  • Saw this at woolies this morning. Thought of picking it up, but wanted to read up on it before buying. Any idea how this one is? I know the 3.5L is good based on feedback here.

I got this one back in April when it was $42 - not a bad unit, it does a good job for me when I want chips with dinner (I live alone and it comfortably fits a single serve in there, I've done serves for two and I'd say three, maybe four serves, would be its maximum).

Easy to clean, the touch sensitive buttons can be a bit temperamentall if your fingers are anything but perfectly dry, but apart from that I have no complaints.

      • Nice, Thanks mate :)

  • There's a 3L air fryer at Coles for $40 if someone is after one a similar size to the Kmart 3.2L air fryer, but this will be quite small

can confirm any of the ones mentioned in these posts will hold a full 3L milk bottle.

      I wouldn’t recommend frying that

  • kitchen culture the best

  • How is this compared to 10L for same price

    • 10L for $49?

        that deal is long gone

I bought one of these a few months ago for the same price thinking that digital would be easier and quicker… but nope!

I switched back to one with the dials within 2 weeks. Not as accurate of course but so much easier than having to push so many buttons just for it to do a simple job. I also found that it was quite loud compared to the other ones especially when it takes a bit of time to cool down so the fan is on full blast.

  • The 3.5L model is quite rough with opening and closing the basket. Is this digital 4L any smoother?

  • Digital air fryer? Does this mean there's no temperature control, it's either on or it's off?

Bought one a while ago. Mine might just be a one off but the digital control glitches when removing the basket. Doesn't cook super well, not the best experience with it tbh

    • The same thing happens to me. Sometimes when I put the basket in, I can't get it to turn on. It's very inconsistent. I'm about to return the thing

There are two main problems I've had with air fryers of this design.

    a. The main one is that if you cook something for a long time that unexpectedly leaches out a lot of oil, when you pull the 'tray' (cooking chamber) out, unless you keep it perfectly level scorching hot oil tips out the bottom of it; at best onto the floor, at worst directly onto your bare feet.

    b. Another problem is that as alluded to by 'imissbeans' above, these things require a very 'sturdy/sure' fit of the cooking chamber back into the unit if it is pulled out mid-cook for a check; otherwise they do not turn back on. The instinctive/reflexive thing to do (until you've learned not to the hard way) is to place one hand at the back of the unit to hold it steady, while using the other hand to firmly reinsert the cooking chamber. If you do that though, you will burn your hand on the part of the unit where the cord plugs into it; which has heated up to about a squillion degrees.

Has anyone else had either of these problems? Have they been solved in later models (I have a pretty early model but it looks the same as the one in this post)?

    • Having used one of these I'm not sure how a) will be an issue unless it leeched out so much oil that it's literally full of oil, or you're holding the basket for some reason at a greater than 45 degree angle in which case your dinner is sure to follow, however b) could be an issue but it is not one I have encountered - just a firm shove back into the unit, it beeps and it's off and going again.

      • The one I have has horizontal 'grill-type' slits all around the circumpherence of it, extending all the way down to only about 1 cm off the bottom. So if any more than about 0.5 cm of oil leaches out into that bottom bit, only a very slight tilt causes hot oil to come cascading out one of the bottom slits. It seems like a design flaw to me. I'll have a look at some of the more expensive ones in K-mart or wherever, and see if they are designed this same way. I'm guessing they're not.

    • You can put baking paper in the tray, Just scrunch up a sheet of baking paper and then roughly line the inside of the tray. You can then just lift out the paper and the oil.

  • I have the 3.5L unit with dials.

Issue I have is the inner rack falls/tips out when I try to pour the cooked chips into a bowl.

For $44 that I paid, can't complain too much. Had it for two years now.

  • I have one of these and they are great - works all the time.

Not sure about the basket issue, the screen turns off to stop you from it cooking while the bucket is out, but when you put the bucket back in - it resumes where it left off.

Can control the temperature up to 200c.

I cook my chips in this and take it out every 5 minutes and rotate the chips and then continue cooking.

    No problems with mine.

I would recommend to buy for $50

  • Just bought one and used it once, thoughts:
    - same buttons for time and temperature takes a bit use to coming from a kmart air fryer (3.2l)
    - it has a flat tray which you put in as opposed to a basket, so i suppose smaller item to wash
    - but the above means, your food is right up against the edge of the bucket so although at 4L, it feels like you'd put as much if not less than the 3.2
    - big vents at the back releasing all the hot air
