Probably most useful review comment ever:
I bought a cheap TV and I got what I paid for.
LOL everybody knows that any decent 75inch tv would cost upwards of 2000 dollars these days, more like 3-4K for a good quality one.
Is this 75" LG 4K TV not decent & good quality for $1560 delivered?: https://www.appliancesonline.com.au/product/lg-75-inch-uq90-…
Not according to Rtings.com called it a mediocre tv and tbh even my 2016 Sony has better picture quality than this LG.
Anyways for 800 bucks for this tv I wouldn't be complaining especially knowing what you get yourself into at this price point
LOL even my $1100 2020 Samsun Q60T isn't even that good - you need to spend like 2-3 k for a decent TV in Australia.
@BargainHunterJohnnyB: You do because it seems that inflation has jacked up the prices of the good TVs. Either that or the manufacturers are being dicks by reserving their good stuff for the midrange and up.
2016 Sony has better picture quality
what is the model number? I got Sony TV(2014?) from gumtree from well spent $70 and great picture quality.
@bazingaa: X800D. Called x8000d here I think, but is same model. Beats the lower end LGs in a lot of metrics which I found surprising but ok.
@adrianhughes1998: wow! that's 4k HDR even back then
@bazingaa: Haha that's exactly the deal I saw and bought the 43inch. I know it was mind blowing back then with HDR, now its just normal.
But very weird to see that the successors like the 800E, 800F, G etc had worse and worse quality. So I think that Sony and others were moving the better quality further up their product line to say the 900 series etc, which I guess makes sense - but you don't want models to get worse with time. Dunno just rubs me the wrong way.
Been 795 for a while -surprised they didn’t get rid of them all last sale
as they always say it’s the QUANTITY not the QUALITY…
Wait…
haha my favourite saying
Not a deal. Regular price.
You are right they dropped the price. Sale price was as low as $636: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/711354
Compared to a 10 year old LG 55" would this still be a decent upgrade.
2012 would be 1080p, and lack a lot of the Android TV polish. It would also lack a lot of the overlay features needed for smart apps, and not have LG WebOS.
Short answer is yes.
Long answer is Maybe. If I was going for 65” budget, probably would aim for the Hisense MiniLED U9G or TCL C735. A 75” or 85” budget is great, but it’s more prone to issues.
Would I get the 75” over a moderate 65” ? Not for a living room. Reliable is king. You don’t want to reboot your TV because the audio drops out during the news.
If it was straight TV, not Netflix or Disney+, the LG over the Samsung. Kayo, is another issue. If you could get a Sony X75K or 80K cheaply, even better.
The difference in physical size for a 75” is enormous, so make sure you have 3 meters of vertical space for it. It’s your hand-span wide for most people, so it makes a big difference when the face on screen is around as large as a real person in the room.
The problem is, really one of diminishing returns. You don’t get the nice features.
Does that mean the Hisense or LG budget models are better ? Not much better. The problem is that the cheap TVs only handle digital content well. Regular TV can be dismal.
Edge Lit LED is okay at 55”, but at 75” you are going to be distracted sometimes with the patchy grey instead of black bars having all kinds of shades of bright grey and dark grey.
TV will look worse in 4K than the older LG TV. Android 10 is okay, but don’t expect it to look like the Sony or Hisense. Streaming and video game consoles will look great, but regular TV will be a bit more shabby. Changing channels might take 8 seconds. EPG might be flaky.
The software is that difficult to get right aspect of the TV. Which is why an older LG or Samsung is often better in a living room,
and the Blaupunkt/FFalcon/Xiaomi/Hisense/Bauhn-Aldi is better in a bedroom or rumpus where you are using it for non-TV watching.
Use it on my bedroom (dont judge) it does the job
I'd think this would be great for a 2nd tv. Probably not something to haul the family around to watch the latest blockbuster but perfect for "vomiting" over Karl in the mornings.
I wouldn't scar any TV with FTA….
Got one from JB commercial for $721.96. Pretty happy with the purchase in general. For people using this tv as a secondary tv I would say go for it. The image and sound quality is pretty good in this price point. (Tbh no much difference to the Samsung Q60A)
The chips is pretty average so this might be the reason why the tv is laggy but again it’s only a secondary tv…
One thing i hope you know before you buy it is that there is a known issue with regards to frozen screen when rebooting the screen from sleep mode.
I had this issue. There are two ways to resolve it: reconnecting to the main power (I.e. unplug) or making sure you make the backlit higher than 70 (50 by default). To do it just simply go to settings - image.
Picked this up for $720 using the AFTERHOURS 10% off the other night. Pretty happy with it for the price, apart from 3 minor issues -
1. It doesn't seem to reconnect automatically to my wifi when I put it back on via the remote, however when I reselect my wifi I don't need to enter any more info, it just starts working?
2. I've paired the remote, however Google voice input still isn't working, I see the 4 audio level bouncy bars on screen hardly moving, as if the mic in the remote is faulty?
3. What budget sound system would you recommend, around $200? The default sound settings are horrible, you can get them slightly better, however I need some bass.
I'm in the market for a 75" TV but just can't seem to bring myself to pull the trigger on this one. Seems pretty cheap though.
