Browsing the other day and noticed iHerb have increased free shipping threshold from $60AU to $70AU and changed shipping carrier to a generic international option. Auspost shipping now costs a flat fee no matter how much you buy and is not their preferred carrier to Australia.

    • +7

In my experience in recent months, it's still coming with AusPost once it hits Aus. The free shipping option, every time.

There aren't many good alternatives to iherb, the ones that are, are very similar pricing anyway.

Not sure why OZbargainers like to have a winge every deal post, this deal is actually quite good.

If you don't have much to buy, move on.

Just buy a few things together it's not that hard to get free delivery…

      Vitamin D 2000/5000/10,000iu
      Melatonin
      Ashwagandha
      Psyllium caps
      5htp
      Etc

These are all still cheaper than local options and /or much stronger / some aren't even sold here. Not in a useful dose

      • Yeah made my 1st order today. Shipment email said Australia Post.

      • -4

That's the problem. They know they are still miles cheaper than local suppliers/sellers even after raising prices/thresholds. They can abuse their market dominance and raise prices and people will go "so what? still cheaper than local".

Supplements have always been cheaper in the US, along with their formulations (even with our current exchange rates).
Compare companies like Thorne vs Blackmores or Swisse, laughable… so I will always purchase from the US.
In stating that, you’d have a hard time finding an alternative to iherb.
It’s not “abusing” as you say, it’s called competition.

        • I found an item yesterday, Amazon AU have it (via US, so same source country) and both have a base price of $38.xx

With the 22% off at iHerb it is down $29.93, this doesn't even factor in today's Cashback.

Any other seller, eg eBay, Kogan, others who have already imported it from the US, are upwards of $42.95 + post.

How exactly is iHerb doing anything bad/wrong here?

    • … increased free shipping threshold from $60AU to $70AU…

Probably happened because of the drop in the Aussie dollar over the last few months.

[Shakes fist at…… wait, who are we blaming for the drop in the $AU these days?]

  • Why didn't I wait for increased cashback?

    • I bet you feel like a bit of a dill

    • They once had a discount the day after I purchased a significant order.
They were nice enough to refund the difference!
Although I’d been using them for over 10yrs

      • Oh I did manage to use the iHerb coupon, but cashback was at 8% at the time, not 15%. Not the biggest loss, I guess.

  • Can someone math me what the max total cart price can be for max cashback? 🥴

      $30 / 0.15 = $200

      • Thanks my fella 👏

I needed this 2 days ago!

    • Thyme waits for nobody

      • How long have you been waiting to use that one?

You didn't like my joke? I thought it was mint.

          • @prhino: Your name isn't Rosemary by any chance?

            • @rickb: No, Basil

              • @prhino: Sorry. I'm such a dill…

@rickb: Don't be like that, you usually give sage advice…

    • I was lucky that I waited, I know something might come up every year closer to black friday

  • Any good brands for NAC? If not then may need to search locally

    • +1

NOW and Life extension are fairly reputable that I know have NAC.

Thorne is always my preferred but not sure they have NAC

    • Be careful ordering too much NAC in one go. Might've been the particular brand I was ordering, but a year or two ago I went through Aus border security hell trying to get them to release it to me. A lot of back and forth with a GP to get a note to tell them it was ok. That was for I think 3 bottles of it.

      • What was their reason for stopping you? NAC is legal regardless of quantity

        • They said the particular one I ordered (I think it was NOW 1000mg) was not approved by the TGA. It was weird and stupid.

It seems that iherb price jacked most of the items prices (not all). I compared a couple of items with amazon, and they were cheaper at amazon even with 35% discount at iherb.
It was not the case about a year ago and before.

    • yes i found lots of items I purchased previously have gone up 10-47% from July.

      • Heavy jacking particularly some items to Oz. Likely to factor in shipping cost on heavier and bulky items.

  • Not all products accept 22% off
