[VIC, WA] Esatto EHPD80 8kg Heat Pump Dryer $669 Delivered @ Appliances Online eBay

460
HOMSAV

I believe this is the cheapest deal of all time for this unit, even lower than the clearance price through Bunnings back in July. Have paired it together with the APL600 washer/dryer mat which this machine is compatible with.

Thanks to @kapitoshka for posting his review and helping me to make the decision to jump on this unit.

If this is too big to stack on top of your washer, https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/304164097556?epid=22048448298&ha… for $754 7kg.

    • I was under the impression heat pump dryers were generally too heavy to be mounted?

      • +3

Probably all heat pump dryer shouldn't be mounted, but you can stack it on top of washer with a anti-vibration mat in between, if the size of your washer's top is bigger than the dryer's bottom or legs.

      • Stacking isn't the same as mounting

    • Is this a good machine? Compared to Esatto? This one fits my space.

      • I have the previous model (happy with it), can’t speak for this newer model. This dryer is one the highest stars review from appliance online website (4.7 or 4.6 google). I was thinking Esatto, but only this one can be stacked on top of my washer (depth) when I was searching for new heat pump dryer. Cost a bit more but come with 5 years warranty if you register.

    • This one doesnt post to melbourne unfortuntely

  • +2

Purchased, thanks OP, extra off with eBay vouchers too!

  • is this better than a clothes line?
A lot of my clothes get crinkled in the 2in1 washer dryer combo we have so we don't use the dryer part

    • +6

Washer dryer combo units are always terrible though. Unless they have drastically improved in the last cpl yrs?

  • +3

Just hope it does not have issues. I got an extended warranty through appliances online for my esatto dryer and it took 4 weeks to get a response. Was 2 months before they sent a tech out to fix.

    • I would ask for a refund of that two (three?) months of extended warranty!

    • Statutory rights under ACL
Extended Warranty is a waste of time

  • +1

legend! and they'll ship it in VIC! woooo

  • +4

Huge thank you for the acknowledgement! Anyone else have a question feel free to ask away. There are a number of helpful videos on my YouTube channel about Esatto. If you don't find what you're after I can try to help with what I can.

  • Commbank $30 back offer expired 2 days ago :(

  • +2

For anyone in SA you also get a gov rebate in excess of $200 if you buy this dryer using yess website.

    • How though ? the ebay seller wont deliver to SA, so will need to get it delivered to a VIC/WA address

  • Can anyone explain the difference between normal dryer and 'heat pump' dryer that almost all ozbargain posts are referring to. What's this big deal about heat pump dryers? Could someone please explain in simple terms? Thanks

    • +4

In simple terms, there are 3 types of dryers

Air vent - cheapest in cost, need exhaust hose otherwise the room will be hot and humid, bad energy efficient, fast drying

Condenser- mid range price, heat will be turned into water and store in the excess water tank, bad energy efficient, fast drying

Heat pump - most expensive among the 3, not hot and humid in the room, energy efficient is good, slower drying

      • +1

Thanks heaps for the explanation, make more sense now. I definitely have a cheap air vent one but I'd rather take that one due to faster time benefits along over the heat pump (I have solar panels to compensate for energy efficiency issue).

        • +3

Don't think it's worthwhile getting rid of a vented dryer in your use case scenario (given you have panels). Maybe consider a new dryer once your old dryer carks it

    • +10

Vented dryers simply heat up the air using a resistance heating element - just like your normal electric stove, kettle and floor fan heater - electricity is turned into heat using a resistance element. This is about 100% efficient in converting electricity into heat. Around 1000kw of electricity is turned into 1000kw of heat. The clothes are tumbled in heated air, which helps to dry them by evaporating water out into the laundry or via a duct outside.

Condenser dryers do the same thing as vented dryers, except they capture the evaporated water/steam and store it in a tank and release it into your sink/plumbing. Benefit is no humidity escapes into your laundry.

Heat pump dryers use the same tech as reverse cycle air conditioners (which are also called heat pumps). They capture whatever heat is available outside the unit via a refrigerant gas that is pushed/compressed through pipes. As the gas passes through pipes surrounding the dryer drum, the gas releases the heat previously captured and the cycle repeats. This process can be up to 3 to 4x more energy efficient than a straight resistance heating element, because it simply moves heat from one area to another and doesn't generate heat using resistance. Heat pump dryers can use 250kw of electricity to transfer 1000kw of heat.

  • How does the EHPD80 compare to the EHPD7? Same features across both etc?

Not that I seem to be able to get either currently.

  • Is this a good dryer?
It seems it is a good price or so the comments suggest but thought deals like these are kinda normal once a month thing

  • Yeah it's good, bit of a noisy hum when running but not a huge deal. I always run with the intensity toggle on (extra 10 mins) so clothes are completely dry, it's so much better than an old fashioned dryer. Just get the clothes out when finished and they won't have wrinkles :)

  • Any idea how long the AUTO mode runs for EHPD7?

    • 2 - 3.5 hours depending on the load, fabrics and how damp it was at the start. Also, anti crease function, if selected, will prolong it further

      • +1

Hi Greg, ran this machine couple of time …1st run was about 2hrs and 2nd run was about 3.45hrs (more load than 1st).
But it collected lot of lint, please chk : https://imgur.com/a/BXpMR1s
        Is this normal?

        • +1

Yes, it it totally normal. It almost vacuums clothes as it dries them. Winter cloths seem to shed more. Please remember to clean the secondary filter too. If you up to it, clean the cavity between the filters. There is a very important sensor located, that area may get slightly out of control too :-)

          • +1

@Kapitoshka: Thank you Greg :) BTW, what do you use to clean these filters? A normal cloth or something?

            • +2

@bluespider: I open the drum filter first, slide both sides into the shape I can hold easily. Then take a heatsink filter out and wipe it with that shape. :-) When finished, clean the heatsink with the Dyson attachment. Actually vacuuming it. then vacuum what I can in between filters. :-)

Thanks OP. Mine arriving on Monday

  • Seems ok, why would it be VIC,WA only.

  • Bought it, just in time for spring - couldn't say no at this price

  • Does this do reverse tumble?

    • It is saying yes in the description…

    • I have this machine. On the bed linen setting it reverse tumbles every 20 minutes about half a dozen times and then goes back the regular way. It could do that on other settings but I haven’t noticed.

  • +1

Pulled the trigger, it is showing as back in stock with 2 of them left.

    Thanks OP

    • +2

      Thanks. Got 1.

    • Got the update and it is arriving on Monday

  • Back in stock

  • Any way I can buy it now and ask them to ship in few weeks?
If I'm not at home anyone know what they do? Or do they do a booked drop off?

    • Ask them on live chat and let us know

    • +1

I purchased a washing machine from them a few weeks ago and arranged for it to be delivered 2 weeks later, so definitely possible depending on how many weeks you are after.

You arrange for the the delivery day (additional charge of $40 for weekends), and they will message you with a delivery window the morning of delivery around 6ish in the morning. My advice is to plan to stay home that day and be flexible around the delivery window.

I've ordered from Appliances Online 3 times over the past few years and each time the delivery experience has been smooth and easy.

      • Do they install as well?

        • +1

Yep. They include installation as well. I believe they do free removal of your old appliance as well, but check their website to make sure. I didn't have a old washing machine to be removed when I bought mine.

  • Does this have a lot of extra "stuffing around" as part of daily use like constantly emptying collected water and cleaning filter vanes/fins ?

    • Nope! Just a long (energy efficient) cycle.

  • +3

got the 7kg version - faultless after 18 months and probably 800 loads. Clean lint trap regularly

    • Do you have to empty a water trap as well?

      • +1

It comes with a flexible pipe to direct into a sink / hose outlet.

  • Reviews say the 8kg only has a lint filter inside the door and the secondary filter in front of the heat exchange has been deleted? If so, lint would build up on the vanes/fins much easier and require more frequent maintenance. Can anyone confirm this ?

    • +1

Mine was just delivered - fantastic delivery service. Can confirm, there is no second filter in the heat exchange compartment.

      • mine doesn't have a filter there either. can you please read & reply my message about the white plastic feet just below? Just wanted to check with at least one more person who bought the machine.

      • Thanks

  • Can confirm mine was just delivered and looks good so far. Very happy with the service

    • Got mine delivered this morning as well. Did you notice any water at the base? I asked the delivery guy and he said it is normal due to factory testing

      • factory testing…? Didn't see this explanation before. Well, it could be another possible explanation - residual water in the pipes that get spilled once the machine is moved…

        • Yupp mine leaked a little bit of water too

  • bought one, just got it delivered. I was confused about the feet - they are made of white plastic, and very slippery against my laundry tiles. can't even open the machine's door without it coming forward (video - https://www.dropbox.com/s/k617272g8wdzuon/slipping%20esatto.…). anyone had the same experience? can others confirm these feet are indeed just some pieces of white hard plastic? I was wondering if maybe somehow the correct feet were not delivered… :D

also, another strange thing is that the machine seems brand new and all, but it came with some water in its base - enough to make a small pool on the place where it was installed.

    • +1

I have the same experience with plastic feet and pool of water

      • thanks for confirming. re pool of water I think its because it has been very cold and humid in melbourne, and I think the heat exchange acted as a "condensator" of sorts.

re the plastic feet being slippery, I will try to put a very small bit of blu tack (https://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/p/bostik-blu…) under the front feet. will report back on how effective this solution is.

        • Happy to report half a peanut of blu tack under each front feet seems to resolve this issue well enough

  • @kapitoshka:
Can you explain what I'm supposed to do with this part of the machine? There's an attached sticker which says "Regularly clean the lint trap" - however, I thought that was referring to the part just inside the door which collects lint?

  • Beware of the poor quality and the warranty of Esatto products. I got a washing machine from them this May. And the door seal was broken two months later. They told me it’s customers’ responsibility and asked me to pay for the technicians that they sent to me. Then I was told that I needed to wait for three months to get the door seal replacement. It’s extremely frustrating to deal with them, so I just bought a new washing machine…….

    • I would just not have paid. Quote the ACL. Stand your ground.

Isn't this like half the price, what's the difference

    • This is a vented dryer (vs. heat pump) and it has a 7kg drying capacity (vs. 8kg). @bargainshooter has outlined the differences between vented vs. heat pump dryers in their post above

      • uh thanks,
wonder if all heat pump dryers are the same like this vs ones that cost like $2k

        • Some heat pump dryers has 9 or 10 energy stars, and i believe most $2k+ heat pump dryers are better brand (premium brand cost $$), save more energy and most probably use better parts too.

  • Has anyone ordered this unit. Mine came in today. Looks like a good build, one question i have is I have seen a filter in the heat exchange cleaning video posted by @kapitoshka. I only see a door on mine, which has 3 orange colour latch, once i open it I can see the heatsink/fins. There is no filter inside. Can anyone else who got the same unit confirm please.

    • +1

I have. No filter on that door either. Looks like new model is coming without it

      • That's correct. The manual comes with an addendum for the page about the lint trap, which states that the new model doesn't have a filter before the lint trap. Instead, you'll notice the new model (EHPD80) has two filters inside the door instead of the older model which just had the one (EHPD7)
