Hi guys i have to build the block retaining wall only 400mm height, could anyone recommend me how ro setup a straight a string line to lay the first row of the blocks, its 10m length is there any tools coming so i can know it’s straight without laser line its so expensive to buy.

If you’ve got your blocks already, get a line of builders string (usually it’s fluro colour), wrap the string around one block at one end, so that the string is at the front of the block and it’s at the top (literally just wrap the string around the block), then run the string in the wheel to the other end of your run, and get another block and wrap the string around that block, so that the string is again on the top of the block and at the front of the block. Then either use a spirit level to check for level, or get a string level from Bunnings (it clips onto the string and shows level).
Now that you know whether or not you’re level, you can adjust the blocks to get level, and then the foundation, and start running your blocks along the length.
It’s a bit of a fiddle, but good fun. Take your time, and enjoy. If you get stuck, just have a gander at some YouTube vids as Hybroid as very helpfully listed above.

You can make your own water level, using a hose full of water, and two clear end. Here is a modified version using a bucket on one end. Use pegs, and mark a reference to the water level, tie string to mark or offset.

Pull string tight and it will be straight. The question puzzles me a bit.
I have a small spirit/bubble level that hangs on the string which I put in the middle of the span to check for level.

Err….you are capable of building a retaining wall but don't know how to make a piece of string straight between 2 points. Am I missing something?
Do you want straight or level? Straight is easy, pull it tight. Level is harder depending on wether you want it horizontal or to match something nearby.
