Are these beans going to have a roast date or take the path of supermarket coffees and put a 1-2 year expiry date? If so how can it have a march roast date? I was never able to work out how this can happen. When i buy fresh beans they are good after 5 days and go stale after 4-6 weeks. My experience is consistent with what most websites would tell you.

I stopped buying from grocery stores and wait of a deal on hear from a local roaster that ships to me. When i receive it, it is only a day or 2 old. i drink 2 cups a day, everyday, and so does my wife. so 1 kg bag last me between 2-3 weeks. freshly roasted brews amazing with a beautiful crema. Anything i buy from the grocery store barely makes any crema if at all.

    • They do have roast dates on them, bought a bag this week, roasted only a few days prior, keen to try them for cold brew.

You want real organice coffee? Get it from the source. I was in a colombian coffee farm two months ago and watched them making and explaining the coffee process to me. It was an eye opener.

Most coffees on the supermarkets are very poor source and not toasted right (burnt beans).

Just stating the coffee is from brazil is not enough to convince anyone that it is quality. How about to give us the name of the manufacturer so we can search who is really producing the coffee?

Five Senses is great according to my Perth co-workers, but damned expensive.
Currently on clearance at my local Coles in Sydney.

Five Senses is great.. problem is, most of the stock i've seen has been sitting on the shelf since they started ranging it because nobody wants to spend $60/kg on beans.

This means most of these are about 8-9 months old at least

  • Yeah, bought a 250g bag of Sightseer because my regular sub was delayed and i had run out of beans and because 50% off.
Roast date on mine is 10/03/22 with a Best before date of 10/11/22.
Definitely stale beans. very minmal crema. Taste is OK.
If you are lucky enough to find a bag with a roast date within the week, this would be a bargain.

  • Have never seen this on the shelves of 3 coles near Epping, NSW.

  • Just on Five Senses - I currently drink the Darkhorse for my espresso - but at 59/kg delivered its getting a bit too pricey.

Any suggestions for something similar at a better price? - Any brand - not just 5 senses

  • I got a bag and roast date was March. It's only average tasting, and obviously not much of a crema. Would be very convenient if the supermarkets could ensure fresh stock and keep the price reasonable under <$30 a kg all the time, they wouldn't have trouble moving stock..
