Is Deluxe even worth the extra money

    • +7

They haven't really added anything worthwhile to it for months and that this point just keep adding PS4 remasters to it to pad it up while adding some of their major PS2 titles (Sly and Ratchet) as PS3 streaming games overseas. Don't think I'll be renewing my Deluxe sub when it runs out

    • +11

In my opinion…..Not at the moment.
I have PS+ subs out to end 2025 and to upgrade to deluxe would only cost $180 for 3 years. Still not enough to have me pay the money unless they get some more classic PS1 and PS2 games. Waiting on Tomb Raider 1 and 2. I think I'll be waiting a long time. I still have PS1 and 2 consoles so happy just to play my back catalogue on these for a while.

      • Are there 3 year subs? I'm hoping to do a long sub if they have a black for day sale.

        • +1

No more stacking of subs tmk. I had stacked 4 years of standard PS+ when they were on sale for $50 before the PS+ Tiers were announced. The most Sony can charge for Deluxe against stacked PS+ subs is 16 months, hence the $180 to upgrade for Deluxe and $120 for 3 years for extra

Doubt it, the only thing I've had value from is the game trials - helped me avoid purchasing a couple that probably wouldn't be on extra for a while which I didn't enjoy.

But spending money to save money isn't really good value. Until they offer the PS3 cloud catalogue here Deluxe is an absolute waste of space

      • +9

Paying a subscription to get game trials is BS though. Demos should be available to everyone. The only reason not to is if you know your game won't live up to the marketing hype.

I did it as a once off to go through the Classics catalogue (which isn't great but better than it was at launch) so it's ok for that but I won't be renewing. Will probably only renew for the basic tier as I don't really use Extra either.

    • if you’re a huge sony fanboy that wants to play Classics, and you also have a digital only PS5 and haven’t upgraded your harddrive so you want to be able to also stream a bunch of games and you live in a part of that country that has amazing internet speeds. In that VERY specific situation then you’re probably going to see value, but unless you’re either of those people then no

    EDF, EDF!

Earth will become a giant insect planet!!

  • +6

Deluxe only seems to be worth it for some PS4 remasters that they classify as ‘classics.’ Otherwise seems useless in Aus since we don’t get PS3 streaming, which sucks anyway

    • Why don’t we have streaming in Australia anyway???

      • +1

Probably don't have any access nodes nearby.

      • +7

Main justification is shit internet compared to rest of world isn't it? FTTN ftw

          Thanks, Liberals

@ThithLord: Yeah well 25Mbps more than enough for the average household.

@AlanHB: Labor should introduce legislation to cap all Liberal politicians and members to 25Mbps, see how they like that.

And then there's the $38,000 Stuart Robert claimed for his Internet.

@kapone: Haha I've also wondered about that. Even in 2013 when internet video was coming in the statement was ridiculous.

Another choice NBN quote from 2010 is "do we really want to invest $50 billion worth of hard-earned taxpayers’ money in what is essentially a video entertainment system?". I'm pretty sure at that time we were using Skype and internet banking.

@AlanHB: In 2005 that would have been correct. However, we're in 2022 where Internet Streaming media is now king, Offices are becoming Work from Home, and 95% of all services are now online. We're at a stage now where 100Mbs is barely enough and we need to be looking at doubling that

              • +1

                @Zythyx: At least we're paying for 50/20 like it's 300mpbs at least!

              • @Zythyx: Sorry I was mimicing Tony Abbot circa 2013. That position with his "Stop the Boats" campaign subsequently lead to his election as PM.

        • +3

Which is a bad justification as I use Xbox Cloud and GeForce Now all the time and it works fine

        • +1

That has nothing to do with it lol, GeForce now and Xbox cloud streaming are here.

  • +2

This month's addition is actually pretty decent. I have always wanted to give Kingdom Hearts a go.

    • +3

Prepare for the most painful cutscenes in existence

      • +1

        "You'll never take Kairi's heart!"

      • But definitely still a great game to play and enjoy the Disney/Square crossover.

  • +3

So if I've never played Kingdom Hearts, which one do I start with? They seem incapable of making it coherent in the titles…

  • I gave Sony my money for one year, and barely played any games they added to the library and even though it was cheap through turkey I'm not giving Sony a single dollar.

Id rather buy used game when I want it and sell it when I'm done.

Subscription looks good if you have kids tho, personally I don't bounce from game to game.

  • Holy heck great month

  • Do they ever remove games from the list?

    • Yep, they removed NBA 2K22 just before 2K23 came out.

      • Red Dead Redemption 2 was also on there to start with but has since been removed.

        • funny that RDR2 was a main feature in the PS+ promos, but left soon after release

          • @Rimzi: Rockstar basically announced they weren’t going to be supporting it anymore and there’d be no more multiplayer updates, so i reckon they probably just took it down to avoid some potential backlash from new players

  • +2

I love killing people and robbing corpses. In Skyrim.

  • Waiting for prince of Persia

  • I read somewhere that all the Rachet and Clank games were added this month too.

    • They will be, but not for Australia as we don't get PS3 game streaming here

      • Thanks for letting me know.

  • The Division 2 is also a bloody great game too. I’ve thrown way too many hours into that game

  • Not even the anniversary edition? Ewww!

Chorus is AWESOME though. Get on it people.

  • Do these games expire after some time or not?

    • If I'm not wrong, they will expire once your plus membership expires.

      • That i know. I meant is there some kind of games rotation like in xbox game pass? Where games are available for a few months and then get replaced by another games.

        • not really - but it’s a new program so i’d assume over time it’d have to but i haven’t seen it; with th exception of yearly sports games

  • I cant find rainbow six in the catalogoue

    • It says download only if i upgrade to deluxe

    • I had to contact support and get them to remove the free weekend trial version that was in my library from a few months ago before I could play it.
