@subboy: I really appreciate your in depth response. I think this comes down to us having different views on the responsibility of government and institutes with authority.
When I say the messaging has been poor, it has been from various governments and institutions. And you are right - the people making policy decisions like in the EU should have fully read the studies to make sure they understood what they were enforcing. I don't feel people who hadn't been properly educated (talking about the politicians here) should have been enforcing mandates when they haven't understood the literature.
I think we can all glean from this that is hard to get the full picture. Hence why I am saying don't shut down the conversation and turn off just because you have a gut instinct. Cheers :)
@RubyShoes: I believe the politicians (lets focus on Australia here) went off advice from health ministers, ATAGI, CHOs etc which in most instances was backed with science, however when it comes to politicians, while i have seen some good actions, i have seen bad ones, unfortunately and more so this year politics have been seen to ignore science because .. well votes. and unfortunately the education for most has been lacking when it comes to the virus and the vaccines, other than seen via some press conferences it makes sense that many don't understand when it comes to either topic. heck if i had not started getting off my butt and actually looked at the studies, data, reached out to virologists, immunologists, epidemiologists, physicians etc i most likely would not understand either.
and I can only assume the EU were aware of the studies and data (talking health officials) based on their initial response. my response was in regards to this sad selection of a commission not having done their research (or maybe they had and were trying to promote a false narrative) and in turn asking such questions regarding transmission.
and yeah conversation is important, i love the conversation, as it allows me to teach some things, and learn some things at the same time, and the most important factor of that reality is to do it with an open mind and without bias. so many (both sides) have closed off any chance of being educated or encouraged beyond the confirmation bias they seek, and that does not help in any way.
Just some background, I was hesitant at the beginning and believed much of the misinformation (not known as such to me at the time) getting around, from memory it was a video I saw regarding how the vaccine was able to be developed and tested in a short period compared to those in the past, that i started questioning things I had seen, and why i started reaching out and actually looking at the studies and data (with guidance).
When i stated to gain understanding of actual reality vs what random folks were saying, alongside politicians and msm i ended up finding myself challenging misinformation and disinformation from both sides, because i believe in informed choice along with freedom of choice and think that to be able to achieve both the most accurate information be out there.
And there have been some times (more so in the beginning) where I have been wrong, and learned from that, and love when i am proved wrong because it allows me to learn but at the same time correct my mistakes while having conversations with others.
I think honest and open conversations are important, which is why i have no problem spending a stupid amount of time (like now) giving at least some kind of detailed response, and more so with links etc because words are cheap, and if i make a claim, it would only be done if i can back it up.

My personal experience is 2 dead family members from COVID. I have had 4 "vaccinations" and have been infected 4 times in the last 6 months.
The vaccines clearly don't stop you catching it. Whether they make the disease less severe I don't know. I do know I was hospitalised once and also put on the anti-virals. The anti-virals really do make a difference if you get it.

I came to realize the other day that you are parroting narratives, I am sure you lapped up every part of the book/video without question, without verification purely because it served a confirmation bias, and I have pointed that out to you via my replies to another comment on this thread.
And that is why it is so easy for you to grab onto video clips like the one you posted here, that promote a narrative you believe gives you some kind of gotya moment, without the want or desire to deep dive into what was said when it was said the context that it was said in.
Why did biden and andrews use the words "stop"? i do not know, as it was not accurate as such, i can only speculate that with so much happening so fast, with the amount of information being absorbed by them that they either did not fully understand all that information being given by their health officers or mispoke .
However that is why (as i usually do) take what they say with a grain of salt, which is why I would await the CHO to speak up on the subject (if i ever watched it), and even then i would not trust what they said blindly and went and found studies and data etc to see if what they were saying was backed up or not, and there were some things said (mainly talking about our current CHO in QLD here) that i would not label as accurate at the time they were saying it, nor was it backed by good data. and i would certainly question them or point out where i thought they were wrong to them via their SM or email, however started seeing him being a bit politically driven in his stand so basically stopped listening to him on the topic.
hypocritically all this is done while not questioning anything kennedy jr has stated in the past, both in the world of conspiracy's and mis/disinformation promoted by him and his CHD baby when it comes to covid-19 and vaccine related topics. Of course the fact he and other grifters are capitalizing on the COVID-19 pandemic (while spreading mis/disinformation) does not even raise 1 hair on your eyebrow or get questioned right?
I mean the number of time his bs has been debunked (alongside that of the others I assume you blindly promote) means nothing, will never be questioned or mentioned again (unless someone was late to the echo chambers and were not aware of the latest narrative or meme being passed around).

@gto21: I believe what you are missing there is the timeline, more to the point that not only was there a novel virus from the beginning, but one that rapidly mutated.
You would have heard a recent quote getting around "the speed of science" that is the reality we saw, a novel virus attributed to many deaths, the isolated alpha strain, a vaccine designed our that strain followed by testing and clinical trials, meanwhile, while this was happening, in late October 2020 we saw our first main new variant of concern (Delta), so while some things were promoted around the alpha strain, they were not all applicable to the delta, and then again what was promoted then did not remain totally applicable to Omicron, and so on and so on with subvariants, and this will continue with future mutations in whatever direction it leads.
and you guessed (not knew) their next moves at best (if at all) but hey its easy to say those things after the fact and call them truth, so i will leave that one be.
