In 2020 it was $799 :/
is it a good couch? has it held up?
yeah, can't fold it away like before something disconnected or rusted out but it's been used pretty heavy and held up, cushions definately need some refill but for the 500ish its been great.. 1k worth.. hmm
It has been great! I need to have it upholstered again, rest all is working well! Thinking about getting a quote for leather upholstery but might be expensive!
I got a Friheten in a weird orange/beige combination from the scratch and dent area at IKEA several years ago. From memory it was roughly $400. We use this for our “snug” area. With it converted into a bed you can still have back cushion support so it is like everyone having a chaise langue. We also use it for a bed when people stay over. It is a tad firm so we put a pillow “underlay” on top of it and it works well. The conversion is dead easy and it isn’t like those sofas with a skinny mattress with the metal bits digging into you.
My only warning is my cats think it’s a scratching post.
Bought a friheten leather for around $750 if not mistaken back in 2019. I was surprised it's $1k now!
I bought almost every time when IKEA GC discounted on Shopback.
I should have just bought that I wanted in cash a year or two ago…😮💨
Bought this a year ago and I have to say that it really is not that comfortable for extended sitting. We had a spare mattress insert, that sits on top, which has given it new life but I was thoroughly unhappy with it for a few months.
With the rise of the memory foam sofabeds (eg Ecosa, Koala, etc) which seem to offer reasonably competitive pricing/quality/convenience (vs the dreaded IKEA visit), are IKEA sofabeds still worth considering in 2022?
I ask this as someone who is looking to buy a sofabed, and haven't had one since I was a kid 20 years ago…. unless you count something like the King Delta Storage which could be reconfigured into a shape resembling a bed.
How was the King Delta? I’ve always wondered about how comfortable it actually is for use as a regular couch, as it seems very firm. King furniture is built to last, but is it worthy the price tag?
I’ve got three King Couches. All of them would be over a decade old. The couches make reasonable single beds on their own. The best way to buy them is when they are having a floor stock sale. We got one couch, with Chaise Longue for 70% off. They aren’t cheap but they are good quality.
I found it to be great quality and if I didn’t have young kids now I’d probably buy again. The delta storage at the time was a unique proposition and worked well with my small one bedroom bachelor life apartment. Worked as a double bed but reality is it was more like two singles next to each other. Surprisingly comfy to sleep on or sit on.
I sware I bought the Friheten 8 years ago for like $499.. prices gone way up since then.
