RRP $129.99. Previously sales have been for $109.99 $90.99

There have been similar chargers such as the Zyron 120W (3C+1A) for $78.99 - which is from an Australian company but for this wattage (120W), it doesn't have the ability to change plug adaptors or to plug in an extension, so I guess it depends what features are important to you.

Previous comments have advised when using the included Australian plug adaptor, the body of the charger is inverted so the ports are on the top when plugged in. It claims on the page to be SAA-Certified, but I don't see actual certificate. From previous comments on previous posts it appears to be an okay charger.

Includes:

  • GaN Charger (2xUSB-A + 2 USB-C ports)
  • AU Plug Adaptor
  • 1.5m extension cable
  • 100W PD USB-c cable

there’s cheaper methods of setting your house on fire than this

    • +8

I have 2 HEYMIX branded 65W GaN chargers from a recent Amazon sale and they work fine. House not on fire yet.

Unexplained fires are a matter for courts.

With more prominent brands coming up with cheaper GaN chargers of their own, I think it’s easier to find alternatives.

I'm not trusting a 120W charger that only costs $45 on Alibaba. https://www.alibaba.com/product-detail/In-Stock-US-EU-UK-Plu…

    An explosively bad deal

  • My Surface Book 2 needs a 100w type c charger, is this one a good choice?

    • +8

It’s an awesome choice if you want your Surface Book 2 to blow up one day

    • +4

Spending $2500 or so on a device, to try and save $20 on a known dodgy brand, seems high risk.

      • Good point , which brand you recommend? Thanks

        • +1

Anker is pretty much the best, unfortunately they haven't quite got their new products to Australia which is really annoying.

I'd be going for something like this.
          https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/729666

Zyrontech is a cheaper Australian brand (still Chinese rebrand) that at least offers 24mo warranty that doesn't have a concerning amount of horror stories. I'm still unsure of them myself.

A good, high quality gan charger is still not quite her yet as far as I can tell =(

        • +1

Consider a second first party unit depending on your use case. Otherwise - Anker, Satechi, Apple. I have a 165w Satechi. It works well for me though that doesn't say much. I would be more interested in overall review scores.

The Mophie above is likely a better purchase, though you'd need to research the brand/charger.

I would avoid the Belkin 108w based on user feedback(have a look at the deals for it if interested). I'd also steer clear of many of the common rebrands on Amazon.

  • +2

So for $20 (Instead of purchasing the 120W Zyron) I can get the option of adding a $10 accessory which includes multiple separate regional power adaptors? Why not just get an international adapter for the fraction of the price?

  • Insurance confimed?

  • +2

    AVOID this brand!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • +2

What's with all the neg votes. Is it because CHINA. Or there is actually an issue with this brand?

    • +7

Not sure how many of these people are jumping on the hate bandwagon. FWIW I have 2 Heymix GaN chargers and they've been flawless so far.

      • +2

It's great that your one is working.

The issue is more the type and frequency of failures reported in reviews and by Ozbargain users. You can compare this to reputable brands.

    • +2

Personally I had heymix stuff damage equipment. No fire, but I gave up using it.

    • Issue with the brand. Here's a collection of feedback from Ozbargain users - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/12674711/redir

And this challenge for any Heymix fans:

      The Heymix challenge

Find a charger from a reputable brand which has similar reviews in the same quantity as Heymix

      • -3

        … a neg for a neg

  • +5

Bizarre to see all the negs flying everywhere. I've got a couple of 20W Heymix adaptors which haven't ever misbehaved or burned anything down. Is there a genuine issue with this specific charger that anyone can share? That might be more helpful than generic rants…

    • +2

On this specific one not sure. It's more that the brand has a history of not caring about the quality and safety of what it puts out. Why bother risking it with this mob?

    • +3

Funny that, I ordered 20W Heymix chargers and they exploded when I plugged in my device. Refunded with Amazon and my device survived so no big deal there.

I can actually understand the negativity with the brand however I will add my positive experience with their higher wattage GaN chargers to balance out the negative experiences. Pretty sure each charger model would have different specs/reliability since they are probably all rebrands from an AliExpress OEM anyway.

  • +3

This is a bargain site, not a love or hate…
People are giving negative marks just because they hate the brand. Yes, express your thoughts but why negative.
I guess the people purchased the item or lower price is not bargain with an evidence can and should put negative.

    • +3

Plenty of reasons to down vote. Just look at any Heymix charger deal(including this one) with feedback from ozbargain users.

Downvotes are just a red flag which means more research is required. If you want to buy one, no one is stopping you.

  • I just had a Heymix (45w) charger do the magic smoke.
Good thing the house is protected by an RCD or it might be on fire.

    • It killed my Google tv :(
