Have it, works really well for checking heat and playing with the cat. One downside would be non rechargeable battery format

  • Came up as $16.30 delivered for me. So picked one up. Thanks.

  • Why not for human??

    • +4

Hi, it's mainly for measuring the surface temperature of inaccessible objects in machinery, chemical industry, ceramics, light industry, food, metallurgy, electric power, heat treatment, and other industries. It's not accurate for measure people's temperature.

      • Or measuring your wood fire oven

    • +20

Accuracy - this unit has a 600 degC range with +/- 2 degC accuracy; that's fine for most uses but not human body temperature range, 2 degrees is the difference between normal and hypothermia.

      Edit :beaten by the rep.

Who got a pizza oven recently?

    • +2

      Yeah bloke

  • +1

Is it good for barbecuing and checking the internal temperature of food items?

    • +3

Use a probe thermometer for internal temp

    • Does this do x-ray temperature?

    • No, that is not its purpose. Inkbird make a rechargeable meat thermometer here: https://inkbird.com/collections/food-thermometers rrp $25 and it is excellent - I have one and love it.

This is for pizza ovens, BBQs etc

Hi OP. I'll be doing a spit roast. Will this thermometer be of great use and if so, how to take full advantage of it? Thanks.

    • No it won't, it will measure surface temp and not internal temp

  • Thanks OP, can't go wrong at this price.

      https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/224489998817

      • Thank you OP. Bought…

$18.46 with eBay Plus or $19.85 without and you can use your AAA eneloops with it.

    • Looks almost exactly the same doesn't it? Can you buy it and let me know how you go? I would prefer AAs too, 9v is a pita

      • +1

I've had both, and while it's easier to get AAA's, my 9v thermometer is on its 2nd battery, with the first lasting about 8 years.

      • I already have an IR thermometer, not buying sorry.

    • +1

That one is awful. Doesn't appear to let you adjust emissivity - fixed at 0.95 (looking at Alibaba listing, because seller doesn't even mention emissivity) . Plenty of others on Ebay for just a little more that at least on paper look much better and use AA batteries. Sometimes saving $2 isn't a saving.

How powerful is the laser? Is it waterproof? And does anyone know of a way to attach them to sharks?

  • Getting this because I love watching Made With Lau on YouTube and they use a Thermometer Gun for checking the heat on the wok. :-)

    • +1

That's what I do too. why guess with smoking oil when you can tell for sure?

  • not expired. i typed the code and it went through. maybe i was lucky??

  • I got $22.99 so not expired and better then full price

  • Just got it $19.99

  • +1

What's the difference between a $15-20 infra thermometer and this one? Is this a reputable brand?

    • Yes very reputable.

    • +1

The better infra thermometers have a dual laser which is super accurate as it shows the temperature between the 2 laser beams
( good for measuring wires etc).
They also have a way better ratio ie, 30:1 which means they will measure a 1cm spot from 30cm away.
I would definitely buy right, buy once with an item like this.

  • Code worked for me $19.99 🙏

  • Cheers OP. $22.95 for me though.

  • Code cannot be applied.
    It seems they've wised up.

    • +1

Wised up? You weren't trying to rob a bank, you were offered that price earlier.

      • -1

        Calm down champ.
Just stating the code for me can't be applied.

  • +1

thanks OP, code is not working.

  • Just bought using code, no issue

    • Yes , worked second time ! I missed out last time and glad I got it this time !

  • +1

There's no Such thing as free shipping or percent off, if it was then I'd be buying from the supplier or owning the warehouse or just a nice person.

  • Looks like code isn't working for me:
"This code can't be applied to some of your items".

Confirmed it's the only item in cart. Good deal for those who were able to get it.

  • -4

    Code no longer works

  • -4

OP Fix The Code Plz. Thx

    • +1

The codes expired. You dont neg a deal because you are late to it. Just report it on the top using the report link.

      • Ok. Didn’t know. Thanks

        • All good mate, you can also click votes on the top of this page near the title and revoke your vote if you accidently did it.

  • I have one I use to measure the temperature of my stainless steel pans when I'm cooking. One issue is that the reading is incorrect when there's no oil in the pan. It'll read ~50 degrees but then shoot up to 190, for example, as soon as I add oil to the pan.

    • SS is reflective, read the luminance (radiosity?) values in the manual.
