  • I think us East Coasters are going to need these again this year

For $299 the 622 at 12L per day vs. the 610 at 6L per day seems like a great price

    • one is desiccant vs compressor. One doesn't work well under 20c

      • What if you heat your house or keep it around 21 degrees all year round?

        • This depends where you live.

If you're in Melbourne or Tasmania, then heating your house to 21 degrees all year round would be a colossal waste of money !

          • @Nom: Well when im home and only when awake.

  • Already have 2 and they got a good workout last week. :)

    • Did you pick up a dessicant or compressor?

And roughly how loud have you found them?

      • They are both compressors. Loud enough that you wont sleep with them on. :)
We run them during the day mostly and then have one running overnight in the loungroom where we can't hear it.

  • Would leaving the AC on in the main living area, work the same as a de-humidifier?

    • Use the dry setting

      • I do the same but it keeps lowering the temp as well, it might is not always required but it's the best option

    • Potentially, but the Dry setting on AC are not as smart as the sensors of a good dehumidifier (not comments on the quality of this products' sensors and algorithm btw). You're likely to get larger temperature and humidity fluctuations with an AC. Also power cost; the advertised compressor dehumidifier is 230W, while an AC will be 2kW minimum.

      • Air Con can use much less power than that once it's reached temperature (and if it's an inverter, which the vast majority would be now). Nowhere near as efficient at dehumidifying as these though.

  • Anyone know how these compare with Delonghi? and Breville?

    • Can't comment sorry on comparing them but ion max make a bloody great desiccant dehumidifier.

  • If its anything like their air purifiers, their app works really well, but they dont offer public apis to plug into something like home assistant.

    • you can control these dehumidifers with an app?

      • No

      • ah my bad, you need the leone (ION625) or rhine (ION650) versions

  • I can tell you 610 would not work when it's above 20C, it would further heat up the room and makes it uncomfortable:s Then you need to rely on AC or get a compressor one

  • I have the 632 desiccant and a delonghi compressor dehumidifier. In Sydney and I find the compressor works much better than the desiccant version in my place.
Both use around the same amount of power when measuring from the outlet but the compressor seems to collect much more moisture.

I have the 612 in Tassie. Running right now. It's great when it's cold and wet - it makes the room feel much more comfortable. On days when you feel you have to crank the heater right up because it's so humid (but cold) inside it's chilling and very hard to feel warm, running the dehumidifier and drying out the air can make it feel so much better. I often will use the Air con to reach a temperature then the dehumidifier can maintain it (as the desiccant type produce a bit of heat). Quiet enough on Low to watch TV and maybe sleep.

I would buy this brand or Ausclimate. Compressor for summer, desiccant for winter.

610 will do a small room, 612 small to medium, 632 large room or rooms (bit noisier than the small ones on Low).

    • Can you get away with compresser all year round by keeping house temperature at 21 22 degrees. In winter?

      • I guess so if your primary use for one is for summer humidity. I’d contact Ionmax and see what they reckon.

  • Does compressor one cool the environment? I might get one for summers

    • Makes it less humid, so might feel cooler. Certainly more comfortable.

I bought a IONMAX 612 from another place years ago for $369, so I think this is a good deal.

As for user experience, I think they work very well (haven't had any issues over the years), only thing is they run with warm air (even when it's just dehumidifier mode and not clothes drying) so just be mindful of that with the upcoming summer months (great in winter!)

  • I have the 612 and 610 both work amazingly well and pull quite a large amount of moisture from the air. Very happy with them though be mindful they do heat up the air so may not be useful in warmer months. I personally run the a/c in warmer months.
