from what i can tell this is the cheapest 6950xt to date. No import duties and taxes in my check out page.
however this is via Amazon US so is it worth the risk for a grey market card and potential lack of warranty support.

I had the same doubt and called Amazon to confirm, rep confirmed $1079.34 and will refund me if over that amount.
Would buy but have had MSI cards in the past. Poor thermal paste. Literally have to remove the heatsink and reapply paste. Much better spending a bit more for a sapphire or asus. Which run up to 20c cooler.
Although looking at some reviews this isnt too bad. Not as good as the sapphire but power draw is much more
What are people's thoughts on the 12VHPWR connector on RX 7x00 and RTX 40x0 cards?
The 6900XT equivalent is also up for $907
Bought with 28 degrees price protection hope it applies to Amazon via US or may need to return within 30 days.
Back to 2141 :( wanted to see how this compared to the 7800 xt before committing… hopefully if the 7800xt is expensive, this will come down again.
Now the 7900 XTX and 7900 XT have been announced what do you guys think about this deal now? Is it still worth buying if it comes back in stock for $1079?
Ok so I've been wondering this as well.
So the 7900 xtx is going to be around 1600 (probably closer to 1.8k-1.9k with the Australian tax)
If we don't have to pay import tax and gst on this and it is infact 1080. The 7900 xtx is supposedly 1.7x faster than the 6950, so price seems to be about on par.
Now that's probably best case, it's probably going to be about 1.5 generally speaking. So raw power per $ probably similar (with the 6950 probably winning out once you remove the "marketing hype" and look at actual fps or benchmarks, in regards to $ per performance), but it does have addl features such as later hdmi/dp (2.1) versions (better ray tracing???) And some other updated tech.
If you can get the 6950 at around that 1k mark it will be a decent buy. I'd still prefer the 7900 xtx.
If you can wait for the 7800 xt it's probably going to be priced at the same ~1k, and will have similar specs with those later features, not released until next year though. Guess we will see.
That said the 6950 is going for 7900 xt prices at the moment so that's a clear avoid.
13th of December releases date so still a while to go.
.
Black Friday /cyber Monday could bring prices down again to this level…but with a couple of weeks before the new cards are released unless the 6950s are sub 1k its a no thanks for me.Personally, I'd rather pay the 1600 for the 7900 xtx rather than the 1k 6950. Though doubt we will see them (7900xtx) that cheap in au.
I figure I hardly ever look back and say, gee I wish I hadn't spent this few hundred extra on somthing that's going to last me 3-7 years.
Would love to see the 7900 xtx at 1600 and this 900 odd to be consider about equal taking into consideration the performance and feature differences ie due to lack of hdmi/dp 2.1 and everything else. (However, there will be three unknown until launch: availability of 7900 xtx, price as well as actual performance improvements, might be too late to grab a 6xxx series card at this time as they may have sold out or low enough stock they don't need to discount further.)
Cheers for the detailed breakdown, 1k is my limit for a gpu so this seemed to be the best deal I can get. The latest and greatest is a bit out of my reach, hence trying out an AMD card this time.
Just keep in mind the 7800 xt may be in your price range. Due for release next year (was hoping that it would be released with the 7900s)
Should be able the same or better performance with a bit more future proofing.
That said. I don't think there will be much in it.
Did anyone get theirs? People who ordered from the $909 6900 XT deal are reporting they're receiving boxes of pink face masks or opened and used GPUs
Yes I received mine a couple of weeks ago and the box and hardware arrived in good condition. It seems to work well with most games other than world war z for some reason . I tried to redeem games from the current AMD promotion but Amazon said it wasn't running in Australia and refused to give me a redemption code.
Yes got mine and works well, seems like a pretty good deal given the non Black Friday sales.
Ah we got a problem guys.
When I go into order details it says $1321.95 total.
Thinking I might cancel now.. Damn
