Gasmate Patio Heater Charcoal $99 (RRP $229) @ Mitre 10

821

This heater seems pretty good price for an LPG outdoor unit. Apparently has “close to” 9 hours of use with a 9kg bottle.

Also smaller unit available - Gasmate Heater Area Charcoal - $119 (RRP $259) https://www.mitre10.com.au/gasmate-heater-area-charcoal-6717…

      But I love gas

      • I use my back-pocket to store my wallet. Everytime I fart it means I have gas money.

    • You cannot take propane and propane accessories away from me.

      • You can have a hearty amount of baked beans and refill it later.

  • is it compatible with my LPG ford falcon?

Wrong forum. FOG lives on Whirlpool.

Height 2 metres. You need to be standing up to get the best out of it.

Like my ceiling fan that you need to be on the ceiling for to get the best out of it

        Only heats the head.

Does that make you hot-headed or leave you cold-feet ?

  • Why smaller expensive

    • It’s not about the size. It’s about the performance. 🤭

This is an alternative for just a little bit more at $119

    • Good find! can i use it indoor, freezing here in Melbourne. all the electric ones are not satisfing!

    • Thanks. Ended up grabbing this smaller unit.

    • Thanks bought one. For next winter. lol. Half price - cant beat that.

  • Why does the description say propane and not LPG?

    • Same same

    • American and asian markets probably bigger, and they just copy-paste.

  • Hot Deal!

    Hank Hill is excited

    • I guess these are "propane accessories" that Hank kept yapping about

  • Thanks! Great deal! My patio gets really cold at night! Got the small unit, also much easier to transport.

  • Can you leave this outside in the rain (while it’s off obviously)?

    • +1

      Probably not ideal. It'll rust

      • Cheapisium will rust out of the box,
Probably a good idea to paint with a heat proof clear while it's still newish , or throw away now and save the trouble.

    These are crap

That poor bastard that left a 1 star review after buying for $249 haha

  • +1

Doesn't look like a good deal.

Consumption is 9 Hrs per 9Kg Propane, at today's prices its at least $6 per hour of heating.

I believe it'll be cheaper to use an electric radiant heater which should work out to be around 56cents an hour assuming the heater is rated at 2kW and electricity cost is 28c/kwh.

At that rate you can have 10 electric heaters running concurrently and it'll be cheaper!

Alternative for those too lazy to Google.

    • +3

      This is a 36 MJ/h (10kW) heater.

Hence you'll need to spend a lot more upfront for electric units (5 off 2kW) to match the heat output of the gas one.

    • I can just picture some dude running a massive octopus of power boards and extension cables daisychaining 10 electric heaters into a single powerpoint.

"Yeah the fuse kept blowing but I replaced it with a paperclip and she's been right ever since. They always go too wimpy with those fuses anyway".

  • Thanks Op got the small unit…

  • For those who have had both which is better? 2m one or the smaller one? Pros cons for each?

    • +1

Smaller. I've had both. Can sit and stand around, no chance to melt the roof if you have a pergola, won't burn the top of your head. Easier to move around.

    • The 2m one imo. Less chance of children touching it and would produce more heat

  • OOS

  • Its back in stock if anyone is still interested.

    • No , a waste of money unless your selling shots and meals at a bar , then allright , I hope the 'tips' r ok or they're dropping their wallets ..

    • Its gone up in price

  • Picked up my 2 units, bought some gas tanks. Except I gotta fill the base up with sand according to the instructions. Ukh. Trip to the beach? lol
