  • Price drop on the sage just in time for kindle scribe!

    • Is it better than scribe?

      • No one knows, since the scribe isn’t out… but the scribe is newer

Shipping for me was $23.10 for the Libra 2
    That's some expensive shipping.

Rate Kobo over the kindle after using both. Having overdrive is a game changer and has easily paid for my libra 2. Word of warning though is that the footprint of the libra 2 is quite large and I can't fit it in my pocket like 6" readers.

Also own both in our household, and also prefer the Kobo.
The warmer backlight over the Paperwhite is excellent, and being able to mount the device like a regular USB device for "legal" ebooks is also excellent.

      And Overdrive is honestly brilliant.

      • Cant you just import epubs to kindle by connecting to PC as well?

        • +1

          No.

You can use a program such as Calibre, however.

  • CompuCoast will offer free delivery on the Elipsa and Sage eReaders, and a maximum of $16.50 delivery on the Libra 2 and Clara 2E, to any location in Australia.

  • Love my kobo and hope it never breaks, don't want to risk buying a $600 e-reader?!

Kobo is fantastic. Overdrive eases so much is my reading. No need to buy books all the time. I firmly recommend.

My local libraries have very few ebooks available 😢 Eastern Regional Libraries in Melbourne.

Ah yes I get the same problem. I registered with 8 libraries and try to see which ones has my book. City of Melbourne library is good. But yes you got to wait to get the good books

        • Thanks for the tip. I signed up with City of Melbourne just now. Sadly none of the 3 books I searched for were available as ebooks.

If more library ebooks were available, I wouldn't hesitate to purchase a Kobo. You would expect the situation to have improved during covid.

          • @donm: Yes I get you. Might be best to get a kindle then. Can you get the books via kindle unlimited? I know that the choice is pretty limited there

            • @Raj09: I have a kindle, but haven't really bothered with Kindle Unlimited. I don't believe a lot of the major publishers are on there. I pick up an occasional Kindle Daily Deal. I slowly read ebooks on my phone mostly when an opportunity presents itself (lunch breaks, etc), but I stick to regular paper library books for the majority of my reading.

      • I was surprised to see such a difference in the local libraries City of Parramatta my local library only has foreign language books on Overdrive (which I can't read). City of Ryde has a much better English language collection but it's not immense. Does anyone know which library group in Sydney has the best collection?

  • With shipping it works out to be amazon’s regular price, at least for the libra 2

    Shipping kills the deals
