Came just to post this… Much cheaper than the regular purple ink gin because its so much weaker
Most sloe gins will be. If you take 40% gin and soak the sloe in it there will be dilution- most will be 25-30%, there are some up to 40% but it's not the most common. I love the taste of sloe gin, Monkey 47 has been my favourite so far.
Very interesting. Didn't know how it was made but that makes sense!
Not sure why they don't take higher abv gin and steep it to get a final product with the same high abv as the gin we drink but there must be some reason.
@Chocobros: I did a tiny bit of research a little bit ago because I had no idea what sloe was - I now have a bottle on my bar cart.
First para is interesting: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sloe_gin
Essentially it's just the recipe and is different to how other gins are made with their different ingredients. I like fruity drinks, and it's not cordial but it's a sweeter gin- no surprise with the fruit. Worth a go at a bar if you see it.
Shame it is on the weaker side at 26%
