Bonus write up for newbies to keyboard on what to consider.
There are plenty of options if you’re not familiar, I’ll simplify it. There is no one better than the other option. They are just personal choice. You need to decide:-
1) keyboard size - full size, TKL (Ten Key-less), mini
2) Standard or low profile (MX or MV switch)
3) Choose switches (clicky, tactile, linear) https://twitter.com/cherrymx/status/1001127382806384641
4) wired or wireless (wired best for gaming, wireless best for convenience)
5) RGB or NBL (LED back light or none)
6) colour, laser/doubleshot keycap, etc

  • What does 'collection point' mean? Every keyboard I looked at requires you to pay the delivery fee.

    • Delivered to a collection point i.e. not your home/business address. Could be a post office, parcel locker etc.

      • Yup, Collection point could be your nearby news agency too

His main complaint is mushy feel to the keys, but the keyboard his tested had Silent Red switches which kinda explains this?

      • Silent switches don't necessarily have to be mushy feeling. Unless you're referring to the fact that they're linears

        • +3

The rubber stoppers inside the actual switch to reduce the bottom out and rebound noise are guaranteed to make it feel somewhat more mushy. Exactly how much that bothers you is personal, but it's a known property of Silent switches compared to their regular counterparts.

          • @Erwark: Well be very fair, the mushiness and the noise differ between the switches.

Some of the newer switches actually use the shape of the stems which i found nice to use (it still makes noise on upstroke as it doesn't have dampeners inside).

      • Yup, silent red is good option for office use. It’s quiet and doesn’t disturb others

    • Price could definitely be cheaper.

  • How would it compare to Kogan’s cherry switch keyboard? https://www.kogan.com/au/buy/kogan-full-rgb-cherry-mx-mechan…

    • You're comparing one keyboard that has silent linear switches and one that has normal, tactile switches. If you're wondering if Kogan's keyboard has real Cherry switches, the description does say 'Premium Cherry MX switch'

Besides that, you're pretty much paying a lot for the branding of this keyboard. Just like any other mechanical gaming keyboard from Razer, Corsair, etc. Won't be much difference in terms of functionality.

    What's "Even Costco"??

    • On the off chance that you're not just trolling, Costco is selling them for $179.99.

The "even" implies that Cosco would normally be expected to be cheaper, although just like with Aldi, that's a perception is based on the marketing of those businesses as discount outlets more than reality in many cases.

No i wasn't trolling and thanks for responding. That is not a standard title format that I see here thus scratching my head on that phrase. It's better suited to be in the description.

And that's probably why it's been reported and taken off the title by mods now.

        Cheers.

  • Was looking for a quiet keyboard to use in the office, but this one doesn't have many reviews on amazon, so went with a corsair k60 low profile one for $89 which got less stars because it was not pleasing some gamers.

    • How does it feel to use Corsair k60 for office typing purpose? Better than that of thrown-in free keyboards?

Don't know yet, will receive today. I have a tecware phantom 104 key, which uses oumetu brown switches, slightly quieter than a cherry brown switches one. Think to get a different maybe even quieter one for office.

I've tried it. It feels even quieter than the office $10 ones. Because of the switch, it doesn't have the bump feeling anymore, but still way better than the office ones. I did think between this and speed silver switches ones, but guess there is no way to find out.

        • Sounds great. Thanks. I will try to get a mechanical keyboard as well.

Hilarious how keyboard marketing has made it acceptable to charge more for less (TKL costs more than a full-sized keyboard despite having less keys and the same functionality? Lol).
