What a nice timing. AMEX offer ended yesterday and today they restock.

  • +12

Not a bargain in any way, unless you think Horizon Forbidden West is worth 140 dollars.

    • +6

What if I think it's worth 410 dollars

      • +7

What are you smoking? It's worth at least 420

        • +2

          And free shipping. Double bargain!

    • +6

Agree, Not a bargain in any way.

    • +7

Sony increased the base price of the PS5 by $50.

  • +1

Not stated, but I assume that the game is a digital game voucher. Like the other deals.

  • I have heard that with the PC9 you will have to buy a bundled house.

    • You gotta be a 5-year PS+ veteran

  • +8

This costs more than buying the console and the game separate? Basically Sony is scalping their own products for above market prices.

    • +4

Noo, they are selling both at their RRP

      • +6

Which makes sense for the console due to high demand, why would they discount it. Problem is the game has unlimited supply and isn't worth RRP. So the bundle isnt a bargain at all.

    • +1

RRP Horizon Forbidden West - $124.95
      RRP PS5 Disco - $799

      • +11

I didn't realise Sony had increased the RRP on the console, insane! I got mine at launch so haven't been following.

Increasing RRP and only selling in an overpriced bundle, Sony really are very scummy.

        • +1

I didn't realise Sony had increased the RRP on the console, insane!

          A first!

        • +2

Same story with NVIDIA/AMD graphics cards and scalper retailers that were all in on it for the past 2 years when they had supply issues (except for PLE computers I think?).

Xbox is the buy this year.

  • +4

If amex was active it'd be ok. But it's not, so sony can get stuffed

  • +2

someone else will always be willing to buy a PS5, bargain or not.
otherwise, we will not be having this OOS issues all around.

    • +4

The stock issues are rumoured now to be partly artificial.. That Sony is playing games to make it look scarcer than it is. Don't know if true but I put nothing past them given their past infractions

      • -1

        Not true…..

  • +1

    sonyflation

  • +8

I will continue to down vote these rip off prices

  • +5

    Makes no sense at all

    • -1

      Dual Sense?

  • +3

    SONY===== Doing Damage :(

  • +2

$50 less one month ago This is not a deal.

  • Not the cheapest

  • +2

Bundles are shit no way is this game worth that much

  • +10

Even though I can afford it and really want a PS5, I will let others buy at this price. (I am not that desperate) Microsoft did not jack up price of the x series whereas Sony did. Increased rrp, and terrible bundle price. No for Sony this generation.

    • Well see about XBox. Phil Spencer recently refused to rule out a price rise on Series X. Doubt they will lift price before Christmas considering the pallets sitting idle in Costco.
XB price increase could be around February if they decide to lift it. Rumours of price rise could increase sales for XB by punters wanting to get in before.

  • Not a deal, sorry.

  • +2

Reply to SSN89 about why we complaining
Because this is Ozbargain. Not a place to buy inflated terrible bundle price regardless of inflation.

  • +2

Vote with your wallet and don't this overpriced bundle, people not buying has had a big effect on graphics card prices it can work here too.

  • -1

Flap Sony, support Microsoft for not increasing prices.

    • Yeah….that'll teach Sony :)

      • +1

Less sales will teach Sony ;) wishful thinking won’t happen though.

  • -1

    Not a deal

  • -1

    No deal

  • +1

No deal, should be $749 bundle

  • +2

No description, specs, or features on the page. A bit crazy on a $900 bundle but I guess PS5s must really sell themselves…

    • +2

Sony really aren't giving a shit this generation. Public opinion is thankfully starting to shift as people see this isn't the same Sony from 2013.

  • +1

Well. I only want the console. :(

  • -5

PS Extra is great value, Demon Souls, Returnal, Ghost of tsushima, Death stranding etc, so many great games. I was disappointed with the Xbox X still used batteries for the controller. Plus the dual sense feedback on the PS5 controller is amazing. You can feel the force and release of firing arrows in Horizon. And the whole VVR, 4K etc looks amazing on my Oled TV (thx OzB for that!). The 3D sound is perfect. Playing Metro Exodus, I was able to sneak around in the dark avoiding monsters just by using the 3D sound. That was a first, I’ve been using all types of 3D sounds over the years. Last of Us 1 & 2 looks amazing and Elden Ring runs better on the PS5 than the Xbox. EBaying my Xbox X and going for a Switch Lite & PS5 combo, I’m in gaming nirvana. Really looking forward to the VR headset and Pro controller next year. And the newly announced team ninja Ronin looks fantastic too.

Lol really trying to sell someone a ps5. Real sony fan right here.

      Forced combo deals. Thanks
Ps extra more expenive then gamepass with out day one exclusives. Thanks

Sony and jim ryan your the best. You love your gamers.

  • +1

I bet Sony are patting themselves on the back at how many copies of Horizon Forbidden West they've forcibly sold.

  • I don't come here for the bargains. I come here to buy a PS5 for above RRP, it's what I'm all about.

  • $50 MORE for 2 year old console. Thanks

    • For reference and not just Sony, SEGA were the same in the 80's.
Games in were well over $100 each in 1980, todays dollars $180 +.

How much was a PS1 in Australia 1995?
The PS1 was launched into the Australian market 27 years ago on November 15, 1995 with an RRP of $699.95. In todays dollars around the $1200 mark in $2020"

How much was a PS3 in Australia 2007?
"It was the most expensive console at the time, mostly due to it's bluray capability, the 60gb unit set Aussie consumers back $999 (which equates to over $1400 in 2022)."

      • Who cares about the past please tell me a time when 3 year old console had a price increase.

Not only that forcing horizon down our throat.

The fact that they arnt selling the console alone just shows they are money hungry and taking advantage of the situation.

  • +1

Is is the improved version of PS5?

    • +1

Yes, i've purchased one of these bundles from Big W last week and it is the CFI-1202A model.

    • Yer the cheaper yet more expensive version

      • If the hardware changes were not made then the increase would need to be $100+. Its a combination of both. Reduce manufacturing costs to minimise the increase to $50. This version of PS5 with the smaller motherboard, 6nm chip and more efficient cooling will steer toward the development of a PS5 slim with release probably by end 2023 or early 2024.

        • +1

Lmao that would be something. $100 on 2 year old hardware. Not to mention the forced bundle deals.
Funny the increase isnt in America.
Stop trying to defend sony for this ridiculous $50 increase. They only did it cos they are the top dogs and are taking advantage of the consumers.

          • @Jklaro: Lmao that would be something. $1000 increase on brand new motor vehicle from a dealership. Do you rant at Car Dealers for raising costs of new cars?
Increases are happening everywhere. You might not have noticed, but cash rate/interest rates rose 1.75% in the past 5 months.

Increase is not in America due to the strong US Dollar.
Sony have been top dogs for the past 25 years. Would only increase a consoles price if absolutely necessary. Last thing they want is to increase the price of 2 year old tech in the middle of a console war to gain profits at the risk of losing market share.
Sony PS are still losing $100+ on every console they sell, due to cost to manufacture and the huge increases in shipping costs. Number 1 reason for changes to heat sync is the price of copper has risen and becomes uneconomical to continue and the main reason as to why they change to aluminium and the 450 gram reduction of weight for each box sold, which if were only $1 saved per unit adds up to millions saved per year. If they don't make the hardware component changes, inflation at 6.8% would lift the console price by well over $100.

            • @klaatu: Lol yer and nintendo and xbox dont have an issue either do graphics cards.

What about your $10 ps5 upgrades to the same game you already bought?

All electronics come down over time not up.
Tvs phones computers. Sony is just taking advantage of the situation and i hope they loose because of these bs moves they are doing.

              • @Jklaro: All electronics come down over time not up.
In a normal world. What part of the Pandemic and the impact it's had on manufacturing and transportation don't you understand. What part of the past 2 years would you consider normal in the world of manufacturing and nearly any product that contains semi conductors. SSD are coming down, but very slowly, not like they might have without the pandemic. Work forces were decimated with global shutdowns. Game developers are anything up to 12 months behind on their releases, which at the end of the day costs money. It's also a knock on effect with the impact still being felt today.

And incorrect on graphics cards. PC users are in some cases selling their 12 month old graphic cards for more than they bought them.

                • @klaatu: Well no i bought a 3070 for 1300 12 months ago. Now it can be had for 800. Nintendos and xbox price of games and consoles are the same.

Sorry stop trying to defend sonys bs.

You have to admit sony is just money hungry they can sence xbox is about to take over gaming industry once activision deal goes through.

  • -1

Horrible pricing after 3 years of released

  • +1

The deal is that its in stock.

    • Is that a haiku?

  • +1

^ Nunubuffs gets it. They're hard enough to score.

  • Million reasons to neg, but mine is to make there be 22 negs to match the 22 posi, perfectly balanced as all things should be

  • +1

I might be wrong, but this is the first time ive ever seen a console increase in price. Dont remember the ps1, ps2, gameboy etc etc ever increasing in price, regardless of interest rates, global financial crisis, wars overseas etc

    • Jim Ryan special

    • Yes it would be the first from memory. Launch price was $100 less than the industry expected, so maintaining the price under current economic upheaval would have been near impossible. Same with increases to just about every imported electrical product from Dishwashers to eBikes….

      • Really I like to see another electrical item that is now more expensive then it was 3 years ago.

  • Still better than spending $894.95 on an Xbox and Xbox games.

    • -1

Except an XBSX isn't $894.95. Also, it's a more powerful console.

      • Also, it's a more powerful console.

Yes it is. Just like all the other XBox, that languished in 2nd or third in sales behind SIE or Nintendo.
Watch some Digital Foundry comparisons of XBSX on YT.

        • The original Xbox One wasn’t. The Xbox One X however was.

The OG Xbox beat the GameCube in performance and sales.

          • @PainToad: Gamecube struggled in all aspects.
The old MS chestnut of XB being more powerful is a drum they keep beating, when no one listens to that anymore.

            • +1

@klaatu: With 360 vs PS3 is a grey area. PS3 was technically slightly more powerful but hard to develop for. 360 outsold the PS3 for most of the generation, with the PS3 only taking the lead at the very end (after many price cuts).

  • Lol RIP standalone console.
