    Not bad

    • I don't like their products. Has the car mount and it is not a good a a 30 dollar magnet alternative i bought on ebay.

Although Qlock have a wide range of accessories for other use case scenarios.

      • +6

Alternatively, Ive been using the car mount (windscreen suction mount) for a year and I've found it really good. Absolutely a product I'd recommend to others. Using it with a Pixel 4a 5g.

        • I have that one. But I have it on my dashboard.

        • We have 3 windscreen suction mounts and love them. 1 in my car, my wife's car and my work car.
Had them for about 2yrs now.

      • I love the bike mount, hate the windscreen mount. Thing falls off constantly onto my hazard light switch…

Not sure what other cat mount I can use while the Quad Lock case is fitted though :(

      • +8

Very true, for basic in car applications, a cheap gravity vent/dash mount at a fraction of the cost is just as effective, and it doesn't require special cases. There are also wireless charging options with motorised holders.

Quad Lock started with bike mounts, which have to be robust. A lot of riders (push bikes, motorbikes, quads, SxS) like them and they saw a market to expand into car mounts, because those riders drive cars too.

But if you are going to use it in car only, chances are there are better alternatives, unless you drive on bumpy roads.

        • This is very true. I have one on my bicycle and one on the pram as well

          • +1

@ayayron: It makes sense once you are in the Quad Lock ecosystem, one case, many uses.

But for exclusive car drivers, it's a bit silly to carry that case all day long just to use it a couple of hours a day in car, if at all. When there is no need to have that mount.

        • Saw some ads on Facebook recently about Carmount.com.au Using magnetic mounts and significantly cheaper. I don't use them myself but a few reviews so far seem positive. Again not for bumpy roads or off-road use.

        • Depending on your budget (and tbh they are a bit hard to get in Australia anyway), I've found RAM mounts to be quite sturdy. Currently using quad lock for the motorbike and RAM mount for the car. Haven't had a chance to properly test it through a hot summer yet though…

Would you mind sharing the link for the ebay product you got?

      • Link for good in car mount?

        • -1

Just get on to Amazon and search for "car mount", get the one with high numbers of good reviews.

The mounts are so simple to make, factories are very mature to copy each other, there are no bad mounts except those really cheap ones.

I got one from a local shop for $30 with wireless charging (slow) and touch sensing motorised clips.

Not exactly this one, but similar sort of thing: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/403263539262

        • not a new model, but i love this - sensor & button control for the auto-closing arms, plus wireless charging:
          https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000204506989.html

Has run well in my car for exactly 3 years now, jus tchecked.

          • @andresampras: Wow that's very lucky. I got the same brand a couple of times and the motor kept dying after several months. Just crunching out and getting stuck

  • +3

RIP… i just had to purchase one yesterday at RRP

    • Yep same… still waiting for the case to arrive. Full RRP as well.

      • +1

I just sent a request seeing if I can return it then re-order (under their 30 day money back) or they can credit the difference.

    • Haha they are on record for saying they have one annual sale at black friday and no other sales.

    • If you have the right credit card, you can claim shoppers insurance and get the price difference.

    • Got refunded $7 by support to reflect the 30% off.

It's not the full 30% still better than nothing.

  • +8

Haha website has a popup for signup that gives 10% and there's no close button. Instead, it has "replace with close". dev's checked out for the day

    Early Black Friday deal…..

Well done, I have my list ready for quad lock order.

On another note, awesome customer service from QL. Enquired the other day about an intermittent charging fault with one of the cables, no questions about the two year-old cable, sent me out replacements (yes, plural) the very next day got shipping tracking.
They've upgraded the weather proof cables on the interim and sent me out 3.

Also, when upgraded to new S22+ and didn't want to wait till BF deal, I mentioned the higher minimum cost for free shipping than it has been and had the shipping costs refunded after I placed the order.

  • +1

Can you stack the referers discount?

    • +1

      No, just tried.

  • +1

Grabbed one of these cases last year with a the universal mount and put it on the pram - genius. Makes shopping heaps easier.

    • Maybe it's time to think about upgrading to that new tricycle you've been keeping your eye on

  • +2

I’ve found these case to have such a tight grip that it would make my screen protector come off. I have iPhone 12 Pro Max with one of those extra large screen protectors and had no issues at all with 6 other phone covers (otterbox, pelican and other cheap brands)

    • Yep same. Especially the tempered glass ones.

    • Yep, this seems to be the case with the new cases (at least iPhone 13 Pro). Wasnt with the older ones. Real shame. They clearly didn't test much. I hacked mine with a scalpel.

    • My phone's don't usually have quadlock cases available for them so I just grab the universal mount and stick it on the case I use. Makes it easier to avoid these problems.

  • +2

Nice! bought the Wireless CarPlay for $97.97. Let's see how it goes. 30 day returns if it doesn't work with my vehicle

    • I have ordered the same and hoping that it would be a great buy with 30% off

    • Ordered but just realised that it does not come with USB-C (in this day and age). Wondering what it would do to my Hi-Res music that I often play directly connected.

      • +1

So many Apple CarPlay devices on the market have flakey connection issue. Does this Quad Lock CarPlay work better others on the market?

      • True, to be far most vehicles still use the older USB in the car and if not already support wireless CarPlay. Highly doubt any difference using the older USB anyway (or a converter) The iPhones lightning port is USB 2.0…in 2022

    • Didn't know they sold CarPlay….

I got the wireless charger, but it doesn't charge as fast as direct connection, so I just plug it in directly anyway.

Their windscreen mount uses adhesive as well as minimal suction, so once the adhesive gets dirty/less sticky, the mount keeps falling off in the heat.

      • Had the same problem with the suction mount, mine was a v2 purchased in 2019. Contacted support in 2021, was told to get the v4. They did send me a 20% discount code but never bothered to get another one.

It's a good system, especially if you are into other sports/activities. But I'm not a fan of that thick wobbly case. I think the newer cases can lay flat and slightly thinner.

        • I'm pretty sure the one I have is a V3 or V4 then (got it 2020 I think?) but still bad design on their end.

Yeah, I got them due to me having a motorcycle, and definitely want a mount that won't break off at high speed wobbles.

Those vent mounts are better imho, as it cools down the phone at the same time, especially with summer coming up

    • +1

Amazing how cheaply wireless car play can be achieved. Car manufacturers make it such a big deal for having such features.

    • What car do you have? I was excited to get mine but it didn't work in either our VW Golf or Skoda Kodiaq (freezing issue). It worked in my SIL's Suzuki Vitara though.

Quad lock refunded my money and I got to keep the carplay unit.

      • +1

I’ve seen a few alternative Car Play devices which also state they don’t work with BMW. Sounds like it’s hit and miss but worked out well for you!

  • I want one for my motorbike but I'm going to replace it in the future and I'll want a forkstem one for it, not handle bar. Seems like a waste to buy it unless I just get the case.

    • +5

You will also need the damper for motorcycle applications, due to vibrations.

      • I sort of wish there was a better design for the damper, it just makes my phone bounce all over the place

      • Only if you have an iPhone
If your phone doesn't have have their kind of image stabilization, the vibrations shouldn't damage it

        • True, the damper is more for newer phones with IS. Lots of riders used the mount without the damper (which is a relatively new product) for years without issues.

    • Just do what I do, get the universal adapter instead of getting the case.

I've got the handlebar mount, might get a mirror mount one so I can use an old phone as a dash cam. Thought about the fork stem ones but on my bike I'd need to many adapters to avoid it hitting my tank.

      • +1

I've got the mirror mount on my scooter, love it, took a little while to get used to twisting it on but now its second nature. Dampener seems to work well too.

  • Cheers guys. Daughter's present sorted. Wireless carplay adapter (which I'd never heard of)
Wouldn't have bought it at 140 but happy to at 97.
I love all my quadlock bike stuff except the ugly fat wireless charger. I cant believe I fell for it. Plugging in a usb c lead is prefereable to the not at all elegant wireless charging head especially when it includes the vibration damper.

  • +4

Amazing product, highly recommend. Do not use any other mounts on you bikes/ motorbikes

    • OzBargain Bikies appreciate this.

    • Which mount do you use? My old bike does not have hole in the fork stem bolt so I can’t really get the fork stem one (probably my preferred one), it uses clip style handlebar so the normal bar mount is no go, leaves me with the mirror mount. Just wondering if it’s any good / safe to use on bigger faster bike?

      • I use stem mount. Havent used mirror mounts, but i guess you need to tighten the mirror bolt to prevent mirror from folding. I am sure it should be fine, quadlock makes good stuff.

      • My mirror mount is very sturdy despite my worry that it might slide, just need to make sure mirror stem nut is done up enough at the base.

    • +1

      My Ram mount would disagree
I've ridden for years doing single track & fire trails, adventure riding and everything in between and never had an issue

      • I too have the RAM Mount X-Grip on my motorbike. I like that it is adaptable with different length arms and orientations on the ball. Also with the other attachments I use the suction cup mount for holding it to the windscreen of car for a camera or to hold the phone.
The cons are it is bulkier and heavier but you don't have to have a custom case for it and I like my Spigen cases.

      • I had ram mount x grip and its shit, first speed bump and my new samsung s8+ at that time was gone. Not sure what kind of trails do you ride, or your suspension takes all to the load, but that might be the case

        • Fairly intense single track around Coffs Harbour mostly on a DR650 with stiffer suspension for my fat arse
I have plenty of mates on prissy Euro 2 strokes who've had the same good experience with ram mounts as me

          • @sp0rk: Nice, may be mine got old and after years and spings sug not providing sufficient grip. Mine was fine on the motorbike, but as soon as i put it on my ebike, it was a disaster

  • Ooooh thanks for this! Word from a friend with ties to Quad Lock is that their 30% off promo isn't meant to go live until the 10th, so it looks like they've enabled the code in preparation for the sale, most likely thinking no one would figure it out haha Brilliant idea checking this code OP! Very clever indeed. I've now stocked up early on all my Quad Lock goodies that I had locked and loaded for Black Friday. Thanks!!

    • +1

Lol I’ve been waiting for months just to get a quad lock deal. So I thought last night why don’t I test the codes out to see if I could get the discount earlier.

$8.95 shipping really kills the value.

    • +3

      Order more then lol

    • Free freight, used to be, around $39 I think.
At least, earlier this year, I wasn't charged freight for a $40 spend.
No idea how much it is now, as I've easily spent over the threshold just on upgrades ….

  • thanks for sharing op! really wanted to get one but prefer to go caseless on my ihone

    • You can buy a universal mount which sticks on an exisiting case or the phone itself.

      https://www.quadlockcase.com.au/products/universal-adapter

      • Does this mount prevent wireless charging?

        • +2

It shouldn’t, you can still do wireless charge but I did find that you have to hit a certain spot to get it to charge on a charge pad. This is based of my experience with the quad lock case and a charge pad.

      • considered it but want to be able to put it on and take it off which doesnt work

      • Unfortunately they say the universal mount cannot adhere to cases made of material such as silicone, TPU, leather, etc :(

  • +2

Thank you OP, been meaning to get a solid in car mount. Two cars sorted for $120 is well worth it.

  • 2nd mount was purchased! nice share.

I only wanted a $20 Mount, so Pushy's 15% off with free delivery is the better deal! (FRENZY15)

    • Link. That's a good alternative if only needing one item

      • www.pushys.com.au code on front page

      • had a pushy and lasted 2 weeks before it broke, def go with quad lock instead!

    • Thanks for the heads up! Actually bought bike lock I’ve been meaning to get but couldn’t be bothered paying for delivery..

  • +1

If you are going to get into Quad Lock, might as well also order the Utility Clip and possible the Ring attachment.

    • +1

You can get those 'rings' from AliEx for under AU$ 3 (and about AU$ 5 , if integrated with the case).

However, they won't be as robust as a Quad-Lock ring/case,
and the best thing about the Quad-Lock ring is that it can sit recessed inside the groove.

This alone makes it a great purchase (even though it's pricey as a ring )

  • +2

Just bought the New - Car - Wireless CarPlay Adaptor.
It’s great if your car stereo has wired Apple CarPlay.
Just take note, it doesn’t work with Android Auto.

    https://www.quadlockcase.com.au/products/wireless-carplay-ad…

    • Interestingly it doesn't mention supported iPhones, which suggests that all CarPlay capable iPhones can also do wireless (since iPhone 5 with iOS 7.1 in 2014).

BMW was the first to introduce CarPlay in 2016, then wirelessly in 2017. Wireless CarPlay uses Bluetooth for commands and WiFi for data, so no ground breaking technologies there. But it took a whole 5 years to sort of become more common but still not yet mainstream.

      • speaking of bmw, is there an easy way to get carplay on an older car (2015)?

        • DIY or car audio installer. One cost skill and time, the other cost money. Not hard.
The kits are pretty standard for each car model.

For BMW, look up internet search for car stereo for old bmw + “your car year & model”

Can someone share experience with their car vent mount? How stable they are?

    https://www.quadlockcase.com.au/collections/shop-car/product…

I’m always experiencing issues with vent mounts. They don’t hold well vent at the back and fell off.

    • im not a fan of the vent mounts.. too much weight can break the fins of the vent had that issue before

      • I also hate vent mount for blocking the cold air or hot air from that vent when I need it.

  • I have a phone with dimensions 163.3 x 75.9 x 8.9 mm (Xiaomi Poco X3 GT) - would any of the Samsung Galaxy ones (which are slightly different sizes) still work?

I'd like to avoid buying the universal mount as I have a case that wouldn't adhere to the universal mount.

    • there's no Xiaomi love from Quadlock

    • +1

using a Samsung Quadlock case for Xiaomi is not a good idea. it will not fit securely. Best to buy a generic flat-back case for your Xiaomi and stick a Quadlock universal mount on that. that's what I did to my Redmi.

  • wish there was click & collect!

  • +1

I've got the wireless charge case and I find the wireless charge doesn't function 80% of the time (iPhone Mini 12), anyone else suffer the same fate?
