Man that price is worth the DC motor fan alone.

  • Thanks Op. ordered One

  • +1

The fan can be control using Alexa or google home?

    • +1

have used other xiaomi stuff through alexa, so this should be fine too, i can see it in the app

      • Has anyone tested it with alexa or google yet?

  • How long does the fan last for? I usually always buy the Kmart $10 one, but always broken every year and need to keep replacing it.

    • +3

I've bought the $12 Bunnings one and had it last for years if that's any help. I think it's been around 8+ years right now. Another I may have broken by sticking things into the blade when I was younger..

We've got another one that's really old, old enough to not have the insulation on the power plugs that has only recently died, but starts if you give it a spin first lol (wouldn't recommend of course).

The cheap ones are definitely a bit more fragile (usually easier to knock over) so not trying to talk you out of spending more. There's definitely benifts to the better ones. But I'm pretty happy with the cheap ones so far.

    • +4

What are you doing to your fans? We have only ever bought cheap ones and they last years!

      • Mishandling and asthetics is the main reason everyone throws these cheap fans in the bin every autumn.
Also 12 month warranty so a return to store is popular for the not so wasteful lazy lot

  • +4

bought… now… what else can I do with the hub? lol

  • does the fan have HA integration?

    • I had the same question, but based on web docs doesn't seem like it. Might look into adding a new integration sometime.

  • how's the Viomi fan compared to the Xiaomi 2s?

  • Bought; thanks OP.

The Xiaomi sensors will work with my Home Assistant/Zigbee setup, and I think the fan will too.

    • Will they work with the Tuya app? Keen to know this for the door sensor.

      • not Tuya,
        these are zigbee based sensors

        • OK thank you!

          • @Trishool: I believe Tuya will work with (free, open-source) Home Assistant, if you want to tie everything together.

        • +1

You can get Tuya zigbee hubs and pair zigbee devices to it, so Tuya supports zigbee. I am not sure if it supports these specific zigbee devices though, each ecosystem tends to put their own little proprietary touch on them to spoil compatibility.

  • +1

Hmm already on the Xiaomi Mi Smart app ecosystem… It doesn't appear that the Viomi branded fan is compatible and has it's own app, so a deal breaker for me. Correct me if I'm wrong?

    • +7

There is a Viomi Smart Tower Fan option in the Mi Home App. Hopefully that's the one we need.

      • +2

Yes That's exactly the one you need

      • +1

That is not the correct one for me. It comes in as the Viomi AI DC Inverter floor fan 3

    • +2

They should share the same Xiaomi app. I bought the Viomi heater over winter, and that seamlessly integrated into the Xiaomi app.

      • Which heater did you get? There were some interesting viomi ones I saw that were wide and sat very low on the ground, but never saw any reviews about them

  • Would this use Singapore region in Xiaomi Home app? Similar to Air purifiers?

    • +1

      you can

    • +1

use Australia region . Singapore region is also fine

  • +1

    Just want the fan

      • +1

Processing Time (Dispatching In): 10-50 business days after payment approval

        • Yeh not sure about that site, but its the current cheapest in Aus. Most other sites its $99, so it would be better to just the the OP deal

          • +2

            @kerodean: AZAU is also PCByte

            • +1

@impoze: Cheers! I just bought the fan only through this site with free delivery.

      • Cheers mate!

        • OK, received it. Not too impressed has some wobble/rattle. Much prefer the Kogan fan tbh.

    • Onlyfans.com ?

  • Does anyone know if I can control this from Google Home?

Don't really want to set up HA as my current stuff - IKEA tradfri and smart lights - works fine just from the Google Home app.

  • Good timing was after a fan for summer.

  • Thanks OP - got one

  • Thanks op, got one

  • thanks op, got one

  • Looks like it's back up to 199 now?

I might have got lucky in the last few minutes! Hopefully that means they have enough stock to fulfil the $89 orders.

    Thanks op!

  • that was quick…

  • Back to 89 for me

    • thanks got one

  • Does the gateway integrate with apple homekit?

  • +4

Back to $89…just made a purchase

  • Still working, not expired

  • +1

got one thanks, will this work with apple homekits?

  • Got one. Thanks OP.

New Viomi fan deal via ebay has been posted

Viomi Smart Home Pedestal Tower Fan $62.40 ($60.84 with eBay Plus) Delivered @ Luckymi eBay

Cancelled my PCbyte order and went with that as don't need the extra hub & kit for $30

  • +7

    Why did I buy this…

    • +10

Because of 100+ votes on ozb. The struggle is real.

    • +2

Never thought I'd be buying a fan today, and yet here we are.

  • Thanks, got one. Fan doesn't seem to have home assistant support, but maybe it's possible to add it if I spend enough hours tinkering with it lol.

    • +1

Have a look at the less known MioT integration (if this is a Xiaomi compatible device) as it tends to support more devices than miio.

      • Wonder if it will play nice with BTLE. I guess we'll see! Thanks for the link

        • Any luck with getting the fan integrated with Home Assistant?

          • @The Hobo: Nope. There's a new model request on repo's GitHub page but I don't think support will be added unless someone makes a pull request. I didn't have time to take a look how it worked.

As of now it's not possible.

  • -1

I cannot see any physical buttons on the fan itself - hence pass.

  • Ordered tnx

  • Bought one. Thanks OP!

    • +1

Any one knows the ETA of this?

Edit: Nevermind, just found the shipping page here.

      • mine has already shipped out :)

  • +1

Just a reminder that the fan is corded.. so that others are not confused like me.

    • lol what? of course it is?

      • +1

some of the previous models had built in battery

        • I thought that too as my xiaomi 2s has the battery.

  • +2

It seems powered by 12V DC power, 20W, which means I can connect my GOOLOO car jump starter as battery to power it up. Will be handy if no power plug nearby.

    • I hope your joking? Pretty sure this is 240V AC, mains powered, and will have an inverter built in to the circuitry to produce DC (no clue at what voltage) to power the fan motor. Unless you have an DC to AC inverter you won't be able to power this from a 12V DC supply.

      • mlenser my understanding is inverters go the other way.
        I think you mean rectifier.
DC motor should be fine, assuming the voltage is OK and the battery can supply the power needed.
For the rest of the device, the "smarts", that might need voltage change (my guess is 5V or 3.3V) but what electronic components actually run at 240V AC? None that I know of. (and if the motor is 12V then this conversion is likely already in there)

        • +1

Not sure why you (edit: were) being downvoted.

I am uneducated on the topic but just plugged my vape charger into the fan (12V @ 3A DC barrel) and it ran no problems.

  • How does this compares to the Kogan one? https://www.kogan.com/au/buy/kogan-premium-dc-motor-pedestal…

    • I bought one of these just assembled today, it is considerably smaller and not as good in my opinion. It also has a subtle but annoying wobble and rattle. Might return it.

  • +2

What's so special in this fan/dc fan ?

  • +1

Please keep in mind the fan in this deal seems to be the older version of what's shown on Viomi's website
Notice the blade design is different.

  • Looks like a great deal, I’ll give it a crack!

  • Ordered mine last week, anyone receive it yet?

    • +1

Ordered the day this was posted and only just got the shipping notification with Auspost tracking today. Also, signature on delivery and can't do safe drop which is a bummer.

    • +4

My package came today without the fan. It was only the "Xiaomi Mi Smart Home Kit 4 In 1 Starter Pack".

Just sent PCByte an email asking whether or not they forgot.

      • +2

        Same here.

I've notice there are 2 tracking numbers so I guess it's yet to be sent but will arrive.

I just checked my AusPost app and I have a item "Ready for Processing" with a matching tracking number. The sender shows "From Walker Zhang".

      • +3

Same as you. only received the Mi Smart Home Starter Pack.
Did they give you any update?

      • +2

Same here, only receive the smart home kit without fan

    • Arrived today, which given there were two public holidays between ordering and delivery in Melb, seems about right.

      • i only receive the shipping notice today, finger crossed

    • I got the starter pack about 2 weeks ago and the fan arrived just now. I lodged a query with AP a week ago. No help whatsoever. A cso at the post office worked out where it was. For some reason there's one tracking number for two parcels. It's been a pita. The fan's smaller than I expected (not sure what I expected, really). Nice and quiet.
