FYI this Board needs bios update for the 5600g series before it will work you can download the firmware from Asus to USB then press the bios update button it takes about 10 minutes all done .

    • Do you need an older CPU installed first, while the BIOS is being updated?

      • +5

no cpu or memory needed for the BIOS flashback to work, just needs the 24 pin to be connected for it to work

    • You can update without cpu ,i did mine with cpu and ram installed .

    • Wish I read this before buying it. Came back here to tell people. Came with an ancient bios installed. Crazy. Lucky had another build with a 3600 nearby.

Should just fit the NR200 as well (at 244mmx244mm), might be a good option given the state of ITX mobo pricing

    • Too big for NR200. Only the Asus Prime B450M-K fits as per this comment.

      Dimensions of this case are: 8.9 inch x 8.7 inch ( 226 mm x 221 mm )
      Only has three PCIe slots:
      1 x PCIe 3.0 x16
      2 x PCIe 2.0 x1

Well it's certainly not just that one board since I helped do a build with some ASRock b550, fit without issues.

There is a plastic clip you need to remove from one side (no practical impact), then it should support 224x226mm.

Of course it's still an unsupported configuration, and I'd recommend those considering it to do further research to double check.

        • But specs say 9.6" x 9.6", which is 244mm x 244mm, so per your advice it shouldn't fit

          • @suburbanmale: Oops, I actually typoed the measurements above — should be 244mm not 224mm.

But even so, you're right, still probably doesn't fit this board. I was misinterpreting the height (which is the limiting factor, there's plenty of space for width from memory) as being 244mm but it's actually the 226mm dimension. This source wrote Y,X not X,Y for some reason…

I think those dimensions must be with the retention clip in place, as well. The board I used in the last build, the B550M-HDV, is 230mm in height. I'm not sure if there was an extra 14mm clearance there, so even then, removing the clip might not buy enough height to fit this board.

  • This motherboard also supports Ryzen 2000 series CPUs also (I have one and use a 2700 in it).

    • what happened to your old motherboard?

      • +1

It became self aware and threatened to start a union, so I fired it (or I sold it when I switched from a massive EATX case to Micro ATX one, I can not remember which).

        • Interesting. Well this mobo wasn't a bad choice. What case did you get?

          • @Budju: Thermaltake Versa H18. It gets a lot of positive reviews but the one I got had a bent motherboard tray, the two HDD mounts are a massive pain (one is upside down vs the other, making it very hard to run the same power cable to both), the cable routing area is too tight in places and the screws for the io slots strip their holes and leave little bits of metal all over the place.

  • Bought the full sized version for $92 from amazon earlier this year (used like new), flashback is very easy (using 5600)

  • Same seller (First Blood - aufb), same price on Amazon as well, but branded as CHUMAA Gaming MotherboardFit for ASUS TUF Gaming B550M-PLUS for some reason.

    • thats weirdly interesting however the seller has some shaddy things according to the reviews

  • +1

yeah main shop is all in Chinese, I don't think these guys are locals.

    • I think they are local - shop in Oakleigh South VIC, and on Newegg a customer reviewer in the USA mentioned receiving an order shipped from Australia.

Having said that, I dug up their Google reviews, and it looks like:
      1. The products are genuine and do arrive.
      2. Their after sales support is quite bad.
      3. Plenty of fake 5 star reviews, often in Chinese.
      4. They are being review bombed, also often in Chinese.

Combined with the generally poor reviews on Google/AmazonAU/Newegg, I think I'll give this one a miss.

If people still want to gamble they have a B450M Mortar Max for $109 delivered (Basically the best VRM B450 board, equivalent to B550M Aorus Pro or B550M Pro-VDH).

  • So I've rolled the dice with this mob, via Amazon, and already there is a problem:

    10.47am Tue 8 Nov 2022 - 1 item has been transferred to 6502 (brisbane) INCORRECT/INSUFFICIENT ADDRESS QLD
1.42pm Thu 3 Nov 2022 - Collected from sender VIC
11.10am Thu 3 Nov 2022 - Shipping information received from shipper VIC

    • Might be a Courier's Please problem, though they are usually pretty good in QLD.

I mean, the only other alternative is that the seller was too incompetent to copy/paste an address properly which seems like a stretch even for this dodgy bunch.

    • Did the delivery work out OK?

      • +1

Yeah they said they accidentally sent it via CP to my P. O. BOX so that was a fail on their part.

I gave them my postal address but mistyped my post code which is a fail on my part.

so Im still waiting, CP shows it's return to sender. I will say, communication was fast and clear.

        • Thanks for the update, let us know once you receive and if there are issues

          • @Look Up: Will do! Not too sad about the delay, waiting on GPU prices for black Friday.

            • +1

@Nalar: So it arrived and it's up and Running fine.

I guess I'll give them 2.5/5 for the experience. I stuffed up giving them wrong post code, but I wouldn't have had too if they didn't stuff up in the first place. While their responses were fairly quick, I had to reach out to prompt them to respond. Overall, if I didn't have Amazon to assure me, I wouldn't use these guys again.

Also, thanks for the deal post! All that's left is a GPU!
