Gigabyte RTX 3080 Gaming OC 10GB Graphics Card $1040 + Delivery ($0 SYD C&C) @ CCPU Computers

420

S-tier RTX 3080 card according to detailed round up by O!Technology, see here, rated by power limits, VRM capability, temperatures and noise, and cooler performance.

I assume this is revision 2 of the card which has a number of improvements including improved cooling… CCPU does not indicate this.

MSI RTX 3080 Ventus 3X OC 10GB also available at $1040, noting that this is rated C tier.

Even cheaper is OzBargain's favourite Galax RTX 3080 SG 10GB at $1000, rated at the third worst card overall.

    HODL!

Did you just post a deal and then say not to avail of that deal?

            • +6

@TsundereGuy: Yeah this dudes wife buying a gpu and gaming with it while he hodls in the corner.

    • +1

      lol

    • HODLOL

    • +2

You should do the opposite, why post when you going to say HODL, you're giving this greedy retailer the attention they don't deserve.

      The duality of Ozbargain-man

    • +1

      Paradox?

    • +3

What a power play OP. Very nice.

    • Lol you muppet

    • LOOOOOOOOOL

    • you won't see big price drops anytime soon. The 4090 is launching at $2900-$3500. Only idiots will by 40 series cards, everyone else is going to go back to 3080s and 3090s.

  • +4

OP posts a deal, and then tells us not to buy it. What should I do?

    • +4

He wants you to told off, so he can buy a few himself.

    • Playing both sides so he always comes out on top.

    • Obviously buy it, then return it. Duh.

  • Is HODLing for 3080 12GB at $800 dreaming?

    • +8

Not entirely. I mean… it'll eventually hit that price point, right? :P

      • +7

I think the question is by the end of the year.
I would wait for Black Friday, and whatever is on sale then, if you really want it, buy it.
Though, think about how much time will you have during holidays, and will u play/work that much till end of Jan anyway, so maybe Feb will have better prices.

        • +2

probably no by the end of the year. unless AMD sets price very low to push their sales and share price.

        • it would be $800 for 2nd hand one soon. need to specify if its brand new or not.

    • +1

Nope. Unless you need to "keep up with the trends" playing games a few years later is great.

      Cheap cards, and max stats.

      • A few years later?

Even my 970 handled Elden Ring at 1080p just fine. Sure the graphics weren't maxed, but it was certainly playable.

        • Exactly.

So the 3080 should be able to handle it maxed out, and hit his price point in a year or so.

Luckily most of the "trends" in gaming are social low-spec games, so you miss out on very little by waiting.

    • +1

Used 3080s are already that price (plenty of Buy It Now around $800, some auctions ending closer to $750, on eBay, with a few even better deals on FB marketplace etc).

An ex-mining card with some warranty left may be worth the $250 off new price for some.

But most importantly, this is a big change from usual: eBay used prices are usually crazy high, around the same price as the best OzBargain deals on brand new cards. So it looks like enough miners are finally dumping their cards to cause the long hoped-for GPU price crash - just in slow motion this time.

It may not be a drastic spiral below half-normal-price, like the last big crash, but it might be even better (more miners this time). So HOLDing for a month or two more is still the most sensible option while we see where this goes.

    • +1

It's not as ridiculous as it sounds.

    • +1

If you hodl long enough the 6080 will be 800 too…

    • +2

not dreaming at all, we're heading into BF season and amazon's 2nd prime day this year, they're desperate to clear inventory.

      • 4090 is launching at over $3k, they'll have no issue shifting 30 series inventory

        • +2

lol no, they'll just get desperate to clear twice the inventory. the demand doesn't magically double when the price doubles.

          • @xrailgun: It does if people thought the 4090 was gonna be $2k. They will just buy a 3080/3090 and wait for the 4090 to drop next year.

    • -1

depends on how long you want to sleep for. $800 12gb 3080 will probably be July next year.

    • Man I just want to see it < $1k including shipping

  • +11

How is this a deal? This is a 2 + year old card selling close to RRP with tons of stock at the retailers. Please stop posting these and please stop buying these atleast till AMD release thier cards.

    Apes together STRONG

What's up with the website? Looks like the most poorly made pop-up ad site from the 90s…

      Hosted on Geocities.

I kinda like it for nostalgia.

    HODL

This is $600 card at best at this stage of it's life.

Make Nvidia bleed like it's share price ytd -62%

    • +1

PhyX cards, and Machine Learning cards have never been that cheap.

Just because they're part of a "normal" gpu now doesnt mean you should forget what you're buying.

I agree its "too much" but not by 40%.

      25%? Maybe.

  • Ngreedya trying to flush out old stock at high prices. OP posts then says HODL so OP is shooting themselves in the foot because last gen will sell out and you pay higher prices for it, meaning this gen will remain at high prices also. It's in your best interests to keep last gen on shelves as long as possible.

  • +3

It's a good price but I want to wait to see the 40 come out to the market first

  • +3

Their website from the early 2000s? They're still calling AMD cards ATI lol.

It seems in CPU land, the worse the website the better the deal.

Waiting for the vision to go on sale for my white build

    • And that's exactly why it won't go on sale. For whatever reason, white cards are rare. I think Vision is the only Nvidia one, with the exception of Colorful's iGame variant. (Which still has noise.)

If you're not wedded to Nvidia, AMD has a spectral white variant of the Hellhound that fits.

      • Yeah.. I think I might need to just bite the bullet with what it's at now. The other option is the Zotac white trinity but don't love the look.

        • I just picked up a second hand 3070 Vision on eBay. After a touchup with compressed air and rubbing alcohol, it looks as good as new.

This second hand 3080 comes down to almost $1,020 with eBay Plus.

Personally though I’d go for something like this second hand 3070, which comes down to $570 with eBay Plus. (Which is a good $80 less than I paid for mine.)

        • If the shroud, and the backplate is "enough" for you; then plastidip is the solution.

Looks great, and can be peeled in case of warranty.

    • +1

can you just buy the card you want and then spray paint the fan white? lol

      • The shroud is doable, but spray painting fan blades isn’t advisable. The tale is it throws off the balance.

It also voids the warranty, and generally won’t look as good as a factory-produced one.

    • Thanks for the update.

      • My pleasure.

    • 3090 asus strix will also be on your radar I assume https://www.bpctech.com.au/catalog/product/view/id/36842/

    • I’m in the same boat as you. Thinking of biting the bullet at $1178 3080 delivered from Amazon.

  • +2

something something wait for under $1000 HODL something something under $1000 for 12GB 3080

  • Wait for AMD announcement, will personally end up getting AMD’s top dog card if they don’t price it to retard territory , coming from a rtx3080 this gen, Ngreedia can EAD

  • +1

899 at least then we talking

  • Out of stock, or their website so broken it doesn't show a buy button for me?

    • +1

Looks like the Gigabyte is out of stock - used to be a buy button there. The MSI and Galax varieties are still available.

    • They are always getting sold out. The real winners are the ones that bought the 3090 for $1400

  • Damn this old obsolete power hungry card was $1130 in Nov 2020!! This is why you don't pay for "prestige". FPS per dollar or get burned

For perspective The 6600xt is 41% slower than the old 3080. The 3080 is now a whopping 72% slower than the 4090.

3080 is now middle of the table raster wise.
