  • How's that compared to the dell one that's usually on sale for around same price?

    • Not into the details but 1st thing that comes up is the higher refresh rate (165hz) x 144hz on Dell, but Samsung is less curved

    • The Dell is straight up better.

Avoid this Samsung model entirely, it's got terrible VA ghosting.

Backwards again, the VA ghosting on the samsungs are the best in the business, read reviews.
I'm using the G75T at the moment and it's criiiisp.

However. Avoid the samsungs because there's all sorts of firmware issues, source selection, menu buttons that don't work unless you power the screen off, and reportedly GSYNC problems if you have HDMI and DP connected.

You cannot go wrong with the Dell if you can get it at this price , but you cannot. I tried. Dell said "sorry, ebay ran a 20% off del on top of our deal, this will not be happening again".

So for the price, just be aware samsung seem to have some serious firmware flaws across all G5 / G7 / G9

The G5 series is absolute junk compared to the G7. You cannot use one to infer performance about the other.

Please do not post this misinformed, unverified nonsense as fact. Here's an actual comparison: https://www.rtings.com/monitor/tools/compare/samsung-odyssey…

The Dell panel is a lot, lot more responsive. It's not even a contest.

Thanks for falling for basic marketing and segmentation tricks!

@jasswolf: Hmmm, read the gaming section of the rtings article you posted, it was the DELL that mentioned black smearing, not the samsung.

            i.e. :L:
The Samsung Odyssey G5 34 is great for gaming. It has a high 165Hz refresh rate with a quick response time that results in smooth motion with fast-moving content. It has low input lag, but there are a ton of bugs with the monitor that cause the input lag to increase and VRR to stop working. On the upside, it has an excellent native contrast ratio to display deep blacks, great for dark room gaming.
The Dell S3422DWG is a great gaming monitor. It has low input lag, a good response time at the max refresh rate, and a few great gaming features, including support for FreeSync. The large, ultrawide screen delivers a more immersive gaming experience, and it looks great in a dark room, with a good contrast ratio and excellent black uniformity. Unfortunately, G-SYNC doesn't work properly if your frame rate drops below 60fps, and there can be some black smearing in dark scenes.

Besides this, the cheapest for the Dell at the moment is $699, quite a bit more than $549?
I'd still probably recommend the dell, because of all the firmware bugs right across the samsung range.

I understand AOC and others like PRISM+ use samsung panels, so you can always try those.

I purchased this last time it was on sale for same price, about 1-2 months ago, it's a very good monitor and haven't had any issues.

  • 250 nits is a bit low as well isn't it?

    • I have this - not great in a bright room near windows in daylight. Otherwise super happy with it.

  • That curve, yikes.

  • How does this compare to say:

    https://www.dell.com/en-us/shop/dell-32-curved-gaming-monito…

Or the other Dell 34" widescreen?

They were the main 2 I was looking at.

  • Hmmm. Is this 100x100 VESA mount compatible? I went to the site and it did not talk about it but I’d though I’d ask the people in here.

    • Looks like 75x75
