@BigDaddy365: Sorry I thought Microsoft still allows full functional installs (except visual personalisation changes), so legit installs of retail versions but without activation

where do you buy your keys and how much for?

        • That's an undisclosed agreement between us and the seller.

          • -4

            @coathanger007: 😂

So you can't even tell us what marketplace/seller you buy it from?

    • whats $20version?

  • What's the I/o like? Hdmi? Dp? Bluetooth?etc? thanks

"Apart from the case" so power supply is used one too?

    • +6

The power supply is not part of the case. It's brand new.

  • -6

Has HDMI port? if so can you deliver to 2135 NSW, say $525?

    • Yes has HDMI port. Vic only.

  • +2

Would this be refurbished then? Isn't this needs to be flagged in the Deal heading?

  • Do the new parts come with manufacturer warranty?

    • Our store warranty is only 12 months. Anything more is at the discretion of the manufacturer.

      • +12

Australian consumer law may have a very different view on that.

        • It's a $499 PC. 1 year warranty is all you're getting

        • +1

I'm not trying to sound like a jackass but I was curious the answer regarding consumer law, so where would you look this up to find out? I tried the ACCC site and it's written pretty vague

Edit: nevermind, another commenter has a good link

      • Looks like someone needs an upskill on ACL.

        • -6

Store warranties are voluntary and typically 12 months.

          • +4

@coathanger007: Stores have legally mandated warranty obligations.

Back in my day it was called the Trade Practices Act, but it looks like there was a rebranding in 2010.

You should read this. Bigger and meaner companies than yours have been dragged into court to be handed high-six-figure fines.

            https://consumer.gov.au/australian-consumer-law/legislation

            • @jcon: Yes our store warranty does not exclude obligations under the consumer law. A plain English guide can be found here:
              https://www.accc.gov.au/system/files/Warranties%20and%20refu…

We do sympathise with businesses trying to do their best to keep prices down while adhering to 'reasonable' standards under ACL.

              • +5

@coathanger007: Business tip: Don't complain about ACL to your potential customers.

                • -4

@Aureus: We are already providing 12 months warranty on a product that is being sold cheaper than any other retailer at this point in time. Customers who bring up ACL despite this are really not customers we want to deal with.

                  • +9

@coathanger007: Just provide what is required by ACL and don't complain. You may think ACL is unreasonable, but don't go broadcasting that on what is basically an advertisement for your business. Strong MSY vibes.

                    • -2

@Aureus: It's fair that people know what we're about. For those who want 3 years store warranty and a PC tailor made right down to the dust filter we are not for you. Try Aftershock but be prepared to pay a premium price.

                      • +2

@coathanger007: The simple reality, is that is not your decision to make. ACL states reasonable amount of time. 12 months is not a reasonable amount of time for computer components. You stating only 12 months warranty is simply not going to hold up if something in that PC breaks down 18/24 months in. You will be required to repair or replace it, end of story.

                        • @ONEMariachi: The guide linked to above makes it clear typical store warranty is 12 months. This is reflected in the terms of sale for other PC retailers. Some retailers do offer paid extended warranty but the base warranty is 12 months.

                          https://www.centrecom.com.au/terms
Centre Com provides 12 month “RTB” (Return-To-Base) warranty from the purchase date on goods we sell.

                          https://www.scorptec.com.au/terms_and_condition/ext_warranty…
The normal period of labour warranty cover for any Scorptec System is 12 months only.

                          12 months standard warranty

@coathanger007: You should read all the sentences after the 12 months part in that guide. I have a strong feeling you are not understanding it at all. This is the same thing MSY attempted, and they got sued out of the wazoo. My above statement still stands.

                            • @ONEMariachi: Ourselves and all other PC retailers will stand by our 12 months standard warranty on new builds.

                              • +1

                                @coathanger007: That’s nice

                                • @ONEMariachi: If you read the MSY case carefully you'll see it was concerned with warranty on brand new products under 12 months.

                                  • +3

                                    @coathanger007: No worries.
It’s fine if you want to advertise thoroughly that you don’t have confidence in your products lasting more than 12 months to potential customers. That’s your prerogative. If you were smart though. You’d stop now. You’ve already lost, i’d guarantee, many customers here already. But you do you. It’s your business and you’re welcome to advertise it how you see fit. I won’t be engaging you any further, nor will I ever be buying from your business.

                                    • -1

@ONEMariachi: We have confidence in our product and genuine customers attest to that. We don’t however cater for every customer. Have a nice weekend bud.

                          • +2

@coathanger007: Like ONEMariachi, i'm pretty sure you have a wonky understanding of your obligations as a retailer under ACL. CentreCom even has caveats in their T&C:

                            General Warranty:
…, not exempting any rights you have under ACL (Australian Consumer Law).

Which doesn't even touch on the fact they themselves have clauses which probably wouldn't hold up, like

You must pay for return shipping.

Maybe it's a lack of specificity here, but the retailer must reimburse for any return shipping in the case where the product was found defective.

Regarding your claim that 12 months is normal, two of the three examples you provide are warranties on the assembly of the goods, not the components themselves. So yeah, you're probably correct that 12 months is a reasonable timeframe to claim warranty on the assembly/labour warranty, but that would not fly for any defects in the parts. i.e, if you assemble and sell a build, and the mobo dies after 1.5 years, i'm fairly sure you would have a hard time defending against a litigious customer demanding you repair or replace the part.

Either way i'm not in VIC so not your target market, but this sort of ignorance is not a great look for a retailer.

                            • +1

@ssfps: Nothing we've said has exempted any rights under ACL. Feel free to exercise your rights should you feel the need. Having said that we'd rather the litigious customer shop elsewhere.

                  • -1

                    @coathanger007: And………………………….at that comment I'm out !!!!

  • Link is to PC with 240GB SSD in title but 512GB in description. Is this offer definitely for a 512GB SSD?

    • Corrected. Yes 512gb.

  • Time to upgrade your old workstation

It's not a workstation. Actual Workstations have server grade components and certified GPUs.

    • touché, I just upgraded my "workstation" with a sticker that reads "work harder".

  • +3

Seems like an odd choice to build inside a 2nd hand/used case. Just open yourself up for scrutiny and criticism for a saving of $20-30.

Can imagine getting complaints about quality, scuffs marks etc. May as well just up the price to $520 and have it in a brand new case just to avoid having people scrutinise.

Apart from that, it's a really good bang for buck system for kids - homework, light gaming (Minecraft/eSports titles)

    • Every dollar counts for ozbargainers. If anyone is interested in paying an extra $50 for a brand new case we will be happy to accomodate.

    • It's like it's being done to keep the system classified as a used/refurbished sale.

      • +3

The choice of case is simply to keep the cost down. Again if any ozbargainers would prefer a new case we can accomodate for $50 extra.

  • +12

Example build with parts you would be happy to recommend to a friend
OP's XPG memory looks like 3600 CL18, 3200 CL16 has the same latency and Kingston is a better brand
Decent PSU chosen as well, not sure what OP has used

    Type Item Price
    CPU AMD Ryzen 5 5600G 3.9 GHz 6-Core Processor $169.00 @ MSY Technology
Motherboard ASRock B550M-HDV Micro ATX AM4 Motherboard $95.00 @ BPC Technology
    Memory Kingston FURY Beast 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3200 CL16 Memory $79.00 @ Scorptec
    Storage TEAMGROUP MP33 512 GB M.2-2280 PCIe 3.0 X4 NVME Solid State Drive $53.00 @ Centre Com
Case Antec NX200M MicroATX Mid Tower Case $49.00 @ Umart
Power Supply MSI MAG A550BN 550 W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply $59.00 @ BPC Technology
    Total $504.00
    • Yes if you can build your own PC then the price of parts will not include labour.

      • What make/model/wattage power supply is used in your PC?

        • It’s just a generic 230w office power supply. Not for gaming. We have more powerful systems for that.

          • @coathanger007: OK, is the power supply new, used or refurbished?

            • +3

@Look Up: lol already been answered above. New. Even comes with pretty packaging and power cord.

              • +2

@coathanger007: As other posters have commented, as soon as you mix new and used parts, the entire deal looks suspicious

The fact that you clearly listed the PSU make/model/wattage and condition in previous deals and not this one was already a red flag

                https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/729316
                https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/719234

Obviously a 230W power supply for this spec of PC - even if new - is a negative for most people on OzBargain

If you want to use OzBargain to promote your business, that is fine

Just be warned we can sniff BS from a mile away

Good luck on your family business

    • +6

@highmargin you forgot to add in somewhere between $25-50 for postage for all those items from different stores. Also some of them aren't in stock at the stores listed.

    • Retail copy of Windows 10 (even just Home) also adds ~$140 to the cost if you buy through normal consumer channels: https://au.pcpartpicker.com/product/96RFf7/microsoft-windows…

(Obviously can be done much cheaper if you do grey market, student copies, etc.)

  • Looks pretty chunky for an Office PC

  • +1

Windows 10 Pro 64-bit does it come with a key if it needs to be reinstalled or is the key attached to MB?
Also how is the cooling for this PC? Any dust filters on this case?

    • Also is the case dust free since it's a second hand case?

      • Dust free.

    • Comes with a key which is not needed on reinstallation.

      • What about cooling, dust filters and noise level?

        • Nice and quiet, doesn't need any more cooling than your average office PC. Keeping the PC off the ground will help reduce dust build up.

          • @coathanger007: So what fans does the case have? Any intake fans? Any out-take fans?

            • @AceIsMe: Out-take fan

              • +1

@coathanger007: So I'm guessing the case does not have any dust filters right?

                • @AceIsMe: It has a grill. If you want a new case with dust filter we can install one for $50. Otherwise it's quite easy to add a dust filter using material from Bunnings.
