Pretty safe to assume it provides neither of these :)

    • +6

More likely the speed of a mountain bike with shock absorption of a racing bike 😅

Bought, entering the Tour de France now.

    • you should have to buy 10

  • 14.8kg now, which is getting closer to reality. It was 10.5kg when I commented on it earlier.

    • +2

      Usual cut & paste error.
They have a alloy-frame bike for $20 more that is only 11kg.

But 15kg for a bike is not terrible. Was normal for our parents. An extra 4kg riding up a hill for an 80kg rider is not much difference.
OTOH, if you have to carry it up stairs at the train station, you'll sure notice.

    • 14.8kg now, which is getting closer to reality. It was 10.5kg when I commented on it earlier.

Weighed down by unrealistic expectations of being capable of anything.

Don't buy this, it will turn you off cycling.

    • +8

Perfect bike for me then - already turned off!

    • +5

Anyone already regularly cycling won’t buy this anyway.
Anyone wanting to get a bike for the odd short ride and maybe to try commuting to work would be fine on this.
But if they want to get into cycling they should already know to buy a better bike

This can be good advice, or utter snobbery.
It totally depends what the buyer wants from the bike. Touring Italy, or a 3km ride to school/station ?

The entry-level Shimano components do the job they are designed for.

      • and if someone is leaving it at school/uni/station, thieves are less likely to go after the kogan bike.

        • Even that needs a D-lock these days. When I was at uni, I rode an old 1-speed bike so I did not need to lock it at all, ever.

What if you want to cycle for exercise? Surely the worst bike would be the best bike for burning calories?

Is kogan cs support always so… you know…crappy?

I bought 2 items from them and the official item names are different from what was advertised on Kogan's website (the item page). They left out some important words which made the product seem like a different product. Misleading. They aren't allowing me to return it for refunds. I think i may need to contact ACCC

Is kogan cs support always so… you know…crappy?

      Short answer - yes.

Slightly longer answer - always have been. It's part of their business model. I recommend going straight to your State or Territory fair trading if you are having problems.

Appreciate the info, I'll look into it

  • Given a basic pair of tyres is around $80 / $100 I can't imagine how safe this bike would be. These things should have some sort of Aust standard applied to them rather than the Kogans of this world shipping junk in from China and off loading it which such promises of "a lightweight design capable of reaching speed with minimal exertion"

I wouldn't risk going at any speed on one of these.

    • a lightweight design capable of reaching speed with minimal exertion if going down hill.

Not sure how many of people here bought and used this, then said many bad comments. I actually bought this a year ago and I'm still very happy with it. Riding this bike every day and no issues until now.
