site says "less than 150 seats". so 0 is less than 150….

    • I was going to say the same thing, its been zero since I got the email so I don't think its working.
      Every other destination is working

    • Damn was hoping I'd get one after midnight

Recently had a Qantas flight cancelled. There was a jetstar flight soon after to the same destination. Qantas staff tried to transfer passengers to jetstar flight, jetstar staff said no room. Qantas staff announced sorry we can't put anyone on the jetstar flight as there is no room. Right after, Jetstar staff announce they have 30 spots available at 3 times the normal fair if anyone is desperate. They then also lied to people that they could claim the cost back from Qantas. Absolute grub company.

    • Absolute grub company.

      They are the same company.

I can't find the free return flight part Vietnam > Sydney….. I am a club member.

  • This is such a rip off. Jetstar sale which ended 2 months ago to Vietnam was $330 return flight to Ho Chi Minh City in the exact same period.

  • +6

Jetstar has allowed me to travel a lot more than I would have, including a few trips to Japan. I appreciate what they've given me.
I'll take cheap, potentially cancelled, flights over no flights.

  • +4

I'd rather airlines charge more and actually turn up rather that tricking us into booking fares then adjusting the flights closer to the flight day for affordability ie there practice is to have say for eg 10 flights on Wed if there not fully booked then they merge flights and adjust times, often its only a few hours but often it can be a AM to a PM which is annoying.

In the EU and USA airlines have to give compensation after cancellations and delays over 3 hours, it can be $1000 pp for international flights and guess what they have a reliable service compared to our 60% ontime percentage.

  • Can anyone confirm that they have been able to book the free return flight ?

Bought this similar deal from last year, still in Vietnam at the moment.

Although we got 1:30 delay, nothing to complain about for a cheap fare.

  • People willingly getting shanghaied, then cry and complain later on about flight cancellations and delays.

    Go Jetstar!

    Let ‘em have the goods

  • +1

Only 7kg of carry on, but it doesn't matter what you weigh so long as you have no more than 7kg, scoot has 10kg + a laptop, with 10kg you don't need checked bags, but with 7kg you need a large trenchcoat with plenty of pockets.

  • How long does one wait until they get their reimbursement paid by Jetstar?

Our flight to Bali in June got cancelled and we spent money for diner and taxi. Jetstar gave us the reimbursement coupon. But until now we haven’t got it.

  • Would you really wanna fly Jetstar after all the delays and cancellations though

  • +1

Jetstar cancelled my flight home from Bali to Sydney (unsurprisingly). They texted me a link to select a new flight in the next 14 days, and reimbursed me for accommodation (up to $150/night), food ($30/day), and transfers to and from the new hotel. I quickly selected the next available flight, but in hindsight I wouldn't have minded a few additional free nights in Bali.

I can imagine it was a nightmare for those with kids or people who had weddings/funerals, etc, but if you can be flexible, I don't mind taking a gamble for the cost savings.

  • Beware of Jetstar, worst flight experience of my life in terms of comfort and service, plus they weigh your cabin luggage to the milligram, in order to charge you for extra baggage. Seriosuly, the worst airline in Australia by far and I would rather spend a few extra couple hundred dollars with another company rather than fly with these c….

    • +1

This is very easy to get around. Just measure your bags properly. If you want to go over, then literally stuff your pockets with all your heavy shit. Put portable batteries down your pants if you need to.

I would rather spend a few extra couple hundred dollars with another company

      Each their own, indeed.

Logged in with club jetstar, see nothing in regards to being able to get return flights free for international flights

  • Looking at Queenstown for $307 and with taxes it comes to $527, really not worth it. Melb to Queenstown btw

    • so it’s a free return then. ?

      • Yeah free return whike almost equalling the fees to the ticket value lol

    • Are you club Jetstar? If not then they're only released from midnight.

  • Thanks OP. I just YOLO'd a flight to ho chi minh for $339 return.

I can now treat that like an extended layover and fly somewhere else from ho chi minh.

This will go nicely with the free travel insurance and free unlimited Priority Pass lounge access from citi prestige card.

    • what dates? I can’t see any for $339 return

      • I'm flying from Sydney and am logged in to jetstar club membership. If you aren't either of those things, then I guess you may see something different.

        • I am both of those things. Sydney, and Club member

          • @chakel: Actually, I think you are a bit late to the game.

There is 1 seat left from ho chi minh for $0 on 3rd august. Other than that, looks like people have already bought all the other tickets. Looks very different to how it did a few hours ago.

            • @watwatwat: Id been looking on and off for most of the day, I finally managed to score return flights in May. Happy Days

              • @chakel: How did you guys find $0 flights? Does it depend on what day you depart? Can't find any all day :(

                • @Feeblely: I literally tried all day, and I swear I saw none. Then early this morning, some flights popped up. just randomly.

                  • @chakel: After you search for dates, do you proceed to select a departure and return day and then click to the next step? If you don't click to the next step, I don't think they show as $0 [but do, after you click].

  • Flights from Perth shafted again.

So BS that it's advertised for Tokyo but no go.

  • +1

Holy scam, batman! Loaded up my "150 tickets left" for Tokyo at the second the sale went 'public' and its the exact same. Nothing.

    • Is it a scam because you are reading it wrong?

Are you sure it doesn't say "Less than 150 seats"? And that is from the date of release to jetstar club members.

    • I think you got saved anyways, going to Japan via Jetstar sounds like a nightmare in itself.

  • Nothing for the route I wanted.

  • The only return flights that i can see are 0$ is Auckland, everything else doesn't look like it's working

  • finally, I was able to book Sydney to Ho Chi Minh thanks OP

  • +1

We used a deal like this in the past for a "free" return flight from Tokyo. While trying to check in for the return flight they could not figure out the booking and made us wait for almost two hours while they tried to call a Jetstar office in Australia to sort it out. Never found out the reason for the delay. Then during the flight, we asked for the meal that we had paid for in advance but they had no record of it so we didn't get it. We complained when we got home but they had no record of us not receiving the meal on the flight and never got any kind of compensation and didn't get an apology for the delayed check-in.

  • when does this sale end?

  • Thanks OP. Grabbed some fares so my mum can come an visit. About a fifth of the current cost of the same fare.

  • For anyone wondering Jetstar made a comment on their facebook post stating there was only ever actually 1 seat available to Tokyo (not specified if per flight or as a whole), bit of cheeky marketing I guess..

    • I have doubts about that claim. Do you have a link?

      • It's an edited comment in response to a commenter on this post if you want to verify:

        https://fb.watch/gpyaw5sY4B/

But here is a screenshot for easy reference:

        https://imgur.com/a/oBWmVHH

        • At the time of the rep writing that comment, perhaps was one seat left. Notice the present tense and not past. And we are very much towards the latter end of the sale period, so it is plausible they sold the rest of the seats and there is one left.

Soo…… I assume the either you read it wrong or the rep is wrong. I doubt they would advertise on TV if they only ever had one seat to this destination.

          • @watwatwat: They just opened the sales for Japan flights now, so I suppose it wasn't a marketing trick but they definitely weren't providing accurate information. Either way - all booked now, thankfully.

Suppose I was jumping the gun.

            • @BurntCrab:

              definitely weren't providing accurate information.

Yeah, I don't think this promotion is run very smoothly.

              Congrats on the ticket.

i cant any free returns from Vietnam.. am I blind or is it all sold out already?

    • Been looking actively since the sale opened last night at 12, tried from the earlier dates as well rather then the preferred August and i can't get the 0$ return fare. Tried to go through the jetstar support and as usual they were 0 help. I don't think they are sold out, as nothing has changed since 12:01 last night, yet i and apparently you can't find any 0$ return

      • Is this from Sydney or elsewhere? All I know is that I looked at flights in the afternoon yesterday and there were plenty of options showing $0. When I went to book mine in the evening, they were almost all gone and I got one of the last ones.

Shortly after I booked in the evening, all the $0 options were gone and I haven't seen any since, so that leads me to believe they sold out yesterday in the evening.

But if they have "less than 200 tickets" in that whole leg/route from Sydney for this sale, then logically I would expect them to sell quite quickly. 200 is not a lot. Thus the public never got access to them (only club jetstar members).

        • This was for Melbourne, I looked yesterday at 12:01 and it's the same options. But you could be right, maybe only the club members got access

    • It must've been sold out way earlier yesterday or nothing on offer because I had club membership but couldn't find any on mel-sgn route last night. But there're plenty of other routes available as of now such as mel-bkk or cns-nrt

  • Wanting a Sydney to Hamilton Island return but only offering Hamilton>Sydney.

If I was to book a Hamilton>Syd return, could I use the flex fare to shift one of the dates across to make it a Syd>Hamilton return trip? Or would it stop you from doing that?

After seeing no free flight for any date I wondered if it worth paying for the Club membership …
