Not sure if the store is reliable.

i know this isn't the most detailed testimony ever, but they're legit. bought from them before with no issues and fast enough postage.

    • -2

      LMC are legit yep.

Its Rosman Computers OzB folks have to look out for.

  • +4

LMC are good. a lot of business hardware.

  • +2

LMC have been around since the mid 90s in Melbourne. First store was in box hill

  • +13

Not a website from the 90's, no buy.

  • Guys, suggestion, please. I was looking to buy a new card for a decent PC (AMD 9 5900X / 32Gb). The mark is around $600. 1080p, three monitors, primarily for work, some gaming included. Should I go for (Centrecom) Asrock 6700XT or this 3060TI? I had read comparisons, youtube videos etc. I still can't decide. Community mind to help? :)

    • -7

I'd go for this rather than the 6700XT, because Nvidia have more stable drivers.

      • +5

Like I've said in many replies I had 0 issues with my 5600xt drivers and many many issues with my Nvidia 3060 drivers… Ymmv if you ask me when it comes to either parties drivers.

In saying that if you want dlss or rt/and productivity (not that I'd recommend rt on this level card) then Nvidia otherwise if you see a 6800 for 600 then that's a better buy, 6700xt is closer to 3070 so it's also a good option.

        • Depends what you're trying to do with it.
For mainstream AAA games you'll be fine with AMD.

    • +2

At the least this will resell for more. +dlss and raytracing. If the performance and price is the same the added bells and whistles would push me towards NVIDIA. I usually only pick AMD on a price/performance basis, but NVIDIA is better again if you're into emulation.

      • I am also looking for GPU for 4K 60Hz gaming, I was thinking 3070, 6800 or 6800xt. I read quite a few reviews, is raytracing worth it at this range? I thought even 3080 won’t get 60 fps with 4K and raytracing on.

        • 3070 ram is too low for 4k. I would just wait a month to see what new cards are like

    • +1

I support AMD as they are the underdogs and usually have good value but unfortunately NVidia has much better drivers, has RT and DLSS and Cuda cores if you need it for ML and stuff liek that.

    • +1

6700xt unless you do something that requires CUDA. If you're not sure then you probably don't need it.

  • +6

Wouldn't you just get a used 3070 from a miner for circa $550? Just make sure it's in good nick with receipt, most will still have at least a year left on warranty. I just did this, very happy.

    • From Ebay or what?

      • +1

There are loads just under $600 on eBay right now, but eBay has a lot of fees.

Personally I might still go new 3060 Ti over used 3070. But I'm holding because used prices are still falling steadily.

      • +1

Ebay or gumtree. Got mine off gumtree.

    • +2

Yeah exactly… Was seeing many rtx 3080s on ebay for about 700-800 with 3 mo warranty

    • https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/144753225140 thoughts on this? $464, considering it (dont mind if anyone else here sees it and grabs it, feel free to) but it's so cheap i am wondering if it's legit
already have a 6700xt but might return it due to some minor issues, looking for a card in the meantime

      alternatively i saw a $600 3070 but that seems overkill for 1080p

      • Says 499, with a voucher I have comes down to $475. I wouldn't say it's cheap, thats about right. For a bit more (520-560) you could have a 3070. But if that's what you're after i say go for it. Ask if seller has box and can share a copy of invoice.

        • for some reason the voucher gives me $464 (i ain't complaining)
never bought used parts online before (always in person) so was just curious, thanks
(edit: i see quite a few 6700XT's for $450 or even less, might check those out instead)

  • How is the new intel arc gpus going to perform compared to this

    • +5

Intel claimed similar performance, some games vary, but like 20% lower USD price compared to the 3060's, allegedly.

It might have been the plain 3060 though and not the ti version.

      • how much do you think it'll cost in Australia

        • +1

Intel Arc A770 limited edition is $349 USD. So by the time you add GST I would say one would run you about $600 AUD

      • +1

While the price to performance may be competitive, I worry about the drivers, if they are just poorly optimised because they're brand spanking new products, the power won't be used effectively.

        • Intel GPU drivers are typically god awful, so…

      • Comparison was against the EVGA RTX 3060 XC I believe. So a pretty entry level 3060

    • I would get an rx6600 or xt if i wanted best value. Intel almost certainly going to be buggy

  • +1

Opinions purchasing a second hand gpu on eBay vs new? Also any general recommendations for cards priced around $400?

    • New is always better but many 30x0 series cards are still under warranty, and because of ebay feedback good sellers will give you a refund within that initial feedback period (90 days?)

So you wouldn't want to pay too much extra for new.

RTX 3060 and RX 6700 xt are both around $450 on eBay right now. Might well be $400 in a week or two, depending on how many more cards are dumped by miners this month.

6700 xt has more raw power, with better FPS at 1080p, but 3060 has a few advantages too (raytracing, DLSS, CUDA cores, supposedly better drivers).

    • I would go for a secondhand RX6600 at around $225-$250 or RX6600xt for $270-$300 on eBay or Marketplace/Gumtree. Plenty available and most of the depreciation has happened with these cards. Yeah they might drop another 20% in the couple of months but that's like $50…peanuts.

  • I am looking for GPU 4K 60Hz gaming, I was thinking 3070, 6800 or 6800xt. I read quite a few reviews, is raytracing worth it at this range? I thought even 3080 won’t get 60 fps with 4K and raytracing on.

    • +4

I've tried RT and I can't say I notice it enough to care, 6800XT will give u the best chance for 4k gaming.. 6800 and 3070 fairly on par and can hit 60fps on 4k but I'd be wary of 3070 for future with its 8gb vram as it may not age as well.

(Main rig I have has a 3060 so I'm impartial but price to performance minus RT n DLSS, AMD is ahead). Also keep an eye on ebay listings for a decent 2nd hand one if your ok with 2nd hand cards. There's some decent drops in price there too.

      • Thanks for your opinions, will wait for 3070 or 6800 special. Will also check used one as well.

    • +2

3060 Ti can handle 4K 60fps in most games if you turn down some settings and that includes RTX off, although DLSS can help you a lot. With RTX on at 4K you're going to want a 3080 or above.

  • +10

    Yeah nah.

    See you at $399

    • +11

you are associated, so lower the price pls :D

      • +1

        I’m not lol
        How do I un-Associate?

        • +7

          Stop working there 😝

  • +3

if your target is 3060, might be worth waiting for intel arc as its said to top 3060 and comes at a lower price.

    • …might be worth waiting for intel arc…

Intel's discrete graphics efforts have already been determined to be a disaster, so we'll be waiting far longer for Intel to release anything worthwhile to really compete with the Big Two. It's not an easy thing to do.

      • +1

Intel's discrete graphics efforts have already been determined to be a disaster

How so? From what i've seen so far they are decent and offers good performance for the $ they're priced at. For the people shopping at 3060 or below range, this is really good. If anything, it's good to have a 3rd player in the market for mid range.

    • +1

Just be careful. My 6600xt should really be a prototype because of driver issues. I haven't had gaming problems like this since the late 90's. Shader cache stutter, hitching and dx11 issues.

I'd personally be too scared to try intel I'd imagine their drivers would be worse. My Unreal 4 games even crash at launch and just look at all the issues people are having with AMD and fortnite. It is like the 90's all over again. RX 5000/6000 is the windows ME of gpu's.

If you want reliable gaming all round without being ripped off by nivida I'd just buy a GTX 1080 for sub $200 and ditch all the gimmicks like 4k/raytracing and cyberpunk and wait for pc gaming to improve. Pascall even does freesync it's can easily handle comp gaming.3060 itself is barely faster and should really be a $300 card.

Nothing wrong with 3060/3060ti except the price

  • +1

Almost 200% more expensive than my 6600xt but nowhere near 200% faster

    • Jimmy, everyone knows you love your 6600xt but you need to stop.

      • I don't love my 6600xt I'm just putting these other deals into perspective! My 6600xt was $350. Similar price to GTX 1060 in 2016. GTX 560, 760, 960 etc were not $599! So I implore perspective!

        This 3060ti $599. It's a $9 lettuce. Should be $400 absolute max. Probably less because asrock/eagle/ventus

Like honestly wtf is with all the upvotes. When I jump on this gpu page and see those upvotes on a $600 x60 card I think I'm experiencing psychosis. Jimmy implores more perspective from you all

        • Your opinion can be sum up like this: Because I get the best gpu deal so any "worse" price deal should be ignore and downvote.

No sir, this is OzBargain not OzCheapestBargain. Because there was a better deal in the past doesn't mean the current deal is shit. We are not Guinness record association, we don't need the latest deal to always be the cheapest price or beating previous deal. People upvote this deal because they think it's a good deal CURRENTLY. Not everyone following deals everyday, nitpick the cheapest deal possible. Some people just surfing through and look at the deal here, have a look on the current market and realize "Oh this is the best price for a 3060 ti I can get for NOW". That's just a typical reason why one can upvote this.

And tbh, this is a Nvidia card and yours is AMD. You can argue all day about Nvidia tax, or how AMD entry card is better price/performance than nvdia surely. But there is something call "taste", like how people arguing Apple or Samsung phone is better, Pepsi or Coca Cola is a better coke, or any products with more than one prominent brand in the market. For you, this card isn't worth 200% the price because the performance isn't 200% more. But for some people "Nvidia" over "AMD" in the name is already worth the price difference?. Is that a "correct" opinion. Probably, or probably not. But who are we to judge that, people buy what they want, not for us.

On the other hand, I'm not against you to comment about how bad/good a deal is. Newcomers to this forum need to know which is a good deal, and which is a "not so good" deal. But I can see nearly all your comment refers to your 6600xt like is a gold standard of how a deal should be. For the love of god, that 350$ 6600xt deal is probably the cheapest p/p gpu deal in this forum since the outbreaks started, if we only account to pure fps standpoint. If we only consider a deal as good as that one to deserve an upvote, then probably all gpu deals come after that should all be downvoted by that logic.

If a person don't like this deal because they think a counterpart AMD card can do better with cheaper price, that's fine. Or if they said that "HODL, price will drop soon", ok that sounds logic too. But when you said "Because I get the best gpu deal ever during covid time, so this one sucks compare to it, don't get it", it sounds really funny. Not everyone is lucky to buy a cheapest p/p deal from this forum. They can be satisfied with a more expensive deal, because it's CURRENTLY AND AVAILABLE. It's weird to experience psychosis because people are happy with the best deal they can get right now hey?

          • @Masticccc: I wouldn't have bought any GPU if that deal didn't come up.. I waited vigilantly for a year with a GTX 970 and would still have that 970 if not for the $350 deal.

So your summary of my argument is complete crap. A copy pasta for you

"I don't love my 6600xt I'm just putting these other deals into perspective! My 6600xt was $350. Similar price to GTX 1060 in 2016. GTX 560, 760, 960 etc were not $599! So I implore perspective!"

You should definitely ignore any "worse" price and downvote. A x60 should be $350 like the last 8 years not $600 lol. How much more perspective needs to be implored here.

            • +1

@Jimmy77: Do we live in 2016? Do we live the era where a x60 card can be priced the same as 1060, 960, 760, 560 blah blah? The only thing make me write a whole essay for you is because u ask for "more perspective from you all".

TLDR for you: Your opinion: this xxx card is so expensive compare to similar cards over the years so I dislike it. The people who upvote: This card is the CHEAPEST 3060ti THAT IS AVAILABLE RIGHT NOW, so I like it.

There are many reason to like as well as not to like a deal. What's so hard for you to accept that there are many people out there have different thinking from you? This is a deal, not a math answer lol.

  • +1

I would not be buying this, no way.
