NBA League Pass for Australia 1-Year: $154.99 Standard, $209.99 Premium

So everyone into NBA probably knows you can get league pass for around half this price with a VPN. I used Brazil last season for around $100AUD for premium (which lets you watch on 2 devices at same time plus get a full play by play replay of each game that condenses down to about 30 mins).

But for those that don't want to use a VPN to signup for whatever reason, the league pass pricing in Australia has significantly reduced (off memory used to be like $400+). At this price, I'd have no issues paying Aus pricing if for whatever reason the VPN method stopped working.

UPDATE: those using VPN last season (myself included) I'm unsure if it will work upcoming season with the new apps. When I sign in it doesn't recognise my subscription (on android phone and amazone fire tv). However not sure if that's just because my subscription hasn't renewed yet or what. Don't think I've had that issue prior years though before season started

        • So, I can access my account on NBA.com using a desktop and I can see in my account next renew is October 18th, 2022 even though I have received an email stating it would renew tomorrow stating

          "Your League Pass subscription for access to the 2022-2023 season will renew on September 29, 2022 without you doing anything. On that date, you will be charged ARS 2,879.99 using the billing information you have on file."

          On my account at NBA.com it says my plan is renewing on October 18th, 2022 for $8,7601 ARS

          Now if I click on League Pass on the desktop site, it is trying to sell me the AUD subscription.

          This is all such a mess and confusing. Will wait and see what happens tomorrow

            @czechboi: I think what happens is - if you cancel your sub and don't renew, you still have access to Oct 18.
            But otherwise they take money for the next season on Sept 29.

    edit: Actually looks like the "All Possessions" recap is on standard now. Premium just gives you an extra login.

        I've just tried that "MIA v PHI G2" stream which people are using to verify their subs.

        Works fine for me, both via browser and the updated NBA App on my android device. This is on active South African sub from last year, set to renew next month. The app doesn't recognize my sub when logging in but all the content streams fine.

            • @czechboi: The app is really different. Play the condensed game, then you should have a stream switcher option, with all possession, other team commentary etc..

    I notice on Android TV and Firetv nba apps, it always presents pricing in USD which is a bit odd.

  • Tried the NBA app on my Hisense A7g55. Turkish sub from April ozbargain post, scheduled to renew tmr as per email.
    All working fine, can access NBA live on the TV.

      Yeah. Old accounts not having issues I think.
      The way they authenticate new accounts has changed. I can see it in the debug log from the NBA addon in Kodi.

      • Tried today using both Argentina and Turkey via VPN and at the credit card processing phase it said the card could not be charged. I tried Turkey using my Turkish Wise credit card and still no success

        • How is your Wise card specifically Turkish? I have a Wise card, but don't know what mine is.

  • Just got an email this morning from League Pass saying my account had been cancelled. This is after I spoke to live chat yesterday telling them not to. This is an absolute mess with different pricing on my account and support doesn't seem to know what they are doing

        I jumped the gun yesterday and sent a ticket to have them cancel because I was concerned about all the issues that have been floating around about not being able to access it. My own fault. Now trying to get them to reinstate it hopefully for the same price

    Was speaking to two different agents after receiving two emails stating my sub was cancelled. First agent said subscription was cancelled and would end October 18th and they cannot put me back on auto renew and I need to sign up again. Second agent assured me my auto renew was still active and so was my subscription. I guess I will have to wait and see what happens on October 18th.

        Another update, despite all the confusion and misinformation, overnight I have been charged ARS 2,879.99 on my Citi Bank card (around AUD $31)

        I opened the NBA app and went to subscrioptions and am now getting an error that says "Failed to load subscription, please try again later"

        I checked on the desktop version of NBA and I can see my subscription has now changed from an end date of October 18th, 2022 to October 17th, 2023 and that my cost is ARS 8,760.01/yr

        Seems there are still a lot of bugs with these new systems and support did confirm that the price on NBA desktop site is a known bug.

        For all intense and purposes it appears I have renewed for another year for about $30

    Checking the NBA website under my account and billing there is now a message "There was an error processing your payment. Please update your payment method."
    But next bill date says October 18, 2022 ?

    Cannot see anywhere where I can change payment method as per the error or add a credit card etc?

    Under manage plan, all I can do is cancel.

    How have people handled that one? Email support?

    • They make you resign and now cc with vpn don't go through

    • I am pretty sure when I asked, they said I could still use Paypal as my payment method as I'd already signed up with it via SA a couple of years ago.

          "Updating payment methods is currently a known issue, which we expect to resolve as soon as possible. Our product team is working diligently to get this feature up and running so you can update your billing information."

  • Does the Indian league pass still not work properly with most VPN's? I cancelled my subscription last year because the service didn't work at all on any VPN I tried but I just checked my bank account and the bastards just charged me $20 for another year even though I cancelled last year.

    • It works with Windscribe for me. Though this year if it's already charged you then you should just be able to log straight in without vpn turned on.

      Let me know how it goes! I'm having the worst time getting them to fix my Indian sub. Ah well.

        So, if i enable it will it affect my sub? (SA set to renew 26th oct.) Or will it allow me to watch games ?

        Havent checked chromecast or on my laptop as of yet. Bloody app has so many bugs and glitches

        • You have to enable location and it won't impact your sub.

    I have the same issue that you cannot update the payment method. I've contacted NBA live chat and both times they have said "you will need to cancel your subscription and purchase a new subscription using a different payment method"

    • I have contacted NBA chat as well this morning and same thing they said to me. Cancel and start a new. If anyone successfully updated the billing details or started a new one using other countries,please advise us what to do.

        • well im trying to re-purchase through turkey, brazil & argentina and my card doesnt work on any! Then maxed out my attempts after a few tries. I even created a new email to purchase and that was maxed out after first attempt. Shitshow

  • I changed my payment about a month ago via Turkey, sub was auto-renewed a few days ago. I thought my sub was geoblocked because I was getting the geoblock message in iOS app, I tried watching via Turkey VPN with PIA which also didn't work. Turned off the VPN altogether and it now works perfectly for me.

  • I managed to update my card details (subscribed via Argentina) and apparently they will debut tomorrow… will let you know if it goes through.

    In the meantime I can access all the preseason games fine…

  • I received a payment failure email on my renewal last week but this morning I've just received payment confirmation with $65 taken from my 28 Degrees CC (South Africa VPN) NBA account says active and next billing date Oct 18, 2023.

  • I've had a similar issue where I couldn't renew my NBA league pass (via paypal) and I couldn't edit my billing method. Finally got into contact with customer support who has said they will be cancelling my auto-renewal and to subscribe again. Not sure if the VPN trick will work again. They also said updating payment methods is currently a known issue, which we expect to resolve as soon as possible.

    • i have no payment details on my account, when i try to sign up via vpn it fails when using my CC's so unless you had the CC on record already it seems they wont allow you to sign up with CC's outside the country you sign up from.

    signed up previously via Hola VPN as if i was in Argentina. was able to watch without any VPN required (horrah)
    got my auto renewal this year. $30AUD! and was cheering
    logged in on laptop, google TV NBA app and android NBA app but all say i have NO SUBSCRIPTION :(
    BUT when logged in on an iphone my subscription appears and i can cast to my TV (have watched 20mins successfully)

    Has anyone that signed up previously via VPN from another region successfully watched League Pass on a non iOS device? did you have to use a VPN to mock your sign up location?

    • Yes, I have watched on both my android phone and google TV even though subscription details do not load. I was told by support that the details you see on the desktop version of league pass are the accurate for the subscription but the pricing is incorrect.
