  • Does it actually have a 4ms input lag? That's pretty insane if it does. Used to the ~40 with my TK800.

    • At 240hz/1080p it does but goes up to 17ms at 60hz/4k

Cheapest 4k projector I've ever seen.

    • Not new, but I got my TK800 refurb direct from BenQ for just over $1k, about 3-4 years ago. Had one minor issue which they fixed for free, otherwise been perfect.

This does look like a great deal though, particularly in the input lag department, if it's as good as it claims.

I have this and is amazing, was tossing up between this, the px748 and the UHD35+ but went with the cheaper option as it suited my use case

Nice! I was about to drop $1000 for a 1080p projector. I'm happy to stretch my budget for 4k!

  • Does this actually achieve a contrast ratio of 1,200,000:1? Is that possible with a projector? Most projectors I’ve seen are topping out in the thousands, not the hundreds of thousands/millions - is this a new way of measuring this information, or has technology very quickly exceeded that “expected” range?

    • it would be 200,000:1

      • I thought so too, but even the official Optoma website lists it at 1.2m:1. Is it just factually incorrect?

  • Would this still produce a rainbow effect for people susceptible to it?

Do note that this is not a true native 4K panel resolution projector. It uses pixel shifting technology to get the 4K resolution.
True 4K panel projectors still cost in excess of $5000 and closer to $10000.

But for most people this technology works well and you will be hard pressed to tell that it wasn't native 4K.
I have an Epson TW7100 projector and it uses pixel shifting as well to get 4K and the image is still very impressive.

This is from the Optoma website:
DLP True 4K XPR Technology - Fast switching XPR technology creates pixels horizontally and vertically in four ways to achieve 8.3M pixels on screen

  • We have one of these; watching House of the Dragon on it as I type.

They're good, but they're a nightmare to get the colour right on and we have been utterly unable to get the highlights not to be turdlights.

Consider this a "for a few bucks more than a 1080p" and not home theatre on the cheap.

Not sure what the resolution had to do with colour in your last sentence.

      • That's okay! Life is difficult sometimes. But stick with it, bud, you'll get there!

You should probably stop spreading mis information.

  • Would this be bright enough for a brightly lit room?
