I got one of these over the Sony X90K for a similar price not long ago and it is such good value. It has better sound, thr picture gets brighter and the blooming control is better, it has a game bar and supports all HDR formats. I have owned an LG C1 but had to sell it unfortunately and this comes so close and it's hard to tell the difference at times since you dont have it side by side with and OLED.

    • How's the image motion jutter handling compared to LG C1?

      • I remeber needing to put on the motion smoothing on the lowest setting on the C1 but on this I have it disabled.

    • +1

Would you still say OLED is better?

      • Would you still say OLED is better?

OLED is better only if you don't have a bright room.

      • OLED is better in the right conditions but I couldn't afford the extra $1500 difference at the time of purchase and the performance is close. The TCL also gets brighter

    • I am wondering if it would be OK for sport as I'm looking to buy a replacement TV for my parents' Plasma that failed last week. This is the model I am looking at, but in the 55" version. From what I keep reading, everything in their price range sucks compared to Plasma for motion flow/handling.

  • Specs look great for the price.

  • This would make a great gaming TV right?

      144hz, Freesync, HDMI 2.1

Looks solid. It has 'Auto Low Latency Mode' but at a glance I didn't see the actual input latency listed.

Otherwise looks like a good gaming purchase!

    • I have the 65" of this model and it's great for PS5

    • This review covers it well.
      https://youtu.be/ORg5dkb_ggs

It isn't the best gaming screen, but may be the best at this price point. Fixed the big issue with the last gen.

      • What was the big issue last gen?

        • The MediaTek processor could not keep up at 4K 120Hz and as a result image quality suffered.

          • @Aureus: Ahh right, thanks. That sounds good then if they've fixed that.

JB same price with $200 gift card, TGG and HN also have gift card.

  • what model does this equate to in the states so I can get some reviews ?

  • I have the 65" TCL C835 and it has been great. The built in sound is actually pretty good and it's awesome for gaming with 120hz / VRR on PS5.

    HDTVTest Review

The 65 has 288 dimming zones.

  • Hmmm….Hold out for black Friday?

    • Hope JB will have extra 10% or TGG extra 15% off.

Have TCL C735 (2022 model) and it flickers intermittently on one of the screen corner when there is a change in the scene and this was after 1 month of use and TCL refuses to replace it under warranty. I rather go with a bigger brand like samsung or Sony.

    • +2

this was after 1 month of use and TCL refuses to replace it under warranty.

That is why I am worrying about buying TCL TV.

      • +1

It is pretty much a standard for those brands, they give you good spec on products with lower prices, but quality isn't consistent

    • They have an obligation to repair or replace under Australian Consumer Law.
Are TCL denying the issue exists? What have they said to you?

      • I contacted good guys and they referred me to TCL , who cant find any faults in the tv , although the issue comes after every 10-15 mins. I might use the ACL card as my issue has been escalated further with TCL and still under investigation

        • who cant find any faults in the tv

Take a video and show it to them.

        • If it's been escalated then that's progress at least.
It's probably unfair to say that "TCL refuses to replace it under warranty"

        • I thought under ACL the supplier needs to sort this out, and not fob you off to manufacturer.

  • 65 mini led for less than a 55 oled is tempting!

I think the 65" C825 sold by Bing Lee on eBay for $1195 - $120 discount is a better value if you can get it. By the way you can get the C835 from the good guys eBay store for the same price minus $120 discount. Not sure if you can still get the $70 store voucher.

    • I personally don't like the look of the soundbar at the bottom of the TV for the C825

    • Link?

      • Very old stock, must be in store.

  • Imo this ain't much of a deal

  • Stack with Master gift card from Coles!

  • +1

How's this for viewing and reflections in a bright sunlit room?

  • The 935 is the pick of the non OLED bunch. Sony has too much bloom. The 835 is also really good.

    • I can only find two online stores selling 935. Wondering why they are not sold in any of these major retailers.

    • Is the 935 a new model that hasn't been released properly yet? What is the pricing? Are major retailers going to get it?

  • So have I missed something here? I don't understand why the listing or tgg website mention this as a cashback.

The TCL website says if purchase is from HN / TGG / Joyce / Domayne then you will get a eGift voucher for that store. Purchases from other participating stores will get you a visa card.

Can't see why this is marked as cashback.

    • Wondering is that mean extra visa card if buy from JB or HN?

      https://www.tcl.com/au/en/big-screen-gift-card-offer.html

      https://tclpromotions.com.au/terms

JB not on the list of partifiparting retailers but it said "any other partifipating TCL retailers (in-store and online) throughout Australia.

      • No it's not an extra visa card. TGG show it as a cashback offer but when you click on the link they provide it takes you to the TCL page which clearly shows it as a gift card promotion.

I would say TGG have incorrectly marked it as a cashback promotion.

        • In that case buying from JB or HN is better because of their own gift card + TCL visa card.

          • @superforever: The JB gift card offer doesn't seem to be related to the TCL promotion, maybe they are just trying to match the offer.

The question will be will TCL accept a submission from JB. Unless you are after a TGG card and the store cash there is no harm in buying through JB and trying your luck on the TCL promotion.

            • @[Deactivated]: From the claiming site, place of purchase did allow to select "Other (please specifiy)"

May be they will accept JB purchase, HN included but no way HN's gift card.

              • +1

@superforever: Just called TCL and confirmed, any retailers are OK, just put others when submit the claim.

So for the 75" you can get $200 JB gift card + TCL $200 visa card.

  • I picked up the TCL 55" C835 Mini LED Google TV 2022 for the bedroom for $954.82 after discount/cash back/store credit. So far so good!

    • OCT10 promo, Ultimate Home gift card for 8% off. Then use shopback to get 3% on the Good Guys purchase plus store cash $70.

    • How did you get that price?

      • I linked to another comment which breaks down the savings. HTH!

  • Is there no 85" version of this model?

  • How much light bloom does this have compared to an OLED? Will it be noticeable in a dark room?

I was thinking OLED is the way to go, but the price is good on this and it would be nice to not have to worry about burn in…

    • +1

I do not have this TV and I am not an expert by any means, but my understanding is that OLED by the fact that it doesnt have a backlight at all, will have literally no bloom. While any LED TV will have at least SOME. However reviews I was watching on this model tend to say that the bloom is minimal. Hard to tell exactly on a computer monitor though, would have to go in store to find out specifically.

      • Thanks, maybe I’ll try to find one to look at in person

      • While any LED TV will have at least SOME.

I found that really depends on how sensity you are to bloom and your watching environment, with the LG some said they have no problem and some said have to return it because of bloom.

Even some said Sony X90J have bloom have to return it for X85J, I have no idea why.

  • How does this compare to the Costco 8k offer?

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/730579

    • +1

      [Opinion only]

I was considering both of these offers, personally, my argument (to myself) was that the 8k would really only be an upscale anyway, since no content I would watch ever would be native 8k. So my choice is this C835 because it is a newer generation and a "better" 4k picture.

At least thats the conclusion I came to just from online reviews, spec sheets etc so YMMV

    • C835. The 8K one has fewer dimming zones, and you will be reliant on software upscaling pretty much forever.

Purchased the 75"from JB over the weekend and submitted my claim to TCL. Looks like it's just the JB GC for me. Amazing TV though, very happy!

"Unfortunately your TCL Melbourne Cup Carnival 2022 claim has been deemed invalid as it does not comply with the Terms and Conditions of the promotion.

Reason: The purchase was not from a participating retailer, which means your claim does not comply with the terms and conditions of the promotion."

Ask them what is the other sellers for on the claim form?

  • +1

Did an online chat with JB Hi Fi. They stated they are not participating in the TCL Cashback offer. Hence offering the JB Hi Fi GC. Their offer also ends the same date at TCL's Cashback offer. 15/11/2022.

Just called TCL, they said OK just put "others" when submit the claim.

JB have no idea (also chat with them)

BTW any idea when JB may have extra discount soon? Like the last late night 10% off.

      • Oooh that's good news! Thanks for sharing.
So tempted by this now… $100JB GC and $100 visa from TCL (65").
I'm also wondering if JB will do another late night 10% off or wait til Black Friday sales.

      • This is the email response I received from TCL:
        "Hi,

JB Hi Fi is not an authorised retailer for this promotion.
Unfortunately, this would make you ineligible.

        Regards,

        TCL promotions."

        • Ask them they have other sellers on the claim form

  • I have x7 model 3years old and still good with fire stick 4k max(TV OS is old so I don't use it).
However, judder problem is not fixed yet and forever. TV never updated last 3years…

Motion clarity option is not able to turn off. And setup 0, however when you changed video source it turn on again even it still shows 0.
    https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=aF8g89vgono

I have no idea C835 model and judder bug is fixed.
Actually I want to buy c935 or x9 or x10 model but they are too expensive. And TGG and JB doesn't have… I stacked UH GC…
So I will buy C835 75" model when it goes under $2000.

    HODL!

You can currently buy a Samsung 65 in OLED with 200hz for under $1,500.

    • Mini LED not the same but TCL I am bit worry.

      • Isn't OLED better?

Sorry, no idea war mini led is.

        • Isn't OLED better?

I think you mean QLED, no way you can get 65" Samsung OLED for $1,500

    • What model are you referring to? I know you meant QLED, but was just wondering what model you are referring to?

Also wondering if the C835 has the judder bug as a poster above mentioned on his older model TCL.

      • It's a Samsung "The Serif". Petty impressed with it actually.

  • Any thoughts on the power rating it says 2.5 ???

  • just pulled the trigger for TCL C835 75 inch at TGG@Castle Hills with $2495 or $2295 (Latitube Pay) including delivery (plus TCL cash back and $70 store cash), expect to be delived tomorrow.

Was shopping around between JB, HN and TGG. JB only willing to discount extra A$25 and can't abosrt the delivery fee. HN can offer $2350 plus delivery but don't have any stock and have not idea when will have. Almost give up and went into TGG with surprice, they initally able waive the delivery, as i mentioned HN have 200 giftcard for 60 months interest free with Go Mastercard (Latitude Pay), they checked and confirm this is excludsive to HN but willing to match the offer for me. So i end up A$2295 w/ delivery on invoice, plus TCL cashback and A$70 stoer cash).

ps. i also notice there is extra cash back for TV purchase over 75 inch, but wonder how this work? Does this need to purchased with gold status?

I bought this TV a few months ago and it's fantastic. Can't beat it at that price IMO.

    Highly recommend.

    • Do you have any issue with reflections (if you have it near windows that is)?

  • +1

No i don't. It does reflect a bit but it's very bright and can comfortably watch during the day with a large adjacent window. Having said that i don't have any direct reflections onto it.

  • Would this or a 2022 65" Samsung The Frame be a better option? I know the price points aren't completely comparable, but the Samsung is only $300 more from JB which is still within my budget.

It'll going in a rumpus room that doesn't get a huge amount of sunlight, so brightness and glare isn't a huge problem, but I want something that will perform well for gaming and media consumption (the latter either via the Plex app or via a media PC).

    • Samsung The Frame is not mini LED, from spec mini LED is better but it is TCL not Samsung and The Frame have features normal TV didn't.

      • Thanks for your thoughts. The extra features of The Frame aren't really what attract me, and it seems overall the picture quality and UX are better on the TCL so it seems it's still the better option

        • TCL so it seems it's still the better option

From spec TCL is better if you don't worry about the brand, support and QC.

Good question, either way the 75" for $1925 post promos was too good to pass up for me so they hooked me.

If they have extra 10-15% late night discount will be super.

        • If it was $500 cash back rather than $200 e-gift card for tgg from TCL plus $300 cash from tgg I'd be interested. But the $200 e-gift card for tgg Is useless for me
