Is this safe to use as a squat rack? Looks a bit unbalanced.

    • Looks perfect to me. Room for a huge TV, minimal functional parts to clutter your view of said TV and a nice little shaker bottle rest to the side

  • $100 with a monitor stand looks like a good deal but then you HAVE to fork out for a new monitor.

That chair with the gear stick in the middle of it looks a little uncomfortable.

      Chair for chicks ;)

    • +1

Some people would pay for that kind of comfort

Of all the game splash screens they could've chosen for a racing sim setup, they went with Rocket League.

  • Same, I was thinking that seat looks uncomfortable… then realised its a gear lever holder!

So anyone know if this thing is any good/ worth it?

What would you pay for a second hand wheel/ lever/ pedals?

What sort of chair/ seat would you use?

  • +3

impulse bought it, if anyone else plans to, remember it does not include the chair

  • How to add on a chair with this rig? Anyone done it before??

I can only imagine how much those bits would flex or wobble, but honestly for the price it seems good.

Pre-warning, sim racing can be a really expensive slippery slope if you get into it. Source: me

  • Is this good for fisting?

  • Couldn't see this in the description but does anyone know what size monitor works well with this and/or the largest size monitor this takes?

This looks like tomorrow's living room clothes horse or hard rubbish collection.

  • Pic 4 = Sim racing rig in the middle of a loungeroom, next to a bird cage, empty picture frames on the ground, dirty carpet and a rocket league screenshot with no PC, cables or power to be seen - not sure if this is just weird or perfectly representing their target market :-)

    • And Pic 8 shows a racing seat "free-standing" on the floor. It appears there is no way to fix the seat to the frame, so the seat would just move around. Plus, if you actually used a racing seat with this setup, the steering wheel and monitor would be too high.

    • That's because the owner's wife/girlfriend moved out the moment it got delivered.

  • Just under $140 on ebay

  • My first racing Sim set up looked similar. If you look at all the adjusting points (parts where the circular wind up screws are) this rig would have a bit of adjustment flexibility. That often comes at the cost of 'rigidity' as those bolts barely keep the points from moving. As soon as you put force on that area, by turning a wheel, pressing a pedal or using a gear shift, it will slide out of position.

I fixed my cheap first rig by marking the slots where I needed things and then getting a mate with a welder to weld the surfaces in place.

Meant I no longer had the ability to break down the rig, but without the seat it was fairly mobile.

WAY better for racing after that.

YMMV, just producing experience with a cheap set up like this.
