The cables that come with these are really short. Probably fine for a mITX and case but not long enough for my uATX home theater case and mb.

    • +2

Building in an NCASE M1, for me the cable was way too long, and cable management was cumbersome.

      YMMV.

      • Similar problem in an SM550

  • Is this overkill if I am building $2000 gaming pc? Purchased 1Tb 980 pro and Corsair 4000x so far, CPU should be 12400f, GPU minimum 3070 or 6800 (should buy any when the price is right), motherboard don’t know which one is good.

This is a SFX Power Supply, so there's no point paying a premium for a small PSU if you're building in a full size Corsair 4000x case.

The 4000x is an ATX case, doesn't use an SFX power supply (without an adaptor anyway, which admittedly it does come with), and the ATX PSUs are much cheaper

    • Thanks

    • Not overkill but as the others allude to you could pick up something better for a similar price, arguably, although it's not the worst idea to use one of these in a bigger case anyway because their small size just happens to be a bonus for some - it's supposed to be a good PSU in it's own right, regardless.

That said, I'm sure a bit more 'breathing' space inside the enclosure wouldn't hurt and would potentially allow more room for better parts, depending on which PSU you ended up choosing. For instance just a couple of days after this was posted I picked up a Thermaltake Toughpower iRGB PLUS Platinum 850W Power Supply for $235.00 from PCCG (it's now back up to $309.00, which is still the best price but for some reason nobody except Umart advertises this one on pcpartpicker).

It's platinum rated like this SFX one but has 100W more headroom, digital control and 3 extra years' worth of warranty. Oh an colors, if you don't hate RGB. There are deals to be had out there but this SFX probably only swings about $30 below the going rate at best.

I have the SF450 Plat, great product, SFxx0 Plat are your best bet for sfx

  • just what i needed for my SFF 3080 machine

  • To buy now or wait until Black Friday and 11/11 to see what deals pop up, decisions decisions… (planning to build around December)

    • Imo, wait then. This is not a huge discount of the SF750 anyways. Plus if you wait you might hear some news about the new gen CPU and GPU and might want to go for the 850W PSU minimum for future upgrades, which Corsair doesn’t have. The nearest refresh of the series is rumoured to be around early 2023 so your best bet would be 850W for SFX and 1000W for SFX-L.

Anyways if it was up to me I’d wait, but if you want to this is the decent price for the SF750. I have seen it fluctuates around this price already so not a big deal for me.

To be fair, my plan is to build something in the ballpark of a 5600/6700xt and keep that for the next 4-ish years, so I don't foresee 750 watts ever being insufficient, so really it's just fomo over a PSU bargain (camelx3 at least shows me it's only dipped in price 2-3 times this year)

        • Ah well then it's sufficient enough for you, but are you going to build ITX as well? Just want to let you know if you are not then don't pay the ITX tax.

I also bet it will be priced similarly, if not better, during those big sales that you mentioned, so yeah I'd say it doesn't hurt waiting.

Have this in a 5900x Ryzen build in a mini ITX case. Fantastic PSU and I would not go for a few bucks saving lower than the 750 platinum.

  • Oos…

  • Back in stock at $195

    • Thanks, I've removed the expiry.

      • OOS again
