    Thank you.

The padded is the better choice for peeps who like to sit on their legs and for long time right?

I heard the mesh can get uncomfortable for long periods or if you are chonky like me.

Also would this be the best one under $200? I had a look at the IKEA Markus and didn't like the curved armrests as it gets in the way and can't sit on me legs.

    • +4

i have a mesh one, it can be quite uncomfortable if you like to fold your legs or sit anything other than upright.

    • +8

I'm 100kg - I have padded at home and a mesh at work and I find the mesh a lot more comfortable because it keeps your back/butt cool.

I've had no issues with comfort or support with Mesh for long stints.. having said that, the mesh at work is a 10yo Herman Miller Mirra chair which is holding up quite well.

      • +2

I have a HM Mirra with mesh at home and prefer it over my Sayl (which has the padded seat)

    • +2

Have the mesh and while would never go back to a padded personally, find it very comfy and much cooler…. and I'm not slim :)

      • +1

May I ask if it’s still comfy when you wearing shorts during hot summer and sit on mesh ? I’ m concern my legs will get “holes mark” when sitting on the mesh for long…

        • Live in Qld so wear shorts most of the year.

    • +1

Good tidbit on ppl who rests on their legs but I’m kinda afraid the padded seats won’t be as durable compared to mesh.

      • +1

I always thought mesh base would sag quicker.

I have a mesh base at work and find it gets a bit itchy after a while and is impossible if you want to sit on your legs.

    • I have the Markus, armrests are easily removable

    • -1

Save your coccyx. I broke mine sitting on a mesh equivalent from ergo human. Made the mistake of sitting on my legs. Go for the padded one and learn from my life long mistake.

      • So the mesh broke or what?
Been using a Mirra for 3+ year. Mesh for the win :-)

      • +4

You broke your coccyx from sitting on your legs on a mesh chair? How did that happen (unless I misunderstood of course)?

        • You didn't. No idea. I probably have osteoporosis. I've stopped caring at this point.

    • +1

Regards to the IKEA Markus, the armrests are a bit restrictive to people who fold their legs, I modded my chair with some longer bolts and spacers to make the armrest wider :)

    • I have a mesh chair and putting a pillow on the seat was a game changer, the mesh was nice but this took it to the next level.

  • My ebay massage office chair had given up :p. Anyone has first time experience? Interested. Thanks

    • Lol I'm replacing my vinyl eBay massage chair as well. It's all peeled away.

Hey peeps, I own one of these, have had for about 8 months. They are quite well built, heavy base and an extremely good looking chair.

I have found it quite comfortable, I have the mesh version as pictured, white with blue mesh. The adjustable arms are great for gaming to get the right height for keyboard / mouse etc.

The only thing I find a little pointless is the headrest, but that is only because I don't make much use of it.

Overall is a good quality chair, there has been no sag or anything in the mesh and I am happy with it.

I payed full price, $225 so is a fair deal at this price.
Hope this helps a few of you out. :)

    • +12

Thank you. I'ma go with the padded base for my absolute dump truck of an ass.

      • I'm 105kg and no issue with the mesh. Is pretty comfy :)

      • +2

I did the same. Weight wise I'm only 83kg, but I train lower body twice a week and thus dumpeth trucketh has ensued upon me.

That reminds me of one of my favourite Emily Dickinson poems:

Ummm, you're packed and you're stacked 'specially in the back
Brother, oughta thank your mother for a butt like that
Can I get some fries with that shake-shake booty?
If looks could kill you would be an uzi

          • @gosm: More affectionately know as Emily "Shoop" Dickinson

    • Hi mate, just a quick question as I am hesitant which colour to order.
Is the blue more like the images or the first video on the mydeal link above.
If you scroll down, there is a 360 video showcasing the chair. The blue tone is very different in the video and images.
      Cheers!

      • +1

The blue tone in the 360 is more on the mark. It's a darker blue, is quite nice.

    • Thanks for the review, 1 quick question if you dont mind. From the side, it looks like the seat is way too curved in the middle. Would this hurt the butt as the seat isnt flat? Also I am assuming the hand rest are fixed, that is no up and down movement on them? Thanks.

      • I bought a very similar if not the same chair from Kogan 2 years ago.

I do find the curve on the sit making my bottom sore after hours of sitting on it. It's not unbareable, but I see myself moving back and forth quite a bit.

        • OK, thanks for sharing. I prefer sponge seats with mesh back. never tried mesh seats tho. None of the offices I worked for had them :)

      • Hey mate, the armrests are height adjustable but don't move left to right.

The seat is fine with the curve, I think is like that to give the mesh to correct tension.

I have used for hours on end and no issues with comfort.

        • Cool, thanks mate :)

    • Would you know if the base (where your bum hits) can be adjusted at a tilt? I prefer the base to be slightly upward tilting so that my legs feel supported instead of feeling like im sliding down the chair.

      • +1

If you ever find a chair that actually does this, can you PM me, because I've been looking for years for a chair that does this.

      • +1

There’s no way to adjust the base tilt independently of the backrest

It will tilt slightly when you lean back (along with the backrest) then you can lock that position in

    • Thx for the info. Does the back have a free float/swing setting? and can you adjust how stiff it is?

      • +1

Yep you can. That big knob under your legs adjust the tension for leaning back

    • +1

Seconding this! I bought mine in April 2021 and no issues with it so far. Great chair for the price.

Exactly the same thoughts on the headrest, I have completely removed mine lol.

    • How wide is the seat?

    • Hey! Thanks for your feedback. Does this have the tilt function for the back? Could you adjust the angle of the tilt and let it stay that way (without pressure needed constantly) (I like lying backwards a bit while watching a movie on my monitor)

      TIA :D

  • +4

I purchased this chair the last time it went in sale. Fairly happy with the quality given the price level, but the mesh can be a bit uncomfortable for bare skin, mainly while wearing shorts and the mesh rubbing the back of your legs.

The headrest is great and I've definitely noticed my posture improve. It was super easy to assemble too.

    • mesh can be a bit uncomfortable for bare skin

so not a good idea for those to like to sit on legs, imagine the mesh pattern forms on the skin?

    • Hi just wondering how tall you are, and if this chair/headrest might suit someone around 6'2? Thanks :)

  • Replacing my garbage gaming chair with this. Thanks for posting.

    • Is a good step up, I did the same and should have done it years ago.

      • my trusty old Office Works exec pleather chair died right as lockdown v1 kicked off. office works gaming chair was literally the last chair I could get within my radius. Im not even going to give it away, just chuck it out.

Id rather spend 8hrs a day in the Recaro in my car than a 'gaming' chair.

  • Got the padded base few months ago. Amazing value.

  • Picked one up. Thanks OP

  • Can someone share the link to the padded option?

I'm coming from a leather chair so I don't really know whether to go for mesh or padded, I'm 70kg and think mesh would be ok.

    • +2

It's the last link in the original post

      • Thanks mate

  • +4

What would people suggest to buy - the padded or mesh? I myself am not chonccy per se but I am built with a decent dump truck. Currently sitting around 83KG. I'm thinking of replacing my "gaming" chair that I purchased from Officeworks a few years back when COVID hit and was WFH full-time (now WFH 3 days).

EDIT: Went with the padded one. Thanks OP. $179 with SHOPAPP and free shipping, that's pretty sweet.

    • If you read the prior comments, the recommendation is for the mesh one in your situation.

  • Thanks OP, ordered one.

EDIT: Will be upgrading from my almost decade old Metro Buro.

  • Thanks OP, ordered one.

  • +1

Got this chair early this year, price wasn't as good as this but it is very worth the money so far. Go for it Ozbargainers!

  • Got one too, thanks OP!

  • is the padded seat one better?

  • How will this be for tall people? I'm about 185cm-190cm so wondering whether the whole ergo stuff will even be useful to me…

    • +1

The headrest will be too short for you (too short for me at 175cm) so I just have it removed and the specific lumbar is more a gimmick due to having no strength (75kg for me).

Main thing you’d run into is your shoulders hitting the hard top and sides of frame as mine do.

      • I see, with that in mind, do you think it would still be worth it? $189 still seems like a pretty reasonable price to me given the average price of decent quality ergo chairs even if it is missing the headrest haha

  • +1

$34 shipping. Oh well, no new chair for me

    • free for syd metro

    • Limited free shipping. NW Sydney for me.

    • +1

Same here - $34 shipping to Launceston.

    • +1

$54 to me in WA, shame.. was seriously considering getting 2x of these.

Wouldn't be so bad if it was for both but they want to charge $54 per chair…. :/

    • 40 to 6167 oh well better than 90$ from all previous deals

  • +2

how does it compare to Aldi $99 one?

  • +1

Can’t decide between mesh or padded version lol

    • +5

Get both. One for Winter and the other for Summer. Your bum will love you for it.

  • +4

For those who can't decide mesh or padded, go for mesh, $40 discount. Padded was cheaper, so only $10 discount. :D

    Mesh is a better deal.

    • This is one authentic OzBargainer!

  • +2

    Padded it is. Champ OP.

  • Looks like a decent deal, other chairs usually cost $100+ premium just for polished aluminium base. Not sure how well it will hold up over time. I guess should be fine if you keep it clean to prevent rust spots.

  • Does anyone know how far back these tilt/lean?

    • -1

There's no tilt built in, but a lever to slide the base of the seat forward. If you're wanting a recline, this may not be the one for you.

      • +1

        Adjustable height & tilt

What does tilt mean here then? Genuine question

  • What's the material of the surface for the one with padded seat? I'm a bit concerned about sweat going into the pad…

  • Damn is there no blue in mesh base? Blue looks great

    • the blue is mesh base isn't it

      • +1

Ohh yeah you right. Need more coffees today

  • +1

Can you choose not to install the headrest? I'm short so those are more uncomfortable than anything

    • I'd like to know this too - also the armrests. Armrests can cause upper back and neck pain over long periods.

      • +2

Yes you can leave both the armrest and headrest off
That’s how I have mine set up now

    • +1

In one of the photos it shows it without the headrest. It looks to clip in so you should be able to do without it.

  • This or Buro Alto

    • That looks like ass and doesn't seem as adjustable or flexible.

  • Bought one similar to this. Still ErgoDuke just different model. Have had it for a year and it's ok for the price but definitely better than those gaming chairs I sat on.

After a year, I can feel that the mesh base starting to lose its tension, it's a bit flushy now when I sit on it. Build quality is good, just the mesh.

The chair has 3 level of back tilting. Headrest has 2 level from my memory. Can't adjust to something in between
