So what price are they usually? What makes this a bargain?

    • +2

      $1,599 - $1,995 = - $396 !!!

      • +1

Actually, I think $1,599 is the price for the CRT version and $1,995 is for the LCD version.

      • +1

Hi Guys - $1,599 is for the CRT monitor, $1995 is for the industrial LCD monitor model. We are offering free freight to all capital cities in Australia + spare parts + upgraded stools + 2 years warranty. The machines we sell are used in pubs/clubs as well as home market - right now we have our end of financial sale which ends 30th June. When this deal expires, our offer goes back to plastic stools + local free delivery and our standard one year warranty.

        • I'm in Newcastle - not a capital city, but only a suburb or two away from you guys. Would we get free delivery within Newie?

        • This is no problem, we can make the delivery for free.

    • Basically it's a niche product/model where you can't compare pricing to anywhere else, so when it gets listed on here it automatically becomes a bargain at any price!

      • Mm, that's what I thought.

  • Looks beautiful.

  • Are these officially licensed roms or just ripped ones?

    • Well it says their printed on a circuit board, so it's not just a Mame box chugging away under the hood…

Then again, you could probably throw a Mame box in there if you wanted ;)

      • And save about $1200.00

        • Is it possible to buy an empty cabinet? I reckon I could figure out the Mame box / screen but no idea how to make a sturdy table that's suitable

        • Any carpenter would help, or be able to make something like that for less than 400

    • So I assume from the silence that these aren't officially licensed from their respective copyright holder(s)..

    • double post..

    • +1

First of all I'm not associated with this buisness at all.

No the roms are NOT licensed but they are not defended by the licence holder.

Should the boards start to be used in a commercial setting where it is taking buisness from the likes of the licence holders then they may send a Cease and desist but so long as they are for home users then I highly doubt they would bother.

The market for commercial arcade machines is almost entirely populated by arcades and commercial operators, these are the only people that the licence holders care about. If they start turning to these machines then they will start to care.

Don't forget the big money makers are todays games, these boards are worth thousands of dollars and sometimes tens of thousands of dollars.
20 year old games aren't worth the money and because of that they aren't about to spend thousands of dollars in legal costs defending copywrighted games when it isn't even affecting their customer base.

    • Sorry - Double post

  • As cool as these look and would be a great addition to any Bachelor pad, and can’t be beaten.

Functionality wise, would the money be better spent on a 4 player game pad on a big LCD Monitor (with your pre-existing PC)? Then you can play the 4 player classics like Gauntlet, X-Men and TMNT.

    • Unless you wanted an authentic looking 2 player cocktail cab, that is!

Any one who owns a "modded" xbox1 has the ability to play Atari, Amiga 500, NES, Master System, SNES, Mega Drive, N64, Gameboy,
PSX,XBOX & and of course MAME "backed up games" :). And you dont have to sit up for hours and end up like a hunch back. Sorry, just the reality of things. Nice cabinet though.

  • My neighbour has one…reckons he paid $50 for one 2 years ago and just replaced the glass top which had scuff marks. Don't see the value in inflating price due to the size of the market when the real cost of making these is under $500, if that.

    • Not sure where you get $500 (if you use commercial brand new parts). For the neighbour's $50 purchase was this for the same model or 1980 machine?

Our margins are quite small. If we were charging double the price, I can understand your concerns, but once we add all the free items (freight, parts, stools) there's not much left.

Can you stick up a photo? I'd be keen to have a look. I was going to make one a few years ago, then ago got the better of me. I'd be dead keen to have a look at yours though. This post is rekindling memories

    • +3

Not to be critical, but the machine you have made will be dead within 3 months in an arcade environment. They have tried to make a HDD based combo board (the ones you see on ebay) and these have a life of between 3 to 3 years. Your comparing a home machine with a commercial product - bit like taking your standard Holden Commodore or Fold Falcon and going around the Bathurst circuit, sure, you can do the first few laps flat out, but in a few hours you will be looking for a new car.

Arcade machines are designed to be around for a long time and have a resale value. We are selling Sega cabinets that are nearly 20 years old and they are still working well.

      • +2

Wow three to three years?!?! I'm definatly spending my dough on that combo board!!

        • sorry this is my typo. The life of the HDD game combos are normally 3 months to 3 years. If you are in Newcastle and really want to understand and see the differences please come to our showroom/office.

      • IF you reckon it will last so long, why only a 2 year warranty? …

        • +2

$40,000+ machines are sold to us by Sega, Namco and other factories with 3 months to 1 year warranty terms. We are selling the cocktail machines less than $2,000 and offering 2 years warranty - please check the marketplace, unless we are wrong, no one offers 2 years warranty (this is real warranty, backed by our guarantees - not ebay sellers making promises on their listings and then after the sales ignore the repairs).

Our warranty is Australia wide and open to commercial or home use. Would you pay extra for additional warranty terms? (say 5 years - and if yes, what would you be willing to pay)

    • soincentropy, yours sounds like a great hobby/DIY kit, but I'm sure it really doesn't compare to this unit here. The 2 year warranty alone is probably worth it.

Don't get me wrong, I think DIY is great, but time is money and you've spent $1039 already. I think you'll have more fun on yours because it's your own pride and joy, but hard to compare this to a commercial unit with warranty, delivery, etc.

Highway, can you answer the question as to whether these are licenced games.

    • This is the standard combo printed circuit board being used in the arcade industry (in all current model cocktail tables and upright cabinets). I really do not know what agreements (if any) the manufacturer of this PCB has with the software owners. Please note, the estimated quantity of this game board in the marketplace is over 20,000+ units. If there is a problem and the machines need to be recalled we will offer you full refund.
