Thermoelectric fridges are a bit weak. I have a similar Waeco unit which came free with a larger fridge.

Yeah wouldn't really replace a fridge, but good to help keep things colder for longer on a trip for example. Or to keep some drinks cool. But wouldn't cool them down super quickly.

Mine is collecting dust in the shed and I used an iceblock in an esky instead for day trips.

    • Agreed. They wont work well with Australian Hot Climate, I ran one for a Week. Compressor Fridge work Better.

Thermoelectric fridges shouldn't be a thing anymore.

One of these would be far better than those.

  • No way it can get down to 3 unless you put everything in your household fridge the night before and add a layer of ice underneath, by then an esky can achieve similar results with chewing through the battery.

    • I was given an old Waeco Tropicool 32L and was surprised by how cold it got (though does depend on the ambient temp). Moisture on the inside was freezing, had to turn it down. I did prechill my drinks but don't use ice.

Only downside is it draws more power than my 65L compressor fridge, and the cooling fan runs non-stop whether the peltier is on or not, pretty loud but does the job for days trips.
Don't know if they are any different these days, this thing must be at least 10 years old.

That said, wouldn't pay this much for a thermocooler when can get a 15L compressor fridge for a similar price.

I got the 14L and it's alright for drinks on short trips. Not too bulky and does the job. Just remember to pre-chilled your drinks for at least 24hrs before departure. If i were to go on camping for a few days or week, then my National Luna 50L will step in.

Yeah may go ahead and cancel this order. Didn't really see the compressor option before. Something like this?

      Adventure Kings 20L Portable Camping Fridge Freezer 12V / 240V Home Car 4WD 4X4 https://amzn.asia/d/iwAfftC

      • Perfect size

      • Good price considering it's shipped and sold by 4WD Supacentre yet they are charging more on their own website..

Jaycar has Rovin 15L compressor fridge for $149 right now

    • Was going to mention that also, but didn't think was any stock around. Also is pretty much the same as the brass monkey which wouldn't have the height OP wants.

      • Brass monkey have 3 year warranty FYI.
        Rovin 2 year.
