I have been looking (unsuccessfully) for a decent tripod deal the last few weeks and just noticed this week that Amazon has some good sales on Manfrotto and LowePro at the moment. This is the Befree Advanced tripod with a ball head for still photography. The price is not the absolute lowest, but a pretty decent discount compared to other stores. It goes for $349 at Digidirect.

          @first in line: Haven't tried the K&F tripods but recently bought their magnetic ND filters and am pretty pleased with them. This seems to extend to 2m.

      The model posted by OP looks like a pretty nice tripod. I purchased the element II and that has been pretty good travel tripod. The lighter compact will probably be fine unless you are trying to use in strong winds but then again sometimes any model can struggle. The befree looks like it extends to 1.5m if that is an issue.

          @first in line: Ah yes that’s pretty good. But I don’t think it is for video as you’ll need a different head to manoeuvre the camera.

  Anyone any thoughts about how it compares with the Sirui Traveler 7C? Very similar price on Amazon but comes with a better max height. Been eying on tripods for my DSLR.

    It looks pretty much like the befree advanced (mine arrived yesterday), but it has the twist locks on the legs rather than the lever locks. Lever seems to be preferred since it is quicker.

        Well, if quality is not the goal, you can get tripods for $19 at BigW. Will probably work ok for a smart phone, but I wouldn't use it for anything heavier. Definitely not an expensive mirrorless camera.

          @trippy: I guess it depends how heavy top end cameras are. The one I have is good quality but for that kind of price increase I would want to be able to attach a chair to it and take a rest lol
