The gadgets opening kit would be a more accurate description.

  • Hmm, a few of these or the LTT screwdriver…

    • A few? You mean more like 10 of these? (If not more lol)

    • This, by far and away. And a few of them in case 1 breaks

  • +5

Budget ifixit kit. Actually looks really good!

    • +9

Have to smile at the example pics of things to fix…….A bike (yeah right) , a powerboard (wtf, lets play with that), 2 different Macs…..
Some ok things in it but assume one has to add shipping unless a member?

      • +11

Yeah shipping is free with Kogan First

John A gave it a three star review:

Handy kit , but have not had a reason to use it.

I guess he hasn’t got a broken powerboard, bike or a mac

      • Free 14 day trial for Kogan first.
I used that recently and can’t justify the $8 shipping for this deal.

I’ve got a smaller actual ifixit kit (work expense) and the spud gets and guitar picks are great for opening small electronics like laptops and the like.

        • +1

Yeah, the screwdriver extension and picky thingies are all I need as already have lots of screwdriver sets. Now if only they had a decent set of those as not worth paying $9.99 I don't thing just to grab those out.

        • Sign up to the trial again ;)

          • @Clear:

You will earn $0.20 Rewards Credit on this order thanks to kogan FIRST
            Delivery $12.99

wtf with kogan FIRST free shipping??

            • @flywire: Listing says free shipping with First so idk.

        • Could I make a business out if this, by buying on your behalf. Nope fees and shipping would be a killer, but an intriguing challenge to mull over.

      • Power board actually makes sense. It's a UK board and most plugs of theirs have a fuse in it that blows so yeah, I'm that guy.

    RRP 70…..

    • +7

      HODL!

  • Is this actually any good? I've always wanted to get the iFixit kit but it's so expensive…

    • +6

iFixit's kit will be a lot better than this. These cheap sets are usually made of cheap quality metals and degrade very quickly in comparison to iFixit and other branded kits.

      • I second that. went through a number of cheap sets and ended up getting a good quality set of bits from Bunnings (was in a rush) because T5 and T6 lasted literally 5 screws each

    • +4

it's probably better than what you expect, more than serviceable for DIY small electronics building/fixing maybe once a month.

    • +2

My driver and bit kit looks almost identical to the one at the centre of this kit. Was sold under the Jackly brand when I bought it a few years ago.

No complaints about it really, has all the bits I've needed, and haven't had issues with bits breaking or wearing out. I've used it for most of my electronic opening/repair/reasssembly.

The Xiaomi Mi Precision screwdriver set i bought more recently definitely has better quality bits in terms of fitment to screws.

    • Just need to open a PS4 and the bit I need is $5 on eBay. This for less than double and a lot more pieces finally spurred me to fix the eject button, so I can sell it.

  • +2

Shipping is the same price as the kit…

    • +1

they just want you to remember these moments so you buy kogan first next time a deal is posted

      • Maybe if it didnt cost almost double ebay plus or prime, and have none of the cashbacks/bonuses of those two…

  • Thanks, got some for work.

  • Thats like 12 cent a piece!

Yeah shipping kills the deal @ $9. Unless you really really really need it, go for it.
There's a almost identical set on AliExpress for $48.
I stick with me blade screw drivers to wedge things open.

    • +13

$9.99 for the kit plus $9 delivery. Please explain how an almost identical kit on AE is better value at $48.

  • +4

i have the screwdriver set and use it for pc building, it's pretty decent for what you pay

  • Thanks, bought one for Kris Kringle

  • Not worth $19 delivered

  • kit $10, shipping $15

Good deal, to Kogan :) not to me

    • Shipping should be 9$ unless you live somewhere semi- remote?

  • Already on another Kogan First free trial, so had no option but to buy it. Not sure what I'll do with it.

    • +1

I am sure most of us have more than one account.

      • some of my old accounts qualified for another kogan first trial lol

  • +1

I have almost all of these inclusions,
but in several different 'pouches' and cases.

So, I really like this Kogan offering,
because it's neatly arranged & packed.

That organization alone is worth it for a purchase,
but yes, the shipping kills the deal for me.

  • kogan first is a scam, they put you on a paid subscription so you get "free" shipping, the shipping isnt free its expensive then you need to figure out how to cancel the subscription

    • +1

Its not difficult to cancel. Ive signed up and cancelled a few times in the last few years.
Click on your account icon - go to Kogan first tab then Cancel free trial. I normally wait a few days until I have shipping notification

    • lol i know people [rightfully] hate on kogan but the trial is so easy to cancel. they even send you an email to remind you your trial is almost up. set up a reminder on your phone and you're set.

For those who find the shipping the deal breaker; the Kogan Black Credit Card is one of the very few credit cards on the market, which is a Rewards Card and $0 annual fee for life. It also comes with complimentary Kogan First. There's a few reviews about the card on the Deals Financials pae as it generally has some $300, $400 or $500 cash back after open up. You accumulate rewards by 1 point per $1 spend and then redemption of products is 1 point to a cent, so this deal would be free with $999 of credit card spend, which most people do reasonably quickly.

    • This is the only reason my Kogan CC is still active. Haven't used since it since my initial minimum spend, only kept it for free kogan first which I hardly use as well.

      • +1

Good tip, although another credit enquiry might put a dent in the score

  • Nice op, ordered. My old Apple Time Capsule HDD has died and need to take it to bits to replace, this is just what the Doctor ordered.

  • I have exact same ones but from ebay. Bought for $19 I think. Works fine for small jobs. Nice storage to neatly pack and store.
Good quality stuff and has magnetic screws.

    Steal at $9.99

  • +1

Just join "Kogan first" to get the free shipping then remember to cancel it a few days later when it has shipped.
    Thanks OP.. bought one

  • I've had this exact kit for 3 years now and I am impressed with it *for the price. I've used it on phones, headsets, mice and other various things.

Out of stock when I was in the checkout

Side note, terrible website design that I have to click through to be notified that it's out of stock instead of putting it right there on the page, but I guess that's par for the course for Kogan

    • not really…. I think must have gone out of stock after you clicked. Now you can clearly see OOS on the main page. I missed it too thanks to the minute it took me to sign up to kogan one trial. Saved myself $10

      • +1

They changed it since I wrote the comment but I meant on the page itself it wouldn't show the out of stock notification until you tried to add it to your cart

        • There is always a delay between when item is out of stock and showing up on the product page. It is not manually updated lol

  • Out of stock for me as well.

  • +1

Is there a way to stop kogan from auto subscribing you back to their newsletter after every purchase? It is annoying af

    • sadly not. i've resigned myself to just go to the preferences and unsubscribe from the lot after every order

  • +1

Sadly it is sold out now :(
