Let me guess this cost $15 to make?

I find it weird that people are surprised about this..

Designer brands aren't really that much higher quality than regular clothing.. People buy them for the brand/image etc. The price is generally to create the illusion of scarcity..

      • +1

I see this a lot on Ozbargain, people say its cheap to make but markup is off the charts on the designer brands.
But I rarely, if ever, see someone recommend a brand making similar clothes at a similar level of quality (or greater), that is significantly cheaper.
What is 'regular clothing', as the crap from Kmart just does not last.

What advantages does this puffer jacket have over, say, a Louis Vuitton puffer jacket? Which I could also afford.

      this is cheaper?

    • this is at least on sale while LV doesn't go on sale unless really no one wants

  • +1

That's $180 for the label with the name and about $14 for the jacket.

But the heartburn it may cause your snobbish relatives and friends will be priceless?

If anything was gonna make me more squeamish about buying a hugo boss puffer jacket, it'd be using a promo code with "SS" in it.

    • Well SS-spotted!

10% off a seasonal winter jacket in Spring…

    I'll pass

    • it’s $479 RRP down to $193

    • ozbargain vs ozmilddiscount, right!

  • It’s a very high quality jacket at a good price for what it is, you’re not only paying for the brand name. If you are on a tight budget, sure, Katmandu will fit the bill at half price….

  • -1

The one brand I would not touch ever.

  • add a further 6% Cashback bringing the price to $183 with free shipping. the most common sizes 52 & 54 appear to have just sold out….

I don't like the jacket but I am surprised that OZBargainers are ok paying $1800+ for an office chair and call it a bargain
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/703593
but then they are not ok with a branded push bike for $2000 and compare to Kmart, BigW etc
Just like this jacket, people compare this with supermarket ones which sells $30.
    Strange

    • This comment needs to be pinned.

    • Because you can't compare a jacket to an office chair that you sit all day on. Some people have back issues so that's another consideration.

And the same people who buy expensive chairs to sit on all day are probably not cycling often enough to justify an expensive bike.

    • but then they are not ok with a branded push bike for $2000 and compare to Kmart, BigW etc

On a site where every cheap takeaway deal post hits front page, you need to question why expensive sports equipment wouldn't be popular?
