  • How does this compare to the noctua d15??

    • -5

      Google it

    • +3

This is about half the cost

      • +1

Does anybody know how it would compare to noctua noise wise?

Slightly better than D15, Slightly worse than DR4.

However, numerous reviews note that it's fan is quite noisy at max and that it can ramp up pretty quickly on serious load. As can many. Custom fan profiles, not max'ing all cores, good case cooling and not overclocking may all circumvent that from ever happening.

          • @UncleRico: Just looked, according to gamers nexus, AK620 is slightly better noise to cooling. Which is another $20-$30 more.

I have a 3600 and nh-u12s tho, maybe when I get 7600 and NVidia 4000 series I’ll upgrade and get a ‘better’ cooler. Thanks for the help tho!

I just got a new bracket mailed out by noctua for free for my new lga1700 board. In a high-ish end build, the extra $50 on a noctua is a no-brainer for me

        • Love Noctua. They sent me free brackets despite me being up front about the fact that I bought the cooler second hand.

      6.01 cents/gram vs 12.05 cents/gram

I use this in my desktop PC. Needs a huge case and low profile RAM. But its well worth it. Keeps my CPU cooler than my Corsair AIO that it replaced.

  • I would much prefer this over a cumbersome AIO system but worried about having to fork out extra cash for low profile RAM and large tower.

    • +1

You can get very similar performance by removing the front fan, with alternatives being replacing the front fan with something smaller, or simply by moving it higher.

  • would this fit in the nr200p?

    • doesn't look like it:

your case specs: Clearance - CPU Cooler 76mm (GPU in vertical position), 153mm (tempered glass side panel), 155mm (vented steel side panel).

    • +1

You will need be quiet! Pure Base 500DX or similar sized cases(CPU cooler clearance).

    • I have a NR200p and have a Vetroo V5 from Amazon in it. Depending on how grunty your CPU is, highly recommend the Vetroo.

Great cooler, and super value. That puts it right up against the Dark Rock 4 which sits at $90 at Amazon. The variety of mounting options on both should mean they can move to your next rig with you (AM5 mobo fit TBC)…

Both perform very similarly at lower load and temps, but under load the Assassin III's thermals are marginally (2-3 degrees) better, whilst the DR4 has noticeably quieter acoustics (6-7 decibels).

Check your clearance since 140mm fans will foul a lot of RAM clearance and case size limits.

  • +4

Air coolers like this run on par with 240mm aios with the benefit that they last 20 years or more. Fans can be swapped out easily also.

This is a decent price given the cost of the DH15 and others which have been steadily climbing over the years.. I say good deal…

edit: check out the awesome build photos with this cooler on the amazon reviews…. just thought I would point that out… impressive!

    • NH-D15's were at $110 for what seems like an eternity. I got one of the CNPS-20x for like $60 a while back and its just as big. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/603039

    • +1

I thought this and NHD15 trades blows with 280MM. Pretty sure this would beat most 240MM

  • would this be ok with 13th gen i7 without overlock but high load

  • Where does the code come from?

    • Deal is over :(

  • Oh frick, I think I missed out and I Really wanted this cooler ffs

    • To the swift go the spoils!

Next best option may be the Deepcool AS500. Only single tower and fan, but still 140mm fan and RGB, and currently 20% off.

      $55.20 - at www.amazon.com.au/dp/B093SVK9RY

  • I got one of these for my white build recently.

Cooler Master Hyper 212 LED Turbo White Edition CPU Cooler with 2 PWM fans with White LEDs - White - RR-212TW-16PW-R1

    https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/product/B07WGJ193H/?th=1

It works great and is on special at the moment. $49.

    • Cooler Master have always had solid cooling performance at fair prices. Niche brands like Be Quiet and DeepCool are sometimes a bit better at a similar price and size (like 1 degree cooler under load). I currently own a Be Quiet CPU cooler (and case).
