Sweet these have been on my wishlist for a while.

  • Wish the physical copy wasn't so rare :`(

    • How rare? I have the impossible lair and never even played it. Must’ve bought it during the lockdowns when I was ordering all the games I’d heard of.

I think he means the Yooka-Laylee since it was released physically by Limited Run Games.

Yeah sorry I mean the first game, it's a port. The only physical release was by Limited Run as mentioned and it's worth at least a couple hundred 2nd hand, if you can find it at all as they only printed a small amount of copies one time.

I played through Yooka Laylee and the Impossible Lair and it was… fine?

The controls weren't spectacular, I could never quite get the hang of rolling off platforms and jumping.
The secrets were either blatantly obvious or ridiculously obscure, I never felt excited about finding them, either "oh was that a secret?" or "never ever would have found this without a guide"

The one cool thing was how the levels shifted with external environmental things BUT I will say you shouldn't expect to think of them as entirely new levels, more like new mechanics/alternative paths through the same levels.

    I gave it a 3/5
