Id smack this with a framework laptop so hard

But not before the framework laptop had smacked your bank account harder than Rocky Balboa. Those things are pricey!

      • Yup, 1270P DIY version without any accessories (anything!) + forwarder could easily break $3k mark. It's a great laptop but that's still a lot to pay.

The au shop is taking preorders for a oct launch. Its $1639 (prebuilt) or $1279 for diy bases. I think it was roughly…. $256 for 32gb of ram.
So that means you would get the same for $138 if you used this deal.

It's not about how hard you hit, it's about how hard you get hit.

  • surcharge = 1.5% paypal fee?

Good prices compared to a year ago.

  • No dual channel 32GB memory?

Just buy two sticks of 16GB. It's likely from the same batch anyway.

Cheaper on Amazon (free shipping with Prime):

    • 16gb ?

  • Wild question if anyone knows the answer - my laptop is marketed as having a max capacity of 12gb. Currently it has 4gb soldered, 4gb removable, so this math would be based off replacing the 4gb with 8gb. What's stopping me from just replacing the 4gb with 16gb?

I don't know where else to ask than on laptop ram deals, hahaha

    • What's the model number / brand of the laptop?

      • Lenovo IdeaPad 3 (with a ryzen 7 5700U, idk if that's relevant)

    • In most cases you can get away going higher (provided the CPU supports the capacity) check the processor model specifications and confirm before buying.
I've never done this with any laptops that have one soldered & one upgradable so probably best to check reddits etc however I don't see manufacturers locking down boards (obviously CPU support is relevant)

    • i've had it where originally it would take <=2gb ram. only after a bios update can the computer read 4gb ram.
best to google if anyone else have tried it before.

  • I have an Asus Strix G15 from the deal awhile back, is this ram single rank x8 or double rank x16 to upgrade the performance of my laptop? In particular the 16gb 3200MHz and the 32gb 3200Mhz ones, especially when compared with the often recommended Kingston HyperX Impact. Could someone more tech savvy please advise, thank you

  • Why does apple charge like $500 for 16GB of ram..

    • +1

      Apple tax

    • +2

      Original cost+ Apple fanboy fee

  • I recently bought a 16GB crucial module for my Synology, for those buying these modules (or posting links to Amazon listings), note that there's very different models of this RAM:

‎CT8G4SFS8266 - This is a single rank module, as opposed to the dual rank modules linked above
CT8G4SFRA266 - This is a dual rank module, equivalent to that linked above, still cheaper on Amazon with Prime at $34

For what it's worth, I went with CT16G4SFD8266 (16GB, dual rank) which has a pretty good record of working in Synology systems compared to the SFRA model above.
