Anxiety can help us achieve. Successfully doing what makes us anxious, can be exhilarating!

Without any anxiety, we could easily endanger ourselves & others! And life could be pretty boring.

It's when anxiety overwhelms people, it's a problem. It stops people from achieving & doing what they may otherwise enjoy. And a lot of that is often driven by our faulty thinking habits.

Regularly identifying & challenging our thoughts that arise before becoming anxious, is a proven technique to manage excessive anxiety in many people.

(*Have not read this particular book.)

but do I need this 🤔

  • +3

I’m overthinking of getting this book for free or not for free and when I’m going to read it if I get it for free now or maybe get it later for free ?

    • +2

      Seems like you're anxious😂

  • +2

i visit a brothel for relief once a week, hope I'm doing it right.
Damn, now I'm anxious, so hi ho hi ho its off to the brothel I go

    • Do you always go to the same place and see the same lady, or do you like to mix it up a bit and try different women each week

  • Link is to a hard cover book. Anyone got the links to the ebook? Thanks

    • If you have an amazon.com.au account - should be below that book in Deal Link.
Wasn't on amazon.com for me. Had to change to local account to see it.

      Cornered the "Once-a-Week" book market.

Same approach as taken by many religions, 12 step programs, etc!
Agree to participate just Once-a-Week - pretty easy.
If they see a benefit, they continue.
Some then follow the plan every day until its a habit.

Some then follow the plan every day until its a habit.

Hopefully not, it's pretty unhealthy to go Vegan every day.

    • Was really hoping your in brackets comments were in the book titles ;)

    • +1

Thanks for the Stopping Procrastination link. I'll have a look at it later.

  • Originally thought this Deal was for "Flight Anxiety Once a Week"!
