Bankstown Binneale 2022 presents: Heather Goodall - The History of Georges River
The Bankstown Arts Centre proudly presents this FREE talk by Heather Goodall on Georges River - hidden stories, hidden heroes, as part of the Bankstown Biennale 2022, SubTerrains.
The talk delves into the important stories of strength, resilience and commitment which underlie the Georges River estuary communities and explores the continuing role of Dharawal and Dharug people, along with other Indigenous people, looking after the river and their country around it. Goodall will also investigate stories about the local working-class settler English, Irish and Chinese communities who also tried to save the river’s wetlands from becoming rubbish dumps and empty playing fields, as well as other more current narratives include newly-arrived communities.
