This is a good set of speakers with great sound quality!
If you want to use them portably, a few rechargeable batteries are great, but if you just want to set them up in your house, you can just plug them into the wall using the cord provided.
They are rated 4/5 on Amazon and this is by people who are paying ~$350 for the speakers!

I suspect this is being heavily discount because Apple will be using smaller connector for next generation iPhone (and therefore including iPod Touch, and iPod too), and this speaker dock will become obsolete.
