    • Thanks for providing the link.
I also found I had to switch to a US server via my VPN to complete the purchase.

  • Thank god it's got pictures.

Ladies and gentlemen, it is with pleasure I tell you that I DID NOT add this to my library which already has at least 20 ebooks on Excel! Took me a lot of courage to do that.

      Braver than me mate

    • Neither did I - for the same reason:)

    • What's Ur highest rated excel?

    • I did add it though… and I still haven't read a single page yet… getting to it soon'ish… 😅

  • +3

Unknown writer, 1x one star review. Seriously!

    • Definitely a must-buy!

  • Why rated one star???

    • Wasn't me.

I've done my Excel learning with four different very thick manuals. Basic, Advanced, Beginners VBA, Advanced VBA. Each needed to be worked through chapter-by-chapter, exercises completed then some thought put in how to use that knowledge in the situations I faced.

The reader probably had unrealistic expectations. Becoming good with Excel takes effort.

      • +3

Which manuals did you use, Roger?

You're asking me to recall history from 15-20 years ago, which will not comprehensively cover recent versions. In particular 365. Some of the authors moved on.

Excel Bible was one but don't take that as a recommendation. People learn in different ways. The best way is to browse a few to find something that suits you. That takes a while. An old fashioned bookshop with a lot of stock would help. You might see what your local library has and chase an updated version if you find something you like. Unless you have a great memory, you'll need a reference.

There are a lot of tutorials and references on the web but you need to learn the language Excel programmers speak before you can ask the question. Try youtube.
          https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=Excel+for+begin…
          https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=Excel+intermedi…
          https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=Excel+advanced
Note that things I would classify as tips may up in those searches.

The YouTube references would not do much for me. You can have a manual open next to your keyboard as you learn at your own pace.

      • cheers for resource

        whabbout powerquery?

I learnt last century and early this century. When at my peak, Powerquery either didn't exist or I took no notice. The things it does I created myself. There are plenty of resources available to learn.

A lot of those links are pack with incredibly useful information. One of my favourites was Debra Dalgleish's site, Contextures. The good news is her blog indicates she is still working.
David McRitchies page is organised like a Packapoo ticket but there are some good resources in it if you have he patience to work through. However, it probably hasn't changed since last century!
Chandoo has some good resources and a YouTube presence. He seems to be still working.

Maybe that person thought 1 star = #1 (like when you see a glowing review under a single star), since normally if someone gives a bad rating they usually accompany it with a rant.

  • YouTube is another good way to learn.

    • +1

Any channel you have used? I'm interested in learning scripting for Excel

      • I don't have any sorry. I just saw YouTube mentioned as a good way to learn on the HotUKDeals version of this offer and thought it was worth mentioning here too.

  • +1

Wow… 105 plusses for a 1 star review book. from an author that didn't publish a book before 2022.
But then it is Amazon i guess so that makes it better.
The Best source for information for Excel will always be the internet! Almost any question you clold ask has already been asked and answered before.

  • i wish amazon my order list page has a tab to separate books and others… i know we can search but it just got messy
