Bali Personnel Hire [Resolved]

Friends big birthday.

For a present, I would like to hire a couple of staff members for 1 week to do various of novelty tasks.
I think it's fairly important to hire at least 1-2 staff members as a gift.
Each Staff member is given only 1 task to do. Budget is $50-100 Aud a day for like 6-8 hours of work, having a read online, it's not bad for a very simple job. I can't seem to find any instance of these jobs online even existing.

We got the other staff like butler, chef and housekeeper but they came with the house and will be tending to all guests on the day.

Tasks include:

  • Throwing petals as he walks
  • Fanning him with a large palm fan
  • Feeding him fruit into his mouth whilst he relaxes
  • Carrying him around in a palanquin

Couldn't remember the rest, but the first two will suffice.

Please keep all nasty comments to yourself, I'm very serious about finding someone
I found a couple of people and my concierge service is going to find the rest. Frankly, the ozbargain forums are completely useless with prideful people. The world is on the decline and I hope recession doesn't bite you too hard, good luck.

More websites linking to the frowned upon tasks provided by locals who will treat me really badly. Definitely going to get roasted for cultural appreciation.
Look at all the enslaved priests performing the ceremony. They're forced to do such a demaning task. These newly weds in the photos have all been arrested and deported for these attrocities.

Carying around in palanquin, feeding an adult. Demeaning tasks. You dont get to tell me what i think is demeaning in my culture. I would love for all this to blow in OPs face when someone local post this on fb.

But you said the first part.

You said it's a demeaning task. One of the task that you insistently claim is demeaning is also royal and spiritual in YOUR CULTURE. Also approved by the Balinese Tourism Board.

        • +1

Forget it sunnyc. Wiede is as Balinese as a 58 year old overweight male from the Northern Beaches with a bintang singlet and a "live laugh love" sign at home.

        • +1

Out of the 4 tasks, this feeding task doesn't have to be done. Also how feeding someone is contrived as demeaning is really (profanity) up. Feeding someone in many cultures is a sign of caring and endearment. It's a reward to be fed by someone.

          • @sunnyc: For somebody who claims they don't care what others think and that they're completely right, you sure seem to spend a lot of time trying to justify your actions.

Prove us all wrong. Stop commenting. Go to Bali. Hire your slaves. Post pics.

              @GrueHunter:

              Hire your slaves

              You don't pay slaves.

@Clear: Sure, I'll put " " " air quotes " " " around it just for you so you don't get your feelings hurt

Prove us all wrong. Stop commenting. Go to Bali. Hire your " " " slaves just pretending it's a hilarious joke lol " " ". Post pics.

@GrueHunter: The only people who have hurt feelings are the ones running around negging people. I love controversial forum posts.

        • Why would you love that?

Can we please slow the conversation down? I have run out of negs.

Let's just upvote your comment instead so OP knows they're negs

How's this more demeaning than a sex worker doing it with some disgusting old fat foreigner. Asia is full of these types of services (and customers). My BIGGER issue is eating food from someone's filthy hands lol.

I wouldn't go so far as to say that sex tourism and hiring a fan waver are on par, but it feels they are coming from the same kind of general disregard for the dignity of others, albeit in entirely different measure.

It's interesting to note the outrage on this thread, though. We have similar jobs here that are also fairly demeaning, but generally accepted. For instance, those guys who stand in the December sun all day holding signs or wearing suits outside of Christmas stores.

To a lesser extent, being a retail worker can also be kind of demeaning, because some customers have that weird sort of expectation of being treated like a VIP , compliance/order following. I literally witnessed an incredibly rude guy approach a staff member and have them chaperone him around the store with the trolley, picking up items as he pointed to them. This would be fine if the guy was old, had a disability, or needed assistance for some reason - but the dude was remarkably fit, and presented as though he could be UFC fighter or soccer player.

While I didn't experience too much of it during my brief tenure at a supermarket during uni (owing, I believe to my height, gender, and background), my colleagues (especially female international students) were sometimes treated like slaves by customers.

Having to fan someone for 8 hours and having to follow the orders of someone that you know perceives you as lesser, while simultaneously withholding the urge to tell someone to go (profanity) themselves to preserve your income, don't feel that dissimilar.

Your inability to self-reflect is astounding.

Can you change the destination? Libya has beaches, architecture, history, excitement and a vibrant culture - apparently you could buy an authentic full-time human for only USD400! - an absolute bargain, even accounting for ongoing maintenance. OP could even sell the slaves when done and just pay the arbitrage.

Likely it's a tad more expensive now since the European NGO's have been grabbing them by the boatload, "nevertheless opportunity favours the brave" (Richard Branson - 'Billionaire'). https://time.com/5042560/libya-slave-trade/

Haha fk the poors, right OP?

    You’re gross.

OP has more dollars than sense.

  • +2

I used to be a farmer, workin' gherkins all night long.

I think people are being a little OTT, especially when nek minute they are working out schemes to scam uber delivery drivers or yelling at supermarket workers.

    Everyone has their price.

Pay me enough i would do it but not a lousy 50$ for a days work

    • +1

Relative to Bali highest salary of $500 a month. $50-100 per day is like 1 week worth per day.

    • Curious to know your price. $200 a day?

      • Depends;

Let's say I am already in Bali and I have a free day, I'd take the $200 and work 6-8 hours.

But if I have to fly in / travel to get there etc maybe not.

        • Well good to know.

  • This is a joke, right?

  • +1

If any of you have bought anything from Amazon, you've done far worse than what the OP is suggesting. We all know the stories of Amazon staff being coerced into 14 hour shifts without a toilet break.

    • But they don't consider that slavery. I gotta make sure to install those suicide nets over the pools for the petal throwers though. It's a very consuming job, you never know when they'll jump.

There are no bathroom breaks for the fruit feeder. Can't risk them not washing their hands. Unless my friends into brined fruit
