It has always been this way…

    • +4

Thats why i left. Telstra don't look after their own customers.

      • +59

        Neither does anyone else

        • +7

Agree however you're not paying exorbitant prices for no customer service

          • @vinni9284: True. But there are far worst out there. And you pay for the quality of their services offered, which they generally are the best in.

      • Surprise surprise.

      • To be fair, only Telstra allow you to collect points and claim rewards. No other telcos do this

    • easy enough to port out to one of the start SIM plans and port back in. I did this when I signed up to my corporate plan to get a port in bonus

      • +16

Half price after six months? You're thinking of Android Yunjow Masterflapper 3000.

You're not getting the newly released iPhone for half price after six months.

          • +1

@vinni9284: Just provide a link where last years iPhone is 50% cheaper and you win the discussion.

            • -3

              @BLB1984: New: https://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/p/iphone-13-…
              Used: https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/1250214779045306/?…

              New = $2367
              Used = $1200

              Therefore 50% less used
              iPhone 13 pro Max 512GB.

Took me a few mins to find.
I won lol .. Thanks for the neg

              • +6

@vinni9284: the fb ad is a scam. iPhones simply don't depreciate 50% in the first year.

                • -6

@thriftysach: Yeah yeah of course .. excuses. Try to contact them

                  • +1

@vinni9284: I am not trying to fight you. If you've ever bought anything from fb marketplace (assuming you havent since you cant identify a very obvious scam), the dead giveaways of a scam are:

                    1) location right in the middle of a major city - seller hiding their actual suburb or location
                    2) seller offers shipping
                    3) product priced very low compared to similar ones on the market.

I assure you if you contact the person, they will demand cash upfront/shipping and would not want to meet up. This is simply because if anything in a major city is priced low ($1200 for a 512GB iphone 13 pro max is very low), it goes asap.

                    • -2

@thriftysach: I think many are now well versed of the fb scamming techniques. On the contrary, there are some genuine bargains out there. The general rule of thumb "if it's too good to be true' does not always apply

              • +3

                @vinni9284: A. It's not half price.
                B. It's almost 12 months since the 13 was released..

                Looks like you lost.

                • -2

@prhino: Yeah all good. I think you get my point. They drop like flies. How much is your outdated phone now worth?

                  • +1

                    @vinni9284: You don't have a point.

I'm not an iPhone user by the way. 😂

                    • -6

@prhino: I have both Android and iPhone. They are worth half after several months.

                      • +1

@vinni9284: False. I'm an Android user, and they depreciate a lot faster than iPhone.

                        • -3

@prhino: Agree. But they all drop like flies, esp when the replacement gets released

                          • @vinni9284: Way off buddy. Example. My 13 Pro Max was 2k a year ago new and today and can sell it to one of those instant buy places for $1200. Easy $1500 or more on Scumtree etc.

                            • -1

@[Deactivated]: Why don't you try it? I no what I gut bro!

                              • @vinni9284: Try what exactly? I know you’re semi-trolling. But you’re terrible at it. I’m not looking to sell my phone yet. Maybe next year. Just telling you the facts.

                                • @[Deactivated]: Look above my post as I have sent 2 links for iPhone 13 Pro max 512MB. New and used.

        • +3

Couple of hundred less but yeah 50% discount? LOL maybe after 3 years.

          • @hamwhisperer: Check my above link

            • +2

@vinni9284: I saw the links. I’ll put mine up now and say I want 10 grand for it… doesn’t make it worth 10 grand.

              • @[Deactivated]: You'll probably get it. Many people are paying too much LOL

                • @vinni9284: Lol. Each to their own mate. But if the market is there, then people are happy to pay for it.

  • I wonder if you can combine a trade up with this deal?

    • Worth giving a shot mate, just hop in one of the store sorry I am not too sure about it

    • They have same value gift card on offer. You can do trade in

    • Hhm sorry i missed something, what trade up?

  • +1

    it should be 300GB data

  • Where does it say 300gb? I only see 200 gb…

    • 200GB + 100GB bonus data. T&Cs

To be eligible, new and port in connections must bring their mobile number to Telstra and sign up to the $99 200GB Per Month over 24 months plan with a minimum cost of $2376 to receive a $1200 off any Apple iPhone handsets over $1200 and a bonus 100GB The Good Guys Data per month for 24 months from the connection date. (“Promotion”)

      • So the offer is for any iPhones over $1200 not just 14?
Edit: on TTG website there is a choice of having $1200 gift card.

        • Yep it looks like it. I can't find any in-store iPhone 13 stock at TGG.

Can we put the sim card in a 4G/5G modem for home internet use?

    • are they going to give a sim? iphone 14 can't take sims right?

      • +16

The eSIM only iPhone 14 is for the US. In Oz you can still use a physical nano-SIM and eSIM.

        • +1

Thanks. I guess a lot of the initial reactions are US based. I suspect this may mean that US buyers may source externally if they want to use physical sim resulting in an over-competitive market.

      • Legit question +1

    • It can’t be used as a Data Sim as far as I know

      • Are sure sure?

  • I am wondering: can we do photo conference with telstra?

  • +1

Does port out from Boost Prepaid counts ?

      No.

    • Offer not available for existing Boost, Belong and Telstra Pre-Paid customers.

Where have you been the past couple years if you haven't seen what apple charges?

          • +16

@ballistykx: In 2 years time people will be paying $3000 for a mobile and still find a way to justify it.

            • +5

@shegeloaf: I predict the $3000 will allow you to make phone calls.

            • +2

@shegeloaf: They already do, look at the Samsung fold 4

              • +6

@onlinepred: At least the Fold 4 is pushing forward on the technological curve though. The iPhone isn't

                • -1

@jay889344: It’s just a very well built high end phone? That costs money….. A lot of money…. The original point was who would spent that much money on a phone, enthusiasts, that’s who….

          • +1

@ballistykx: I dunno man I thought the 'cheap' iPhones were like $1000 and the expensive $1800

I guess I'm a couple of years behind, starting at $1899 is kinda wild (!!)

        • +2

500 bucks for <400 gb of memory? Lol wtf.

        • +1

Why would you need a 512gb model?
Better question why need latest iPhone at all…

        • Someone's gotta pay that apple tax lol and plenty will then complain about the cost of food and petrol after

        • Don't you mean , what has "apple" come to !

  • -5

If possible Cost brake down would be nice as I am uneducated.! Please Ta.!

    • Plainly you can read though, so perhaps spend a little time on it and educate yourself.

    • +1

You this website, you can find google

  • -3

Are you still able to claim the $800 e-gift card for this $99 plan?

    • Are you serious?

  • +5

for those who already own 13 pro series, best to skip this 14 pro series for 15 pro series: 120Hz tick, same size 6.7” screen tick, 5G tick, A15 still good enough tick, battery still great tick.

    • +10

I want island which is dynamic.

      • Let's go to the island!

      • +4

Magnetic island off the coast of Townsville is very dynamic. You can fly there for about $400 return ticket 🎟 😉 and have change to buy a iphone 13 .

      • +2

Yea but it’s a terrible UX being at the top of the screen. Apple has slowly been making controls at the bottom of the screen for one handed use, now they put this at the top? I will be skipping it for sure.

    • I want purple though

    • +1

So they're going to downgrade the 14 Pro's A16 to A15 next year? Not even Apple could pull that off.

  • +1

Sorry new to phone plans - do we also need to pay for the cost of the phone ? or just $99 for 24 months and get a $1200 gift card and we can keep the phone ?

    • +2

There is no saving this this package really.

You pay 99p.m for the plan x24months
Ypi receive $1200 off the rrp of the phone. You pay the amount remaining one the phone to have the handset.

      So if the 512 is 2419 -1200 = $1219 outright to have phone and your $99 p.m x 24months.

You can get a 500gb p.m month to month plan at optus for $69 and its no lock in contract.

      • The Optus m to m $69/m for 500gb, is it the deal posted here on ozb 50% off for selected postcodes?

        • +1

I was just reading their website. Thenextra 50% does not apply to their 500gb promotion.

          • +1

@shegeloaf: Shame otherwise $34.50/m for 500gb would have been a good deal. I might try their ‘medium’ month-to-month plan $29.50/m for 100gb and hope this time I get to activate the SIM online without any problems.

            • @wtfnodeal: Same. I will also try ans sign up to their 69 plan with 220gb data which converts to 34.5 after 50% off.

Hop on live chat and ask them for it.

      • Yes, but that $69 per month isn't including the handset?

That would be $2419 full price on the phone then or divied up by 12/24/36 months? eg $69 + that, monthly?

    • I wish …

    • +1

There’s several offers in the Good Guys deal.

One includes a gift card which you can use on anything, including an Iphone if you want or anything else Good Guys sell.

The other offers are specifically to get discounts for iPhones, in this case you do need to pay for the cost of the phone minus the discount.

They functionally work the same if you’re choosing the deal with $1200 value and choose to buy an iphone.

There’s also other deals with $400, $600 discounts with lower monthly fees.

The iphone is not free in any of the deals.

For the $99 24month deal with the $1200 gift card, you are buying a mobile phone plan without a phone, just the SIM card; you receive only the gift card as a bonus, you do not receive a phone with it unless you choose to purchase a phone with the gift card.

With the gift card you do not have to purchase an iphone at the same time as signing up to the mobile phone plan, you can buy it anytime after using the gift card.

For the $99 24 month deal with the $1200 discount on iphone, you do need to purchase an iphone minus the $1200 discount at the same time as signing up to the mobile phone plan. You do not receive an extra $1200 gift card.
